I'm really suprised there isn't Aimee & Jaguar in the list . It's a beautiful , powerful, touching and sensual tale of lesbian romance during WWII and based on a real story. Clearly one of the best emotional movies.
>>
There's a man reflected on that camera lens, shame on you OP.
>>
What Keeps You Alive was pretty good, its a horror movie thou.
The redhead that plays the killer is seriously hot, i think she is on The Purge show and her storyline is a f/f/m love triangle its seems pretty shit but thats more or less most tv shit lately.
>>
>>2706546
Weren't people talking about OP in the last thread? I faintly remember it being another girl in a het relationship and it doesn't even have a conclusive good end.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5AnVjVHU3s

Absurdly funny /u/ short. Between this and the Rela stuff it is surprising how much web content is made for dating app commercials.

This isn't live action related but does anyone remember that short youtube series that was set in a high school and had a gurren laggan style of progression and featured lesbian MCs? I can't find it in my favorites anymore because I like and subscribe to too many lesbian youtuber's channels for years and it flooded my history.
>>
>>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXNOg_SK7Vs

Just watched Hearts Beat Loud, it was really qt and i guess now i like indie hipster music thanks to this, Life Is Strange and Atypical.
>>
how come that nobody talks about "Battle of the Sexes"?

Anyway, I came across a few movies, that are so hard to find, that I couldnt see them, but are nonetheless lesbien-themed:
"Thats not Us"
"The Ring Thing"
"Preludium"
"Liz In September"
"I Love Her"
"Signature Move"
"The Feels"
Cant tell if they are good thou.

I would definitely recommend: "Thelma" and "A Date For Mad Mary"
>>

>What Keeps You Alive
Are you thinking of schoolgirl crush?
>>
>>2706544
I was beginning to think I was the only person who watched Aimee & Jaguar. It's stuck with me after all these years but I can't bear the thought of watching it again. Not because it's bad, but that ending combined with the fact that it's supposedly based on a true story gets me right in the feels.
>>
>>2707547
To be honest, I can watch it so many times because of all the great and funny moments they had together and the sacrifices they made to stay together and that's what makes the ending less tragic, it's more of a happy tragic ending than a bad ending.
Also, the two last scenarios were amazing and when you see how Lily stayed faithful to Felice for after so many years, it's just more beautiful than sad knowing it's based on a true story.
Aimee & Jaguar is so unique and emotional that I would totally recommend it.
>>
>>2707280
That looks like the one, thanks anon.
>>
Anyone see Bad Girl (2016) with Samara Weaving? Looks /u/ relevant but I can't find a spoilery synopsis to find out if it is the type of movie that would make me regret paying to watch it.
>>
>"1 in 10,000" (Korean short)

Some rough acting/writing moments and the teaser looks like it may verge into k-drama tropes but I still liked the feel of this one. It was like they were in their own world. Also I couldn't pass up watching /u/ live action in 4k when the production value actually made it worthwhile.
>>
The pastebin in OP seemed a little too weak and with a lot of barely /u/ related movies so I made this list on a Letterboxd empty account.
Just thought it would be more convenient to have them displayed there.
Feel free to make use of it or bash its contents.

>>

well, it still lacks well known movies like Aimee & Jaguar, Battle Of The Sexes, The Gymnast, My Summer Of Love and a few...

And Jennifers Body isnt /u/-related, its two girls kissing for fanservice.

But I like that the list is more visually appealing, though it also lacks order.

Yeah, good enough to watch the coming episode(s?)

This is a bit of a long shot but does anyone remember a music video, from like the 90s, where the camera is going through someone's nightlife and ends with them sleeping with a stripper before the camera pans out and reveals the camera to be a chick? Anyone remember what the song was called?

Should I watch Deadpools 2
>>
>>2712175
Watch it because it's a good movie. Don't go in expecting anything beyond some glimpses if you just want lesbians
>>
>>2712175
if you liked the first one yeah. It's perhaps a less narratively tight experience but \I found it more funny than the first. As for yuri elements Negasonic teenage warhead was a surprise standout in the first movie and the actress is a lesbian so I'm pretty sure they added nods to her relationship either because of her input or due to writers/director knowing that and working with it. The character was relatively minor beforehand and they changed her significantly for the first film so modeling her after her actress a bit could easily have happened. It's fairly bare bones and not hugely relevant in the movie but it is nice.
I think the actress came out after the first film? her next project after the first Deadpool was first girl I loved which would probably not be liked by /u/ but is lesbian related.
>>
>>2712175
Without a doubt yes. I keep thinking back to it as one of the few movies I genuinely enjoyed watching in a long time. The /u/ content isn't more than a few minutes over the whole movie but it isn't trying to hide it and that made it delightful.

