Drake thought they were friends until Josh decided to behave like a woman and talk shit behind his back, Drake caught wind of it and did the right thing and just went his own way but when the public started giving Josh shit for it he hit Drake up and staged a reconciliation.
Josh has always been a petty jealous bitch who couldn't stand that Drake was cast as the handsome, talented brother who gets all the bitches while he was cast as the fat idiot loser even though that's exactly who they were irl, and even after losing weight he remained incredibly insecure about this, you can see it in his leaked script for a potential Drake &Josh revival a la iCarly, he wrote Drake as a drug-addicted ugly and lonely loser and himself as rich, successful and constantly surrounded by women, he's so petty he even switched the names in the title and called the show "Josh and Drake."
