Honestly, it was too short. It was too tightly packed with plot not directly related to the heroine compared to yuri content, so it just kinda leaves you wanting more.

Last and First Idol and Harmony are both translated, by J-Novel Club and Viz respectively, you can easily find them online.
Harmony also has a movie which I recommend checking out as well.
>>
>>2896457
Why did it have to be moved? From what I read that was translated it was no less violent than Omae Gotoki... or is there more explicit sexual content later?
>>
>>2896928
The heavy sexual content (no direct references to sexual organs / acts though*).

Narou is really shitty with their rules about sexual content. Getting strikes on account and they won't tell which chapter the infringement is. Enforcement is also completely haphazard, as can bee seen with this work that has been finished for quite a while and just got struck randomly now. Authors end up being paranoid and over-censuring.

(*except for the chapters that were on the r18 version of the site to begin with)
>>

The heavy *amount of* sexual content

Something's been bugging me, when Flum hits thugs with the back of her blade in self-defense shouldn't simply touching it still cause their flesh to melt? Reversal only works on her, and doesn't nullify the curse right, or am I misunderstanding how it works?

Often in fantasy the curse afflicts by virtue of "using" the item. You aren't possessed by a helmet because you touch it, but because you put it on--which is why often part of the curse is being unable to remove the item. Much like how say, touching the cursed gold from Pirates of the Caribbean isn't going to turn you into a skeleton, it's taking possession of it that will.

Which isn't to say there aren't plenty of cursed items in fiction that effect anyone who comes into contact with it (the one ring, or Durarara's Saika for example).

In RPGs, cursed items are usually one of two varieties, the "outright evil" kind where you don't want to touch it with your bare hands or horrible shit happens, or the "fooled you" type where it's fine to pick it up, but if you put on the ring/helmet/necklace, or draw the sword to fight something, it curses you specifically. Rising of the Lesbian Sword Hero's sword and other items seem to fall into the second type.
>>
>>2897050
>Rising of the Lesbian Sword Hero
You just threw that in there like I should know what it is and I agree, I definitely should know what that is.
>>

>>
>>2897713

LN
>>
>>2897716
Yes. I am just curious about the ones in your spoilers and if any of those will come into fruition anytime soon. Both of those, actually. I'm sure the latter is one sided.
>>
>>2897716
The hero party's mage also has a thing with a cripple girl, although I think it doesn't go as far as the other two couples.
>>
>>2897713
Flum and Milkit: around chapter 4 they come to terms with the fact they love each other, have their first kiss at the begginning of chapter 7 and chapter 10 is them living their happy ending, with the last chapter being their wedding
Their relationship grows closer and more intimate every chapter, it's one of the best slow-burn romance I've read and the LN is handling it even better than the WN by exploring their feelings, Milkit's development as a functional human being and even Flum's sexual attraction to her more than it did on the WN

>>2897716
The others: Sara and Neigas have a big upgrade in their relationship in chapter 8, they even fuck offscreen. Eterna and Ink's turn is on chapter 10
As for Cyrill, it does look like that for a good deal of the WN, even Flum begins wondering if the hero might have a crush on her on chapter 10 after everything's settled, but Cyrill assures her she doesn't
On a related note, there's an incident offscreen where Milkit punched Cyrill for overstepping her boundaries and Cyrill became so depressed she shut herself in for months, she also keeps referencing it as a very important moment in her life and it almost looks like she might have a thing for Milkit, but that might be just my goggles
>>
>>2897870
I swa illustration for vol2 So what's up with Ink, why does she has the spiral face?
>>
>>2897972
She was part of a secret church project of children using Origin cores in order to enhance their powers and make them Origin's direct subordinates, the rest of the children and their caretaker are the main antagonists of chapter 5
So, short answer: She has and Origin core implanted on her, all creatures with that shit inside of them get a spiral face

Don't know if it's yuri but it did get posted by that TsuzuriYuri bot.

It's an isekai story but the MC isn't from the "real" world, she's from another fantasy world where she's already level 100 and gets sent to another world where the level cap is 9999 and she's still max level there.

I've never really gotten the point of stories like this where the protagonist can already take on literally anything in the world without breaking a sweat but there it is.