>>2712251
Basically no one here said a single good word about tfgil but it was unfortunately the op image for the thread for a long time.
>>
>>2712175
Yes. Not necessarily for the lesbian side couple, since they are barely in it, but because it's good fun.
>>
>>2710423
>And Jennifers Body isnt /u/-related, its two girls kissing for fanservice.
There's a sexual/romantic undertone to Jennifer and Needy's relationship. It isn't what the film is about, exactly, it isn't healthy and it doesn't end well, but it's not just fanservice.

I just watched the 1985 film of Anne of Green Gables.
And I have to ask, why aren't Anne and Diana totally gay for each other? Like, I'd love to have a girlfriend like either of them.

isn't Anne of Green Gables one of the novels that inspired the whole Class S thing in Japan?

If someone wondered in newest season of Last Ship the mandatory lesbian finally gets into relation with a woman but a moment later in newest episdoe she gets killed off by her "lover".
And seeing newest episodes of new Grey Anatomy season, of course, Arizone is not in the cast anymore, but hey a male gay romance seems to be blooming among interns and we might get some chubby lesbian intern to cover Arizona lose.
At least Wynnona Earp last season ended in the female pairing semi-surviving where we know their being reunited will be a plot for next season.
Great start of fall season.
>>
Do Live Action webseries count too? I finally got around to watching Carmilla, and while I'm not done yet, I like it a lot.
>>
>>2720469
Is Wynonna Earp definitely having another season? It better just for that ending. And has Grey's Anatomy even been /u/ relevant since Callie/Arizona? I've heard next to nothing about it since they broke up.

lol, thats legit hilarious in a way, the Last Ship thing i mean its weird such a right wing show keep her alive for so long.
I don't care about most nonCW or non-Netflix/Hulu/Amazon stuff thou, which in insight its also hilarious, like i think i finally get The Joker's pov...

Is someone else watching A Discovery Of Witches? There's an old lesbian couple in there. They're older witches and I thought they were cute.

Stop while you're ahead. Seriously, season 1 is the best, 2 is serviceable for awhile but looses steam and then goes to shit when it ends on that unforgivable het conversion of the best lesbian character, 3 is a fucking disgrace, and if they've still managed to make it worse after that then there's no saving their souls.

>>2720643
It was confirmed to have a 4th season of 12 episodes.

>>2720697
Witch stories are my favorite untapped source of /u/ but I'm hesitant to start a watching this when the writers don't even have to think of a way to kill off a lesbian if they're already old.

>Stop while you're ahead. That's awful to hear. Is this the general consensus? I'm halfway through s2 now, and while I like it less, I haven't reached a point where I feel like dropping it yet. Is the movie at least good?

>het conversion of the best lesbian character
Danny gets Het'ed? That's actually disgusting.
>>
>>2720831
I'm happy you recognized it was danny, she was a compelling character at the beginning at least. The tumblr het crowd was rabid about danny and that one jock guy as a ship despite the clearly written character dialogue and acting that more than implied it would never happen in the actual show. The showrunners idiotically decided to pander to this crowd, and so tragedy was born. The character assassination that was required to make danny, with outspoken interest in only the female lead and her clear dislike of the guy, was to literally kill her and bring her back as a brainwashed hetslut. Much of /u/ stopped watching at that point and I don't think I saw a single post here from anyone who bothered watching the movie that came out. The only thing out of this series that I miss is the regular threads and episode discussions we had here. The /u/ webseries well ran dry before the first bucket hit the bottom.
>>
>>2720871
>The /u/ webseries well ran dry before the first bucket hit the bottom.

There are a handful of webseries around. Haven't found one I stuck with, but the private-eye one wasn't THAT bad. Don't know if it got bad, though. Only watched...the first season or something. It's been a while.
>>
>>2720716
Well shit, I didn't know enough people watched it to warrant a fourth season. I'm surprised, given the overall quality, but I guess that's the power of gays at work. Good thing it's getting a fourth season, because otherwise I would've been a lot more miffed about the cliffhanger.
>>
>>2720140
Because Christians. They showed this photo in a sermon at my old church as an example of girls being friends, and I laughed out loud.

Arizona went on a dating spree the season after Callie left, we saw some of her lovers. Then last season she was on and off with DeLuca's sister (can't remember their first names) but they had different views about many things and eventually broke up for good. Some episodes later Arizona went to move definitely to... New York? or wherever Callie is living now with their kid and seemed eager to rekindle their relationship because Callie is now single toovand they lived happily ever after offscreen.

This season's first episode reminded the viewers the blond thicc intern who's completely smitten with Meredith is (most likely) actually a lesbian and will probably fill in the /u/ quota for the show from now on

Newest season of Z Nation, well you don't create such butchy looking female character to not make her gay right?
>>
>>2724920
I hope this time is different but I mostly gave up hoping it would have the guts to do anything after they edited out this kiss from a couple seasons ago and then in the latest season basically removed addy from the story entirely.
>>
As trashy shows go, new season of Van Helsing brought back the actor playing female lover of the femMC back who was killed before in form of some elder vampire thing with excuse she's comfortable with that form more than any other. Why they love so much to reopen old wounds knowing it's all bullshit?
>>
>>2720871
Late response, but that's all incredibly disheartening. I really liked the Carmilla, Laura, and their actresses. And Danny, and most of the other characters. To hear it went to shit so fast is disgusting. I suppose I'll finish the second season and then look up to find if there are any compilations of cute-ness for S3/the movie, instead of suffering through such a disappointment.
>>
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS1p-27dfKs
Cute, bittersweet story. Better than most, if only because it gave no opportunity to have actors exchange lines and muck it up.

