Imagine a strange alternate history where there's another show to talk about besides The Boys
MARS IS ARSE
Remember in e3 when kinoman told cancer he'd suck its dick and eat its shit?
Btoh the M6 marines and the rebels are fucking each other so much that Mars and Earth will be enemies forever. Also is that blue glow at the end the protomolecule people talk about from the Expanse?
>>220669374That would be cool as fuck.
>>220669374This is not going to connect to The Expanse in any official way. It's gonna end in the 2020s and then there would be a >300 year gap to fill in.
I didn't expect the marines to just show up and start blasting. If lily's footage gets out a lot of people on earth will probably sympathise with mars.I also figured Alex and haskill would cross paths but I didn't expect Alex to shoot him lmao. For never having used a gun he locked the fuck in on that swing
Palmer got the death he deserved kek
>Alex this episode, having to escape from behind enemy lines>mirroring kinoman in korea flashbacks in e3kinoino
The woman on Titan having an accident and puncturing her suit, but keeping the camera on Kelly's face the whole time and not showing any if it, felt cheap. If you want the space exploration to have a real sense of peril, you show that sort of thing directly and give the viewer some vertigo and make them grit their teeth a bit.
>>220669474What else could a weird blue glow in Titan be?
>>220669743It's obvious they had budget cuts this season
>>220669801I actually think a lot of the budget just went into the sets. The various segments of mars base this season are way bigger than any sets they built previously, as far as I can remember
For all Womankind lmao
>>220668437Oh look, marines are trigger-happy tards that can't even communicate with each other in the same language.
>>220669743Yeah, noticeable, previous seasons had wide shots for this type of thing.
I couldn't care less about lily and alex. I hope they die.
>the expanse!!why are people so obsessed with famk connecting to this show? they clearly dont. is it just redditors wanting the one other scifi show theyve seen to be the capeshit universe?
reminder
>>220668437I guess Earth didn't send their best if these crying, inclusive, Marines can't overtake a confined Mars commie community with no training whatsoever. They should be nuked or gassed or whatever but this lib space fantasy and it's writers need midge lesbians and womyn to show us who's boss. Chreest, it's so bad.
>>220669782>What else could a weird blue glow in Titan be?Hopefully a deadly contagious organism that Kelly will snatch in her desperation to find life only to bring it back to mars, killing everyone except Kelly who is immune which means she has to live the rest of her days knowing her reckless girl power killed the population of the entire planet.
>>220670858worst marine ever
>>220668437I've always been meaning to watch this but I heard this is woke.
>>220668990Let it go, troon. You're never gonna make your schizo fetish a meme.
>>220671100>but I heard this is wokeIt's painfully feminist.
>>220670978theres definitely something going on were not seeing, with stuff like the marnines comms being jammedsome combination of the MOCC people, the governor, and dev, are up to something. the governor asking to be taken to the marines command was part of some kind of plan for sure
>>220670858goddamn, she's tracy's granddaughter for sure
>>220670535Because there's nothing else of value left in this show.
>>220671100First two seasons are good because of Tracy. Literally one of the hottest women on the planet.
>>220668437Without spoiling, was the episode good?
>>220672247yes i liked it
Is this whole base made of like thin sheets of alluminum? I dont think shootouts like that are feasible when you think of the walls
>>220672837there were some throwaway lines in an earlier episode (or maybe last season?) about the weapons/base walls basically being designed to prevent another jamestown incident. space guns now are designed to not be powerful enough to pierce pressurised base walls (slash the walls are designed to be strong enough to not job like the jamestown ones)
Is it just me or was the theme at the end of the episode vaguely Expansey in style? https://youtu.be/0agOPrIbOYU>>220669497Them baldwins are made for action. It's the super parm spaghetti that raised him that way.>>220671359Yeah I feel like Dev is stepping up his space piracy by stealing a whole planet. After the failed lynching and Alex's dressing down of him, he probably realized he needed to commit way more for Mars to hit his dream so he went all in to finesse all sides into Martian independence even if that means he'll get killed at the end of it. The only thing that wouldn't be able to fit into that is taking out all the farms but I suppose he could have done that to frame the M6 as war crime happy aggressors so he swings public opinion Mars' way, get NGOs to support them and maybe jack a few space warships for themselves.