There's also a WN on Narou in case any moonreaders care to see if it's relevant.
https://ncode.syosetu.com/n2020fc/
>>
>>2900128
There's some overlap with slice-of-life in those stories.
>>
>>2900128
No GL or yuri tags on the narou version. Read a couple of chapters though and it's at least subtext, with no het stuff.
>>
tfw you look for Omae Gotoki fanart on pixiv and actually find nothing but yuri. There’s not a lot, though, and it’s all pretty much from one person. Also it seems like the artist has their own interpretation of Milkit.
>>
>>2900360
I do seem to remember the text saying that Milkit’s hair was silver. Not sure why the LN artist decided to make it blue

>>

The LN's version is arguably silver with the blue being used for shadows (I'd call it pewter, but the actual LN describes it as 薄い灰色 i.e. a light gray so either one seems fine) but the manga is outright blue, I can only assume because they looked at the LN illustration and mistook the blue-shaded grey for just being blue.
>>
>>2900573
Speaking of the manga, did it just stop after one chapter? I haven’t been able to find anymore info about it and am starting to think that maybe it was just a promo for the LN or something

I'm kinda amazed given how much overlap there is between western weeb communities and western fanfiction communities that there isn't a much larger western web/light novel scene.
>>
>>2901902
It's probably an issue of how much money Western weebs are willing to spend compared to Chinese weebs. For example, besides Japanese mobages they also have tons of mobages of their own.

People who aspire to be serious authors in the west generally don't learn to write in that style though. They expect to spend a couple of years to come out with one huge work that will maybe have a sequel later down the line instead of releasing small tidbits every month or so.
>>
>>2902004
There was a list of webstories from the site Royal Road and all of them are LitRPG style and many obviously taking inspiration from Japanese LitRPG light novels. Of course most of them were also really badly written and so the obvious barrier to publishing shows itself. Any LitRPG that has like actual backing behind it would be influenced by like Dungeons and Dragons and not JRPGs.

I dunno. I'd say that fanfiction is often written in a quite similar small release style. Obviously western writer-writers aren't really the same sort of writer as Japanese LN/web writers, but I think western fanfiction authors are often basically doing the same thing, but for an existing IP rather than there own. Just seems strange that people put out thousands of chapters of various fanfictions per month but there are very few who make the leap to "Oh, I could just do this but for my own IP like Easterns do."

>>2902177
Makes sense, I guess.
>>
>>2902177
There’s nothing in the West like the “light novel mill” in Japan. There’s no incentive for people to think they could be the next Reki Kawahara. At most I’ve seen some authors with tip jars or Paterons
>>
>>2900981
>It does have the GL tag, and I’m pretty sure kiki only writes yuri
I did some skimming and shoddy translation. It's quite gay. Seems like Saya (MC) has been building a yuri harem, and even the ~3 chapter historic flashback was a yuri romance story.
(I'll spoiler the harem details since who ends up in the harem potentially spoils plot points), Saya has Fafnir and ニーズヘッグ (Nidhogg I assume?), two female dragons that take on teenage human form and lack some human sensibilities towards personal space and when to wear clothing; and Titania, who seems to be sort of like a jorogumo (https://i.imgur.com/jiUgsQk.png), but part scorpion rather than spider (so besides the arms she also has a tail) and can apparently hide the extra arms/tail at will to also look human. Titania x Saya is super adorable age gap even from my brief look.
>>
>>2901902
There is, though you often see them call themselves "web serials" or something like that. The problem with them is that there are no websites that would act as central "hubs" for them like there are for Asian language web novels so it's usually up to the individual reader to accidentally stumble upon the author's blog.

Hard to say, I mean apart from Omae Gotoki I've only read the part of Isekai Vampire that's translated, which I thought was kind of try-hard edgy I mean, apart from talking about being constantly abused one of the first things the protagonist talks about how a teacher was nice to her and because of that she got raped... like, what?. And a lot of her backstory seems to be purely to try and excuse her for the horrific things she does as a vampire.

I actually think Omae Gotoki is pretty well-balanced in terms of darkness and lightheartedness. I'm curious to know what the tone of the cross-dressing one is like

>And a lot of her backstory seems to be purely to try and excuse her for the horrific things she does as a vampire.
I didn't get that impression at all. It's not about justifying her actions, because she never even takes the mindset of "oh bad stuff was done to me so it's fine to do it to other people" . It seems pretty clearly written with the acknowledgement that she's essentially a villain. It's a story about conquest not revenge. The edgy prologue bit was about her being completely empty and broken as a person, which made her ideal to turn into an existence that is solely focused around consumption/desire/wants, basically she had nothing and was nothing so she was in a perfect position to want everything--and it's fully the vampire, "in-human" half that pushes for to do horrible shit, not her bullied half (the side that would have justification from the backstory).
>teacher
That's a pretty normal trope. No one helps out the target of bullying in manga/anime because they'll immediately also be targeted.