I second the recommendation of "A Date For Mad Mary" it's great.
>>
>>2727224
>changed so much that i don't know
Everyone seems to be family members now, but what was hinted in the source material is explicit. I've only watched the first three episodes, but one of the sisters does appear to be a lesbian.
She hasn't been screwing any actual men in the first three episodes.
To clarify that statement, here's something from episode three: Theo has psychic feelings, and is a child psychologist. She decides to visit the basement of a young patient, and psychically relives the foster-father raping the daughter. She then gets the father arrested.
>>
>>2727853
Its actually a great show, also Theo is actually gay like in the original novel/movie.
>>
>>2706690
That was a fantastic movie, thanks for the recommendation. My only complaint is that Rose's facial structure kept reminding me of Snoop Dogg somehow.
>>
>>2707160
I saw The Feels because someone else recommended it here before and it's a film about first experiences with orgasms and masturbation, that's what "the feels" are. It wasn't horrible but I wouldn't recommend it for the /u/ or unless you're super thrilled about stories of how people discovered cumming
>>
Recently watched Janet King, Australian crime/law/sort of series with the lesbian heroine of the same name.

Pretty good. It's not really about being a lesbian so don't expect much happening on that front but it's a well made series. But then this is pretty much what I prefer, so ...

Admittedly, I suspect the end (presumably the end, nothing confirmed about another season or not I think) will piss off some that specifically watch it for the /u/ content.
Of course all lesbians with a career will always end up alone.
>>
>>2727862
>>2727853
In episode 6 she gets drunk and she tries to kiss her sister's husband. It doesn't actually happen because they get found out but I'm still pissed. Fuck westernshit.

So from new seasonal shows.
Alex in Supergirl new season got a haircut, maybe the people behind the show will be gracious to give her some gf this season, or not.
In Walking Dead new season, Tara is still alive, so maybe she will get some romance moment before she gets killed off, preferably with that hot girl from that other village near water.
Lastly watched the new Charmed series, and honestly it's a bit too tumblry for my taste, not really funny, doesn't have the charm of the original series, the lesbian sister is of course angry feminist fightning for women rights against men rape culture, just a bit tooo much, will watch anyway hoping it will turn better.
>>
>>2729622

I miss Person of Interest. No other couple will ever top Root and Shaw for me.
>>
>>2730591
>liking Bury Your Gay
>>
>>2730625
It was obvious one of them was gonna die from the start or at least after they killed off Carter. They've been saying for quite a while that not everyone was gonna survive 'till the end.

It's still one of the best realized couples, regardless of whether or not one of them died.
>>
>>2730943
>one of the best realized couples
>not officially a couple
>Shaw goes missing for almost an entire season
>Root dies an episode after they reunite
>has to share screentime in her final episode with Elias dying, which results in neither of them getting a proper send-off
I mean, I liked the show, but come on now.
>>
>>2730591
Still hurts
>>
I never though they'd actually make Root and Shaw canon when I started watching the show back in season 3. The only reason I even picked it up was because I saw Amy Acker on-screen.
>>
>>2731034
>not officially a couple
They were never going to be the kind of couple that'd say they're dating or call each other girlfriends. They were as official as those two could've possibly been, enough so that the rest of the main cast recognised it.
>has to share screentime in her final episode with Elias dying
It's the other way round. The way Elias's death was treated was a damn shame, he barely gets mentioned. Root's send off is the rest of the season where everyone, especially Shaw, grieves over her and the Machine takes on her voice as tribute.
>>
>>2731133
Machine taking her voice instead of finding her own was the worst thing about the final part of the season.
>>
>>2731196
Worse thing was the fact that they were under time constraints
>>
>>2731199
All the more reasons to remove one of the main characters from the story entirely instead of introducing a not-really-Root that everybody and their mother hallucinates every time the Machine speaks.
>>
In that Spy Who Dumped me movie, I think one of the girl is gay or something.
>>
>>2731294
You got my hopes up so I did some digging. Atomic Blonde was good but obviously a few steps removed from being a highlight /u/ experience. You got my hopes up that something at least fleetingly similar came along.
>Although in the film McKinnon’s character isn’t explicitly queer, “it’s sort of obvious to most people that she’s not straight-identifying,” the writer-director says.
>Instead, she and David Iserson, who cowrote the screenplay, scripted lines for her that were “rejecting men that were interested in her and her disgust with sleazy men, and how she kind of generally doesn’t like the patriarchy.”
If this is what counts as /u/ in a movie, then count me out. The fucking irony comes after reading the full summary on imdb
>https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6663582/plotsummary?ref_=tt_stry_pl
>"Audrey (Mila Kunis) runs home to Morgan (Kate McKinnon), who had slept with a creep she met at the bar."