>>220670978>nukedHappy Valley is a massive investment for the M-6, they want to remove its occupiers and keep using it later, they can't destroy it.>gassedPossible the base is too modular for that to work. You'd have to go around gassing each individual section that's able to be sealed off and vented, which might be harder than just shooting everyone
why didn't they just lock all the doors to the Mars base? are they stupid?
I HATE the zoomer chink and his dumb gf so much I skip every scene with them
>>220674462you sound jelly of Alex
>>220674475Forced dei worthless zoomer insert character you are probably a broccoli hair zoomer too
>>220674507Yep, you're jealous of Alex
EVERY SINGLE MAIN CHARACTER IS A WOMAN OR MINORITY NOW EVERY SINGLE ONE THERE
>>220669497>I didn't expect the marines to just show up and start blastingvery accurate
>>220674621>miles (toby kebbel literally has top billing)>haskill>governor polivanov or however the fuck its spelt
>>220674507>DEI>Oh no, there are Asians and Russians... in SPACE??!!... even in a show with this title??lmao
>>220668437It's a show for women like all modern tv shows
>>220674672Shut up faggot there is no reason baldwins entire legacy is fucking girl boss and zoomer chinks you're part of the problem if you defend this
>>220674637i guess it makes sense from their perspective, one of their own was killed last episode so earth probably gave them the ok to shoot to killthe sort of dread/fear from the mars pov was well portrayed at the start of this episode. we see all the ships coming down at the start of the episode, and then the next we see of the marines, a martian is raising his hands and trying to talk to them and they just instantly dome him. just in those few scenes i think they quite effectively set up the shock and awe vibe/established the credibility of the marine threat after they somewhat jobbed last episode
The life is gonna be the gunk they scraped off the rover.
>>220674712You're a jeet, aren't you?
>>220674712>no reason baldwins entire legacy is fucking girl boss and zoomer chinksit was explained very clearly why ed and karen had a vietnamese daughter. it stands to reason that said daughter would then produce grandchildren that were at minimum half vietnamese, because thats how genetics work. i have no idea what you mean by girlboss because alex is male
>>220674770His daughter is forced girl boss chink and his grandson is forced zoomer chink and they both are written to be AWESOME and super important hence forced
The marine deployment in shiny new landers was retarded. If Earth has that level of technology, what the fuck is the problem in the first place with the mars town?
>>220674814>why are the main characters of the show focused on so much and why do they do cool shit?are you unfamiliar with the medium of storytelling?>man i wanted to like the epic of gilgamesh but it was just so woke, why does it keep talking about this brown guy who does so much shit?
>>220674856Yeah the hovercraft shit was fucking dumb and completely out of nowhere it's just going to get worse too
>>220674856>what the fuck is the problem in the first place with the mars town?what do you mean?
>>220668437imagine sucking my dick or even eating my shit
>>220675174>We have to install these massively repressive rules because our martian population is operating on very thin margins, are constantly underpaid>We'll upgrade to automated as soon as possible because we have to squeeze every ounce of profit>a gazillion dollar new stealth ship with a bunch of new types of landers that can be ONLY used on Mars and not anywhere else and we've built it before there even was any sign of a Martian revolt? Sure. The quality of writing plummeted, now I can't even call it an Expanse prequel.