But my comment was less about writing quality and more about kiki being a diehard yuri fan who writes nothing but yuri, and yuri in all sorts of genres that are in desperate need of yuri (isekai, fantasy stuff, harem series, horror, action, power fantasy, etc.) As well as having male characters largely be fodder for slaughter. Also, she posts like daily mini yuri stories on twitter.

>I'm curious to know what the tone of the cross-dressing one is like

It may also be a part of a larger series of posts, not sure
>>
>>2914682
My Japanese is not that good but I think she's saying she wants to make female protagonists and male ones closer in terms of appeal to the LN audience, but she finds it difficult to apply the same ideas. In a response to a follow-up tweet that said that female characters just require different kinds of emotions to be explored, she says something about female protagonists having a different tone than males.
>>
>>2914682
Judging by pronoun usage and some tweet I can't remember exactly, kiki is male. That should be in the archives.

Here is the tweet:
I really know how popular male protag is constructed. It is easy to know. I don't know whether I can produce my own but I know I could try hard to make it so. But the problem is "Does that apply to female protag?" It is very hard. I don't know why.

This anon >>2918477 is full of shit. It's an odd relationship but they confess they are in love with each other at the end.

Also the last paragraph subtly hints they are about to have sexy times.

Side-by-side Dreamers is a bit short for the price, only taking a few hours to read. It left me wanting more in a general sense, which is a nice problem to have for an author, but also because it feels like a lot of parts were edited out which should have fleshed out the characters, their relationships, and the way the endgame played out.

Because those parts are missing the ending feels like a bit of a Dues Ex, the relationship occasionally feels rushed and the character's actions often feel arbitrary, which makes all that theory of mind crap in the interviews look a bit silly. You can kind of tell it's there helping to make sure that the characters feel consistent, except when they aren't, and their actions make sense, except when they don't.

Last bit of criticism isn't on the author but the English version's editor, who let far too many typos, grammatical mistakes and translation artifacts slip through.

Despite all that I still enjoyed it. For all its flaws the main relationship is pretty cute. The story itself is creative and pulls you in. It's also a nailbiter right to the end so you definitely want to read it all in one go. I think the price should be lower but still recommend buying it if you have yuribucks to burn.

Fun coincidence; at my workshift just after reading this thing, all the schoolkids were carrying all manner of quilts, blankets, sleeping bags and beanbags home.

Theory of mind was Gengen's stuff (because he's a science nerd), not Miyazawa's.

You could argue they were in love with each other from the very beginning, depending on how you perceive Nightland (not sure what terms were used in the English version, but ナイトランド should be straightforward).

It is a bit of a shame the implied second couple got no development, and in general the pacing felt like a movie compilation of a magical girl TV series, if you know what I mean (everyone keeps comparing it to Madoka, but it has more of a Yuuki Yuuna-ish feel if you ask me). The fancy dreamscapes definitely took priority over characters, though the way they gradually led to the climax was handled nicely.

I enjoyed the original a lot, GOAT book, if there's one gripe besides the length that I have, it's that it wasn't really clear what the hell were Neversleeper powers; for someone who is supposedly unaffected by being in the dream worlds, Saya barely ever was lucid. Maybe I didn't understand something, I dunno. Perhaps that's why the ending feels deus ex-ish.

On a tangentially related note, Hitsuji's fluffy hair would have made for an excellent bed.

I don't want to spoiler all that since it would take some of the fun out of the book.
The first two dreams don't make a lot of sense, even in hindsight. It's like the author wrote them a couple of years before the rest of the book.

>It is a bit of a shame the implied second couple got no development
Ain't that the truth. it was one of the things I was thinking of when I said it felt like Miyazawa's editor butchered the manuscript.

>it wasn't really clear what the hell were Neversleeper powers
I get the impression that Saya was designed to be an anti-mary-sue. Like the polar opposite of the modern OP isekai hero. So normally a neversleeper would have some useful powers but Saya was just weak and only got a mild resistance to Hitsuji's blanket.