>(Kate McKinnon), who had slept with a creep she met at the bar.

Wat.
>>
>>2731586
Considering anon likely pulled that from an imdb review, he's likely paraphrasing. Either way movie's terrible.
>>
>>2731321
Its not, theres this weird real wishful thinking going around certain actresses mostly on tumblr about their characters being gay, like a couple of days before watching that terrible flick i read some weirdo misconstruct everything that happened in that movie about McKinnon's character in such a weird way that just from that i assumed it was bullshit, and it was.

That said for it being such a terrible movie the action sequences were really good, so good that it clashed so much with the rest of the bullshit 'comedy' going around.

The russian girl that played the model/assassin was really qt, i remember her from Pacific Rim 2...heck if we are on the ''''subtext'''' bs route that movie reads really gay, with both her and the secondary femMC and John Boyega and Scott Eastwood chars, but then again i guess thats the nature of the link system they use for the mechs.

Overall Spy Who Dumped Me was a waste on time on every level.

I just watched the first episode of CW's Legacies. The premise of the story sounded intriguing, and the main character girl (witch, werewolf, vampire) seemed interesting (and hot) which are the two reasons I gave it a shot. There are two girls that they introduced as lesbian ex's (which initially got me excited), but then it seemed like they might write them into being Bi (god damn them bating people with the lesbian angle). Its unclear if either/both will be kept lesbian, or if they'll make them go bi. I'd like to see the head master's daughter hook up with the main character girl, but sadly I don't think that's in the plans.
>>
>>2738924
The ex was supposed to be gay, and not part of the main cast, while the one that is part of the main cast is bi.
So its obvious bait considering from the get go they are pairing her with a dude and the ex is supposed to be evil.
As a rule of thumb is better to never expect anything from TVD people, like how in the last two seasons of The Originals the witch/werewolf couple was barely in there and were wasted overal and the evil vamps from main show's seventh season were from the get go supposed to die, even if they were legit interesting.

I've never watched the TVD, the Originals, or any other show related to them, and based on what you told me it doesn't look like there is any reason for me to in the future. I feel like in general the CW shows are unappealing. While I like the comic characters of Supergirl, Arrow, and Flash I have little tow no interests in the relationship and general stories they have going in those shows. At times I enjoy Supernatural, but at other times not so much. I feel like a lot of characters in their shows are poorly cast too. Like they have a quota on how they have to cast a ton of minorities as main characters in all their shows nowadays for characters that were never intended to be that way (ex: Iris in Flash, Jon Jones in Supergirl, etc).

I'm holding out a bit of hope for Batwoman (and her potential lesbianism) and a possible all girl Supernatural spin-off (including potentially lesbian Claire) ,but I'm expecting to be disappointed with both.

Just a throwaway /u/ scene in a non/u/ show but the first episode of The Rookie has two cops check on a house disturbance. A woman answers the door and the other cop goes to the back where a woman jumps out the window. Turns out they were having weird breaking-and-entering fetish sex in the shower, but I was surprised to see lesbians on an ABC show where none of the characters comment on it being two women.
>>
>>2739062
>weird breaking-and-entering fetish sex in the shower
How do you break-and-enter into the shower?
>>
>>2737242
I'll admit the premisse caught me attention but also left me apprehensive.
So, how preachy is this for someone who doesn't believe god? I find stories about discussing faith and Christian mythology interesting, but I find annoying when someone wants to convert me.

The lesbian sister's gf isn't in the first two episodes so I'm still deciding how much I'm willing to overlook on quality, but from the two episodes I'm still not sure how to feel about it. It gave a nod to singularity-level artificial intelligence a la Person of Interest, but the technological knowledge of the writers is pathetic. The MC's friend is a hacker who claims to be able to find IP addresses through facebook (routed through servers, impossible), or geotag info from a profile picture (facebook strips the exif data from it, also impossible), so it isn't even close to the level of technical precision that Person of Interest accustomed me to. Meanwhile the events that happen to the MC are clearly so advanced that even an AI would struggle to execute them without a team of helpers like those in PoI. So far the show is very feel-good and low stakes, so I'm doubting that they'll ever take a path between acknowledging actual supernatural events or actual AI conspiracy, and that middle path sounds kind of dull to me. The MC can only be part of so many unbelievable chains of events without deducing a pattern of either technology or voodoo before I start to think the characters are just stupid.
>>
The CW needs to give its writers all raises.
>>
>>2739314
The 3rd is the one with the sister telling her dad that she's moved in with her girlfriend and it had some dumb central plot that I can't even remember despite just watching it hours ago, but the lesbian subplot was decent and well written. The 4th episode was more painfully corny and predictable romcom antics, although it did a last minute twist making the guy gay at the end which was almost worth the boredom. I doubt I'll watch more of it since there are easier ways to watch /u/ and better shows to watch it in.