>>220676520>a for-profit operation with every stage contracted to the lowest bidder is being nickel-and-dimed as much as possible>the US military has spent an absurd amount of money on excessive hardware>somehow these two things are related
>>220676520>And should we staff this new shiny ship with experienced and trained marines? Perhaps a cohesive crew that all know each other and can operate in one unit and communicate in one language?>nah, send recruits with four months of training>and make sure some of them only speak fucking French, that will work in our favor in a tactical situation
>>220676576the french guy was shown speaking fluent english. look up from tiktok
>>220676556So how exactly did the military justify those expenses? Do they perhaps have a potential enemy against whom that hardware was intended? Oh wait, no, there literally aren't any geopolitical enemies of M6. So the ship was built to counter specifically Happy Valley and no other possible use whatsoever.
>>220676520Like how the real world space funding comes up to as much as what they spend on a bunch of jets? It's been 20 years since they hit Mars, it'd be weirder if they didn't have some sort of bleeding edge supership to use on potential rival superpowers. They even had the sense to pour that money into sending a half dozen ships instead of just 3.
>>220672063Fucking A. And the Moon!
>>220676634>potential rival superpowersSuch as what, fucking Brazil?
>>220676629>Do they perhaps have a potential enemy against whom that hardware was intended? Oh wait, no, there literally aren't any geopolitical enemies of M6. >So the ship was built to counter specifically Happy Valley and no other possible use whatsoever.Oh anon... You should look up what the big boys got up to behind the scenes since the cold war. Just because you're not actively at war with someone doesn't mean you shouldn't be working on Metal Gears and Mega nukes in case they want to turn up the heat. Like what would your options be if the Soviets suddenly tried to over the moon again?
>>220668437>I HATE THIS GOY SLOP PROPAGANDA>THANKFULLY THERE'S THIS OTHER GOY SLOP PROPAGANDAan embarrassment of riches...
>>220676629>Oh wait, no, there literally aren't any geopolitical enemies of M6just say you havent watched the show lil bro
>>220676693Each other? Are you really that unfamiliar with geopoliticking? It's like that workmate gary you get on with when you're on the same team tackling the same project know that cunt will absolutely knife you in the back if it means moving up the ladder.
>>220676629>Oh wait, no, there literally aren't any geopolitical enemies of M6.Even ignoring the stuff the other two anons brought up, the first big thing to happen this season is literally helping a guy escape to a rival mars colony which is run by a separate government that refuses to cooperate with the M6 and is happy to harbor a fugitive from the M6.
>>220676820they also explicitly mentioned kashmir in the first episode. probably more so as general background stuff to explain the tensions between the M6 and ISN, setting up for why ISN had to stop helping mars a couple episodes ago, rather than priming us for a hot-war ww3 scenario at some point in the season, but like it's confirmed that in-universe india and pakistan part of the respective superpower blocks and are actively at each other's throats during s5
>imagine wanting to talk about a piece of ship soap opera dressed a sci-fi showFor All Mankind is such a fucking disappointment.
>>220677541This episode wasn't a soap opera, it was very firmly sci-fi action- of debatable quality, but at least they tried
>>220676427>>220676446disgusting
post tracy
>no Aleida girlbossing this episodeWe eating good tonight.
>>220678942Tradeoff is you don't see any of Miles or anyone else in mission control responding to the invasion.Wonder if they couldn't think of a believable or effective way for the Mars underdogs to handle it, so their solution was to mostly ignore and gloss over it and let us guess at whatever is going on there
>>220676520You act like this is unrealistic when Americans starve while sending gazillions to Israel to bomb its neighbors.
>>220679530i reckon were getting some flashbacks or something next episode to show they put a plan into motion. the scene of the governor surrendering was so pointed theres no way theyre not up to something
Am I the only one who had to squint the whole episode? Shit was dark as balls
>>220670858booba!
the russian woman fucking up during the climb was infuriatingthey should be able to make a scene high stakes and with tension without having the characters be bumbling assholes
>>220680829also "guys i see something odd""what is it?"idk it's odd :)"fuck you no scientific mind and can't climb for shit
This Season fucking blows, i don't give a shit about 5k pleb workers staging a revoluton. What did they think was gonna happen?