“Royal road fantasy?” The definition of Royal road seems to be to attain something without difficulty. So is that a term they use for Narou-kei fics where the protagonist is OP and they succeed in everything with minimum effort?

Yeah it's kept unclear who actually likes whom with MC, priestess and knight for quite a few chapters.

As for the couples:
MC x priestess
and then the side couple wolf x elf. Can't actually remember how far the main couple went. Things got a bit messy with the sisterly vows and such. Side couple was very clear though.

Aw shit, Elaina got licensed. Shame it will take ages before it gets to the really yuri parts.

Yeah, it's an odd situation. Knight has also done the sisterly vows with the priestess. Not sure if author is going for some kind of betrayal subplot at some point but the potential of it is interesting. Would be pretty out of character for the knight but then again she is an enigma, so what she really feels about the situation is unclear.

Well, the childhood friend wanted to marry both sisters from the beginning.

Probably because she got proper nutrition instead of living the starving slave life.

And she is the same age as Flam here, I think.

Yeah, they are in the same class, while in the main story Flum is 16 and Milkit is 14. Perhaps main story Milkit will have similar developments now that she's leading a healthier lifestyle.

Author of Strongest Tag Team has been replying to people in English. Thought it was cool since you don’t often see Japanese writers interact with foreign audience. Probably only other case I’ve seen was author of IFTV?

There were some illustrations posted from this one. This is the only one that was /u/ relevant.

There’s also this one of the protagonist stabbing some guy in the head. I don’t know the context but he’s dressed like a generic Japanese high schooler so I’m going to imagine she just killed off a harem protagonist

We need a story about a girl who gets isekai'd in to a crapsack world that has spiralled in to various flavours of dystopian hell thanks to the capricious and self-centered behavoir of all the previous (mostly male) OP Isekai heroes.

Like all the other heroes before her who tried to actually help people, or just found themselves in the territory of someone who hates competition, she gets attacked by the existing heroes, who generally act like all-powerful local warlords.

At first she barely escapes these encounters but she slowly starts to git gud and begins killing all the corrupt heroes. She then proceeds to build yuritopia in a nation where all the men were killed off by a cabal of heroes.

So kind of like Strongest Fairy except a darker setting and the MC is not an order of magnitude more op then the other heroes.

Biggest issue with this setting, and maybe a good reason to not write the story, might be how to deal with the problem of rape. A lot of stories with dark settings just never touch on the subject, which is a slightly immersion-breaking method but better then a lot of alternatives. Acknowledging that the heroes abuse their power in this way a lot but never showing it on-screen is another solution. With this story you could you could even make the MC's OP power "Protector of women" so she can shut down anything like that before it begins.
>>
>>2924611
How is this novel, anyway? It's mostly subtext or explicit yuri?
>>
>>2924710
Based on the plot blurb, the protagonist in that story is literally an executioner for isekai'd people because they caused problems in the past.
>>
>>2924858
Wow, so >>2924822 may not have been too far off the mark.
>>
>>2924858
needs to be more of those
>>
>>2924822
I just want more yuri isekai in general.
>>
>>2924858
>MC meets Akari, an isekai'd girl who revives after being killed
>travels with her, pretending to be a friend, while looking for a way to kill her
>Akari is a nice girl and MC's heart slowly becomes shaken

Sounds fun.

Yuri isekaishit for lesbian waifufags sounds ok for me

No explicit romance between two main characters. Very strong bond but only occasional kiss. Sub characters has explicit relationship in web version but I don't know whether it will be in the print.

>>2924709
Pink girl (sub) is obsessed with blonde girl (main).

>>2924710
That's a story of prologue. It sets up "this is not your average isekai" feeling nicely.

How much yuri does this novel have? I don't mind if it's few as long as there's an explicit romance even if it's at the end only.

No explicit romance, more like obsession. I suggest you not to read that novel.