Just re-watched La Llamada, just as good the second time. Hispanic girls, age gap lesbians, and it's musical, it's like this movie was made for me. Be warned though, contains some bisluttery and the main romance is between a girl and god. Still, it's now my favorite musical, ousting Jesus Christ Superstar from it's place on top.
>>
>>2739915
Have four shows with cute girls who are into cute girls.
>>
>>2739963
With Hispanic are you referring to South and Central America? Because those actresses are all from Spain, some are actually pretty important names like Belén Rueda.

But I did not know anything about it and was surprised to see a film from my country mentioned here. I usually avoid Spanish films, even though the quality has improved lately, they still have that stigma for me after so many years of crap.
And it will probably end up on Netflix like many other Spanish productions so I will watch it then.
>>
>>2740350
Ahh, my bad I probably should have said Spanish in this context , I said Hispanic because the definition is "relating to Spain or to Spanish-speaking countries, especially those of Latin America", I kinda homed in on the "relating to spain" bit, they mention being in Spain in the movie so it's not like it's a Spanish movie that's pretending it's set in the Americas.

It's not really a fixation on girls from spain specifically though, I just love caramel colored women, especially when they come with cute accents.
>>
>>2740350
>it will probably end up on Netflix
Forgot to mention that it already is on Netflix in the states, that's where I watched it originally and also where I just re-watched it.
>>
Does Showgirls qualify as yuri if you cut out everything aside from the last five minutes?
>>
>>2740358
No worries. It is just that I usually read Hispanic when referring to LATAM and Spain gets always so overshadowed, it is a pity.

It is also on Netflix Spain, so I will try to watch it this week and come back with impressions. I also like musicals, so I remain hopeful.

And it is funny you mention the skin colour, because when I look at myself at the mirror all I can think is I should play less and do more outdoors activities. But every time I travel overseas, people always ask me if I am Italian or Spanish. I know I cannot get away with it.

Like the other anon said, the show is fun and the girls are very shippable. "Watson" is straight or bi, because she likes a man here and there. But her het dates never went anywhere because they all turned out to be assholes and Sherlock interrupted those anyway, which can be read as jealousy.

>>
Anybody watched Harlots? Supposedly has /u/.
>>
>>2742883
After reading about it I see there is a minor lesbian storyline in season 2, but the show is about prostitutes in victorian england, so I'm not going to bother watching hours of softcore het just to see a lesbian get whatever bad end the writers come up with.

The bright side is that while looking for confirmation on whether I should watch that show I actually found other things that look more worth the time. Looks like they are fairly recent too since no one here mentioned them yet.

>Hearts Beat Loud
>A father and daughter form an unlikely songwriting duo in the summer before she leaves for college.
Looks like the daughter is in a lesbian relationship according to IMDB. It actually has decent reviews too so I hope it is an honest to goodness /u/ movie without getting stuck on the usual western /u/ movie tropes.

>Duck Butter
>Two women, who are dissatisfied with the dishonesty they see in dating and relationships, decide to make a pact to spend 24 hours together hoping to find a new way to create intimacy.
Looks like it may be one of those boring movies where they just have sex the whole time with a pretense of story but I'll check to find out.

>Lez Bomb
>A still closeted young woman brings her girlfriend home for Thanksgiving, only to have her coming out efforts thwarted by the unexpected arrival of her male roommate.
Looks like it isn't out until next week. Sounds kind of terrible based on that sentence alone but I'm interested in finding /u/ holiday movies since it is almost that time of year.
>>
>>2742892
>Hearts Beat Loud
Was actually recommended earlier in this thread and it's great, the /u/ in it is good but it really isn't the focus imo, it's more focused on the relationship between a father and his daughter. That said the music is really good, the yuri is great when it's present, and the movie is just overall adorable and definitely worth a watch.
>>
>>2743011
Oh yeah, I see there, looks like not many people took notice either but I'll hopefully get a chance to watch it soon. I like movies where /u/ romance isn't center stage because 9 times out of 10 it turns the writing of the movie into shit. Case in point:

>Duck Butter
Ignore this one unless you like pointless weird shit. The title evokes gross imagery so it isn't a surprise but it only took maybe 15 minutes before I had enough and started to bounce around to skip through the rest because it was just too gross. The reason it was named this is based on a scene in the movie where the MC talks about having sex with a guy and she talks about her pussy cheese being the reason the guy left during sex. The crazy person the MC is seeing throws her literal shit at her at the end too, the movie is just batshit stupid and it gets worse the longer it goes on.
>>
>>2743057
Well I'm glad you spoiled me on that one, I'll be hard passing on that shit, that's disgusting. Hearts Beat Loud is one of the best new /u/ movies I've seen recently. I've already shilled both of these films in this thread but I'll do it again just in case you missed it, "A Date For Mad Mary" and "La Llamada" are really good if you can stand non-gold star lesbians.
>>
>>2743060
Part of the Duck Butter spoiler is taken out of context: the shit throwing is suposed to be a completely stupid thing to do and the MC tells the shit thrower she's stupid for doing something crazy like that to impress her which it didn't, shit thrower completely missed the point of a previous conversation
>>
>>2743723
Wow that makes it sound worse than what I imagined. To impress her? Everything about this sounds like the result of low-functioning autism.
>>
>>2743882
Actual MC shit thrower is a complicated person. The movie is not bad and that weird thing that happens has a reason to and is reacted to by the recipient of shit the same way you've just reacted too. Give the movie a try if you have time
>>
Quick question, is the L word worth watching? Seeing how it was a mainstream tv show some years ago, i'm afraid to watch a series where a bunch of girls are lesbians for a while, but go nuts the moment the "right guy" comes in. Are my fears just bullshit?
>>
>>2744464

>>
>>2744477
One main character is a bislut, and a relationship she has is with a transwoman in early transition. Another character played my Pam Grier is straight, and has a relationship with a man at one point. Nothing explicit though.

But yeah, MASSIVE amounts of drama. Soap opera tier writing and dialogue, just with the "groundbreaking" gimmick of lesbians. Much like Queer As Folk.
>>
>>2744735
So not something worth anyone's time? I don't mind shitty dramas as long as they have positive outcomes, but if this one is just your average "is wrong to be gay forever" type of shit then i guess i'll skip it. Any tv shows or webseries you'd recommend?
>>
>>2744868
It was good for it's time. It's part of history but yeah, unless you like soap drama with middling outcomes then there's not much of a reason to watch it now.
>>
>>2744464
>>2744868
It's not a mainstream show in the way you think. The showrunner was a lesbian, as were many of the writers, so they didn't do the typical "I'm a lesbian so my goal is to get a dick in me and then die" plots you seem to be expecting. It's still a soap opera, though.
>>
>>2744868
I could only stomach the first two seasons before I quit but as far as I'm aware the actual lesbians keep munching box throughout the show, men are only relevant with the bisexuals. It's really just a shitty hamfisted soap drama with lesbians, bisexuals and sex scenes but the fact that it existed really felt groundbreaking at the time.
>>
>>2743060
>Hearts Beat Loud
Finally got a chance to watch it and I can't impress upon all of /u/ to give it a try. Incredible music set pieces and an engaging performance by the lead actress. I need more time to think about it but it is definitely going to join my small selection of favorites that I rewatch frequently.

I was surprised that I didn't mind the bittersweet /u/ aspect at all. Actually I thought they'd go long distance because one of the lyrics in the song sounded like it implied such a thing, and all the mentions of the song's bridge as a story aspect made me think it was a clever use of musical lingo to direct the story's ending towards something when she sang it during the love song, but no, just me being stupid. I'll have to listen to the songs again though, partly because I want to think about it more carefully, but mostly because I really liked the singer's voice and the song is catchy.

I never would have guessed my favorite western /u/ experiences this year would be headlined by Ryan Reynolds and Nick Offerman.
>>
>>2729243
not really, I feel like they were really reaching when they tried to explain it. Just finished the show myself and it really felt like they didn't know what to do with Theo after episode 6. She felt like an accessory to Shirly's cheating arc. I would have loved a better confrontation with the house as well.
>>
I hear Absolutely Fabulous was gay. Is that true?
>>
>>2746802
As in Jennifer Saunder's sitcom? I don't know where you heard that because I'm pretty certain it's not. Eddy and Patsy are close friends and Patsy gets mad jealous when she's not the centre of attention but that's it.

>>
>>2747874
Just watched it. Felt like an above average indie movie and I was sucked in by the slow methodical story. I'd recommend it if you like slow burn mysteries, as it was pretty fun in that regard although not groundbreaking by any means. As for the /u/, I'm not 100% sure on a few points making it difficult to recommend solely for that aspect. MC is seen getting flushed from looking at the back of a woman, and later masturbates thinking of her. Then a few scenes later on she goes to a bar and waits to get hit on by a guy. Nothing is shown and the viewer rarely misses information about what the MC does so I take it that nothing happens, but I have no idea why they shot it in that case. Anyway, later she has sex with a girl she meets at a hotel. The male neighbor who asked her to go on a picnic was rebuffed, but the ending scene is her going on a picnic with him and his daughter at the beach. Probably friendly, but again, kind of confusing since the movie doesn't give context or explanation for these things. All in all 100% of the sexual scenes are /u/ and the MC appears to spur any male advances despite those few weird points that make me question why they wrote it the way they did. Would be a much better movie without them not just because of the /u/ derailment, but because they didn't add anything to the story.

