I was flipping through cable the other week and saw some garbage TLC show with a girl who ostensibly had tourettes or autism or something, but couldn't possibly sell it to save her life. She was just randomly shaking her wrist around and lazily mumbling, but otherwise doing banal activities like going to the zoo. I specifically remember her 'tics' didn't make sense for what she claimed to have, as if she'd gotten it mixed up in a google search. Her own father seemed as if he'd been forced into doing the show, but otherwise most of it was a lynchian cringe ritual where nearly everyone around her validated the unconvincing scheme for attention.I don't know if that's this same girl or if there's a lot of them doing it now, but at this point if a girl isn't visibly fucked up (fat enough to have a sagging forehead, FAS etc) then I automatically don't buy whatever diagnosis movelist she rattles off. It's almost always a useful lie and/or her doctor padding his ritalin/seroquel kickbacks. Being 'disabled' is the new social lubricant like how people used to ask each other how their day is, now you simply disclose your imaginary mental handicap so any potential faux pax is voided as out of your control and nothing is expected from you anymore.
