I love that the Predator's presence is justified by a heatwave. In all subsequent media they completely ignored the idea that the Predator prefers hotter climates. But in this one they use it as a plot point to hit him with cold blasts in the meat plant. I love the cast, I love the acting--I even love the overacting, like that gangster getting jacked up in drugs. Everything is so rich and effective in its portrayal. There's never a dull moment.

The Glover version that we got is a mostly forgotten disappointment. Predator 2 with Seagal would be the most memed movie of all time.

They use an APC to try to kill aliens (which happen to have landed from a new alien spaceship who detected predators on earth, and we learn they are at war). Danny Glover returns and says he’s too old for this shit when he sees the female predator and runs over the predator younglings while trying to drive through new york and get a bagel. This causes the female predators to chase him. Danny Glover contacts Call and he and Winona Ryder lure the aliens and predator together. Danny glover finds a secret self destruct mechanism buried in calls programming given to him by the army-weyland and activates it against her will. He destroys all surviving characters from Alien 4. At the end just one baby alien and one baby predator survives and becomes friends as the cliffhanger.

Instead of a cloak, the predator uses its shape-shifting ability and chameleon-like skin to hide.