May be worth seeing just to watch Olivia Thirlby act for an hour and a half though, she was really quite good.

>too gay for Korea

>Fantasy of the Girls
A love triangle in an all girls school set during a romantic play that likely doesn't end in death? Sounds fun. Hopefully they don't mess it up by tiptoeing around actually making all the cast incapable of acting on their gayness. Who was the guy sitting on her bed with the 'fro at the end? If it was a western movie I'd expect him to be the gay best friend, but it's an all-girls school.

According to reviews I read, it's said to be lighthearted and drama-free. And it will deal with a love triangle between the director (student) and the leads. Anyway the yuri could be very light (handholding and a bit of a kiss) and it may take a year or more for it to be available internationally.

I've watched ICTS but not RED. ICTS was forgettable, not too bad... Not offensive at least.
Just watched a trailer for RED and it got me aroused. Good shit.

>>2767146
You're right neechan, Saving Face is great. Not on the same level of the first 3 I mentioned but definitely a pleasant surprise as I was expecting the yuri to be 100% on the side.
There's also Imagine Me and You, pure fun and you get to fantasize about Headey and/or Perabo for weeks after.
>>
I feel like A Date for Mad Mary doesn't get enough recognition.
>>
>>2767194
I haven't seen it though. Is it available online?
>>
>>2772408
Everything is available online if you're morally corrupt like myself. I don't know where you'd go about buying it, but I did find a torrent when I looked.
>>
>>2767194
Thanks for recommending this, I really liked it. Pretty sure I would never have come across it otherwise. I'd say it should make the list. Now I really want to find out more about the one woman play version.
>>
>>2767144
watched a few episodes of RED and it reminded me of another /u/ movie about a depressed girl writing poems in her free time getting a visit from an extravagant woman on the night of her birthday. can't recall wether it was portuguese or spanish and holy fuck I can't remember the title.
>>
>>2774506
It was Brazilian and titled The Perfum of Memory
>>
>>2774650
Is it good though? There are three reviews for it and it seems really divisive, since two of the are an eight and the last one is a two.
>>
>>2774919
On the user reviews of IMDb? I wouldn't put too much weight on them, even if the sample size wasn't so small. That site is full of morons.
>>
>>2774650
yeah that was it, well played sister !

>>2774919
I dunno, depends on you. I did like it, the actresses are cute, there's a nice chemistry and a good ending. But I guess one of the girls really is larger than life and is married to a man so if you're not into that... Though if you watched red you shouldn't be too shocked. Also, the movie is filled with short sequences of two random girls playing instruments. Which I found were perfectly unnecessary.
Watch until the very last seconds.

Too bad Futari Monologue doesn't receive attention but that's the consequence of Japan not spending money in international lobbies so the Koreans have the monopoly of fansubs. It's actually a pretty cute series, even if it serves as an ad for the manga.

If anyone can speak español, this is where you can download the full series with spanish subs

I'm not surprised it isn't very popular, considering the original looks like a Lovecraftian horror. Most yuri consumers want to look at cute girls, not disfigured abominations.
>>
>>2775099
I know that site and was wondering why an AKB48 fansite would sub that dorama until I saw Sayanee on an episode screenshot. I guess I'll watch it then
>>
>>2775733
This is exactly why I dropped the manga, the art is a major turnoff.
>>
You're just going to say I had my yuri goggles on too tight, but I just watched Ginger Snaps and I swear there was some gay incest shit going on there.
>>
>>2783100
If you are a googles user you probably are gonna love Ghost in the sequel and her relationship with Bridget.
Personally, i just think Katharine Isabelle, Ginger, has mad chemistry with women.

Finally got to watch 2nd season of Runaways and God, the scenes between Nico and Karolina and the actresses that play them are so hot and fitting(really seeing the smaller Asian girl Lyrica Okano getting on with Virginia Gardner is a miracle itself), and so adorable together.
I'm also glad they decided to change the comics canon things and actually make the shapeshifter a female form from start to fit Karolina preferences, indeed this version is much gayer than the comic and it's good.
Still licking a pussy which emanates light must be an experience.
>>
>>2785785
Second season is leagues better than the first.
>>
>>2785785
What are her powers? She emanates light, but is that all she does? Does she buzz with energy too?
>>
Shame no one likes Chasing Amy for petty reasons, because I still think it's pretty good.
>>
>>2786219
Yeah, who doesn't like a story about a bislut claiming to be a lesbian and does nothing but fuck dudes the whole time?
>>
>>2786219
>It's about a guy in a relationship with a 'lesbian'

Oh gee I wonder why it isn't liked on /u/. It's not about it being a bad film in general, it's about it being completely irrelevant here.

The Favourite can be downloaded now, albeit not in the best quality. But watchable.

18th century England, lesbians, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and high ratings. Sounds great.