>>220680987The show should have touched on how, if you've been on Mars for a long time or if you were born there, your circulatory system would be adjusted to the lower gravity and you would likely have partial heart atrophy compared to an Earth person. So it would be very difficult or impossible to return to Earth. This could have been one of the main motivations for the colonists resisting the automation plan- being forcibly sent back to Earth would be a death sentence for a large % of them
>>220680987hows that boot taste, chud?
>>220672247It just set up the finale, a bit underwhelming.
>>220681617I wanted to see cool space shit, not a workers dispute in 3 hallways. Nothing happend all season
>>220680055God dammit, we're supposed to judge the art based on logic, not whatever retarded shit happens irl. Also does Israel even exist in this setting? Are there any wars in the world post-Nam? There was something about jeets shit flinging over Kashmir, maybe?
>>220681948The timeline diverged in early 1966 when Sergei Korolev survived a surgery instead of dying in it. So yes the then-17 year old Israel would probably still exist in some form
>>220681617>least woke appleslop viewer
>>220683251
>>220680987>i don't give a shit about 5k pleb workers staging a revolutonSame. I think the writers strike influenced this entire plotline and everything we're seeing is the writers larping as heroes. I'm actually cheering for them to be defeated, sent to earth and replaced by robots.
What specifically makes this feel like a soap opera? Is it the lack of background music, the lighting, the camera? It's strange and slightly unnerving.
>>220674726They were always going to behave that way. Why are people so delusional about this stuff? Marines are expeditionary forces. You send them places to kill everything in the area and secure a beachhead, they were *always* going to take Happy Valley and they were always going to murder most of the population doing it because that what they are: killers. Still, good to see the MPKs and the traitor faggot Marsiemarine get what was coming to them. Hopefully the lack of resistance the Marines were talking about means Miles & co have an actual plan and lure the rest of them into a trap and they bite it as well.
Jesus why is budget for the 3rd biggest company on earth managed to be smaller than that of the fucking SciFi Network? Why are we stuck with these shitty actors and writers. And these shitty special effects.
>>220684495>They were always going to behave that way. Why are people so delusional about this stuff? Marines are expeditionary forces. You send them places to kill everything in the area and secure a beachhead, they were *always* going to take Happy Valley and they were always going to murder most of the population doing it because that what they are: killers.I think (at least within the world of the story) had that guy not died in the asteroid explosion there might have been an attempt to go in using non lethal rounds like they'd mentioned. But after a marine got killed earth was just as hungry for Martian blood as the marines were trigger happy
>>220684705They only used nonlethals on the station because they were worried about puncturing the hull and damaging the equipment, they literally say as much in the episode. it wasn't restraint because they were unwilling to kill it was restraint to protect their *own* lives and protect the corporate asset their weenie asses had been sent there to secure. Marines are *always* trigger happy, that's how they're trained, if you stand in their way they put you down. The why's and wherefores aren't something they care about, it's irrelevant to them whether they have any right to be there, or whether their actions are proportional, the whole point of a Marine is you point at something and say "MINE" and they go and take it. Do you think all the warcrimes the US commits(I know technically it's the French forces who kill the guy trying to surrender - nice to see the usual bullshit requirements the US military imposes to access their consultants and trademarks to depict them as the goodies are still in effect - but be real here they're all at it) are just accidents, little oopsie-poopsies? I have the misfortune to know a couple of guys who were in similar units in the UK, they're completely open about the fact that they're basically monsters and have no regrets about it, they don't feel they have any responsibility for their actions at all because Muh Chain of Command.
I had to drop this season. It was just plain bad and I had no desire to continue.
>>220669474>>220669374Its not an Expanse prequel because the Expanse universe has lore about its <2020 space timeline, and it just plainly isn't SENPAI lore.