How is it these extras are more fucked up than anything in the main story? I’m just guessing Origin is screwing around with Flum’s mind or something?
>>
>>2927838
The last part of the second extra suggests that these events actually happened and then the world was destroyed, while the first extra suggests it's Flum's dream. My thoughts are that these were real events orchestrated by Origin to destroy humanity while slowly gaining power somehow (as seen by the huge tonal shift between the first and second extra) and then build a new world. He may be showing Flum her past life to tell her that no matter what she does she won't be able to escape her fate.
>>
>>2927852
The tonal shift was really creepy. This Origin deity is seriously giving me Cthulu vibes. If there's one good thing though, is that Milkit and Flum's relationship is meant to be.
>>
>>2927962
Well in the first volume the underground lab was already giving me Resident Evil vibes
>>
>>2927978
It gave me a bit of a Silent Hill vibe in the hallway/corridors.
>>
>>2927852
>My thoughts are that these were real events orchestrated by Origin
Yes, this. Keeping in mind Kiki's comment about the extra in Vol3's afterword:
>Oh, and by the way, as a little bonus there’s a little extra story that you can read if you answer the survey after the link at the end of the book. It touches a little more on the true identity of Origin than in the main novel, so if you read it you might be able to enjoy the main story a little more.

Also in the vol2 interlude the demonlord talks about the seal on Origin and says
“No matter what, we can’t let that wicked ‘god’ Origin do as it pleases.” so it makes sense that the extras are showing us what happened the last time it was free. I bet Dieza's a turncoat.

Though Origin seemed to have the world on lockdown and most of humanity dead at the end of extra 2, which just makes me more curious about how he got overthrown.
>>
>>2928182
> what happened the last time it was free
Or Origin is higher dimensional and the extra was it destroying a parallel reality.
>>
>>2928182
>extra story that you can read if you answer the survey after the link at the end of the book
This kind of thing confuses me. If I only buy the physical LN will I be getting an incomplete story because some of the extras are in weird places?
>>
>>2928482
Depends, if you think the past era is that important.
>>
>>2928835
I actually preferred it when I thought this was just a regular fantasy story. The fact that Flum might have been a Japanese schoolgirl in a past life kind of makes this an isekai story now, and the idea that she and Milkit were somehow fated to be together actually kind of reduces the impact that their meeting had as being pure chance

I’d kind of rather think of this as a what-if type scenario or Origin doing some Evangelion-inspired mindfuck. But maybe it will make more sense in later volumes
>>
>>2928890
It's not really an isekai unless the character has knowledge of the other life. That's like the fundamental feature of the genre, applying knowledge and experience of the previous life/world to the new one. Also I don't think Flum/Milkit happening twice makes it any more fated than it already was, if either of them hadn't been in that cell that day they would have both died by now.
>>
is omae gotoki a tragedy or suffering kind of ln
the beginning is real harsh and while that's normal a lot of the time with these does it actually get better or does she keep suffering
honestly don't want to read about some innocent girls suffering, it's not enjoyable, can't even cum to it like fatal pulse
>>
>>2929049
Thanks,
I was going to give you a serious answer until that last bit saved me the effort.
>>
>>2929050
I'm glad that joke upset you. You deserve it.
>>
>>2928890
>the idea that she and Milkit were somehow fated to be together actually kind of reduces the impact that their meeting had as being pure chance
I feel the same way about their romance.

>But maybe it will make more sense in later volumes
I haven't read extra 2 yet but if I'm going to think of extra 1 in relation to past life thing in the epilogue arc of the WN, it's really just an extra, history story.

>>2929049
Suffering with sweet moments in between and ends with happy yuri.
>>
>>2928482
Extra are extras or original for the sake of giving an interesting short story for those who answered or even no canon to the main story. So dont worry, now if they author says it has relation to the story then shit, but I dont think so.

Has anyone read The Demon King’s Daughter is a Hikki-neet? It’s got a yuri subplot tag.
Also learned about The Prodigy Sefira from manga adaptation. Apparently the MC gets a female knight companion but don’t see any yuri related tags on the novelupdates page

>The Demon King’s Daughter is a Hikki-neet?
Yeah, web version was put on hiatus and has been like that for many months now, ending pretty abruptly. It's mostly CGDCT.

The main yuri is MC and the dragon girl being teased by dragon girl's mother and blushing, not understanding their feelings for each other.
>>

Is that unusual? I figure that when an author gets published that’s incentive for them to keep writing.
I actually have heard that sometimes if they were originally writing just as a hobby they end up not being able to keep up with the demands of a publisher
>>
>>2930542
>I figure that when an author gets published that’s incentive for them to keep writing.
Might be due to low sales and him dropping it completely. Same author as 9999. Saw some comment from him that said: "not enough bookmarks/pageviews so I'm dropping this" on one of his other works on Narou. He seems to drop and make new stuff quite frequently.