>the favourite
is it good ? can't bring myself to watch it because of my fear of bad ends.

btw speaking of queens and stuff, I don't recall seeing the girl queen talked about here. anyone seen it ?
>>
>>2786722
Huh, I only heard about this the other day on the news. Didn't even know it had lesbianism until that Graham Norton clip with Olivia Colman, but I thought it was too good to be actually be more than a joke scene.
>>
>>2786728
>my fear of bad ends.
It's by Yorgos Lanthimos. It's not going to be a nice movie.
>>
>>2786746
Plus it's based on a real queen. Stories based on real life don't tend to have happy endings.
>>
>>2786746
>Yorgos Lanthimos
shit is that supposed to be an eldritch horror or something
>>
>>2786759

Too much tentacles involved since people haven't adopted good cyberpunk eldritch horror yet. We're getting there but nothing that hits the mainstream running.
>>

Interestingly, the idea of Queen Anne having sexual relations with her servants is almost certainly just 18th century political smack talk, so this isn't really much of a true story. It's supposed to be good, though.

>the girl queen
Isn't that the 'Girl King'? That's the one I saw. It's pretty average - storytelling and acting wise. Plus, it's based off a real queen so it's not like the movie will have a happy ending. Anyway, the only beef I have with that movie is that Queen Christina is Swedish but the whole movie is in English. The actress who played the queen is, iirc, also Swedish BUT they still chose to let her speak in English. I mean, it's a petty complain I know, but if you see the movie, you'll see that the queen's acting was definitely affected by her trying to speak in English. Both of the actresses are good-looking though.

Yuri-wise, it has two major scenes I think. They're all kisses. I saw it a long time ago but I think there's a nude scene too where the two female leads almost did it. Not really a spoiler but one of them got married to a man
>>
>>2787455
>Isn't that the 'Girl King'?
obviously it is, I'm retarded
well since historically christina went all "fuck that", abdicated and didn't marry I did have some hope about the movie. thanks for the input !

I remember the ad. Not the song. The ad is available on YouTube. Shazaam the song!

So I watched Holy Camp and it was alright, are there any other musicals?
>>
>>2786762
>>2786759
There are always historians that differ on what was possible and what wasn't. Some argue it isn't too far-fetched for Queen Anne to have been physical with her female subjects judging by all the hints you find in letters about these women and between these women. But Queen Anne was particularly pious and prudish. What we have is a film that doesn't pain itself in being historically accurate but makes a show of imagery that represents elements of truth. And the jealousy that erupted between those women was very real.

A Simple Favor is unsurprisingly not a movie to watch for the /u/ but I saw the scene where Anna Kendric sort of makes out with Blake Lively and I was bored so I watched the movie to see how much hollywood could disappoint me again. There's a few scenes implying that Blake's character was sleeping with a female artist, the artist calls herself a dyke sarcastically so its not even implicit really, but the MCs are still the same aggressively het stereotypes that all western movies use. Anyway the movie wasn't awful but it was not good either, pretty disappointed with it even from a non/u/ perspective. The mystery was painfully obvious from the beginning, making the last half of the movie where it starts to get revealed even worse because Blake's character was the only interesting thing about the movie but it ruined it because it turns out she actually is just a psycho bislut and the character development goes out the window to make a ridiculously implausible ending happen As far mysteries go I enjoyed White Orchid more, though that one was weird /u/ so it still doesn't scratch the itch I have for a good /u/ mystery.

Frozen...but seriously theres not really a ton of mainstream, or in this case mainstream enough, musicals with gay characters to get adapted to tv/movies.
>>
>>2789587
A Simple Favor started out as a hacky novel trying to go after the Gone Girl bucks. The film adaptation is a parody of it and the whole genre, which is why it gets so silly in the end.

>>2788816
Maureen in Rent is a bisexual whose most significant relationship is with a woman. The film version isn't very good, though, and her character doesn't get that much attention. There's going to be a live tv version aired later this month.

GirlTrash: All Night Long is fun.
>>
>>2762452
Isn't this a song?
>>
>>2740457
There are plenty of other super gay moments besides that, but I'd say "no". I still loved the vibe the two had going on, though.
>>
>>2788816
I don't rec it for /u/ because the characters are really secondary and they die, literally everybody dies, but in The Guy That Hates Musicals one of the secondary characters has a gay daughter.
Its a really indie, the small cast plays different characters as the story needs it and has minimal fx, horror comedy musical about a plague of musical zombies based on old syfy invasion movies, like the Body Snatchers and stuff like that.
The entire thing is on Youtube in HD if you want to check it.
Also, i think the Mean Girls musical kinda counts? because i read that the girl that play Janis said that she is playing the character as gay or something like that, i did read that they changed a little the ending and now Janis doesn't ends with a guy at the end like in the movie.
I might watch the bootleg later and see for myself thou.

Watched the favourite, fantastic movie. Not the happiest /u/ experience but the relationship/s were not downplayed. I quite like the director and his surreal style though, this is probably his most accessible film narratively that I've seen but the style remains.