>>220669909I feel like the opposite. Mars all takes place on the same few cheap looking sets to the point it starts to feel like a 90s sitcom with constant set reuse. The sets in previous seasons were easier to make sure, but at least you had some variety.
>>220685182I'm not saying the sets look incredible by any means, just that they've had to construct sets that are substantially larger in scale this season, which probably costs exponentially more
>>220685034>I have the misfortune to know a couple of guys who were in similar units in the UK, they're completely open about the fact that they're basically monsters and have no regrets about it, they don't feel they have any responsibility for their actions at all because Muh Chain of CommandI know 0 people in the military but isn't that pretty much every soldier that is combat oriented? I thought the whole point is that you don't question the chain of command.
>>220670978my ss13 experience tells me that you can't easily gas or even take over a station that easily, be it in space or surface, too modular.
>>220681948>>220682257Israel exists and they're still on their bullshit in the famk timeline, at least as of the s1-s2 timejump. The camp david summit was mentioned, though in their timeline it failed, presumably due to it being reagan instead of carter mediating (that's the obvious difference we know of, anyway). That would probably have pretty fucking massive implications for the middle east but it's never really explored since obviously it's not what the shows about. The assassination attempt on sadat still happens but in their timeline he survives. The Iran hostage crisis also happens, but the cia raid succeeds.I think the non-space stuff in the time jumps is more written as random nods to real events than a serious exploration of the timeline divergence so maybe not worth paying too much mind to, but at least up until the 80s Israel was still at war with Arabs. No soviet invasion of Afghanistan and oil being made redundant by fusion mean no muhajadeen means no desert storm/war on terror, so maybe going into the 21st century the US wasn't quite as willing to bomb places for their Israeli mastersI suspect the decline in oil and the fact that Ellen was in office after reagan would have big implications for the trajectory reaganomics put the country on, and by extension its relationship with aipac/lobbying as a whole, but again, the show just doesn't go into that level of detail
>>220672247pretty good but disappointing that most of this stuff is happening so late in the season.
>>220674814kek are you a retard? Alex and his mom have had huge fuck ups this season both in regards to competency and integrity.
>>220683740I kek at this every week. We need more of his tweets
>>220686053*mujahideen, I always fuck that up
>>220686102you are a chink
>>220685980No not really. My local wargame club is at a Forces club that's where I know them from and we get all sorts in there, but there's a distinction between the general soldiery who *tend*(obviously there are nutters) to view things as >the people who sent us there bear ultimate responsibility, but we tried to do the right thing and if I did something iffy I feel awful about it and try not to dwell on itand the more specialist types(the two lads I know were a Royal Marine and a Para) who's attitude is more>when I'm deployed I am simply a weapon, they tell me to go and I go, if people get in my way they die, who they are and why they oppose me is irrelevant, my "rules of engagement" are "win and come back, end of"The regular soldiers tend to get trained to take stuff like RoE and conventions of war seriously, when they fuck up it's usually because something has gone seriously wrong. The other guys are quite open about the fact that it was made clear to them during training that they should consider all that stuff irrelevant, that their priorities are mission success, their lives, and their squadmate's lives in that order and anything goes in pursuit of those goals. It's legitimately chilling to watch them talk about it - they can intellectually acknowledge that there were times where they straight up murdered civilians out of convenience but they talk about it with zero emotion or regret; they just got in the way, so they were gotten out of the way. They really fuck with these guys heads man.
>>220686258how did you know?
>>220686371huh must be interesting having all those sorts of people around, ty for answering anon
I wish this whole season was just about the Titan mission and they had cut every single Mars scene.
>>220685111They should have just killed Ed off in last seasons finale.
I'm annoyed not to be seeing more marine deaths due to Marsies using their superior Mars knowledgeAlso FUCK Haskell, I hope he fucking dies, he has no qualms whatsoever about joining the kill crew to butcher his own people. What the fuck.
>>220686815this
