The art is good but the plot is lackluster. Nothing ever happens. You can go from one chapter to the next without missing anything vital. The story has no end game.

Lost track of this series for a while but just read all the way from the end of Sakura of Oblivion to the start of the Sewer monster. Damn I seriously missed it. It's just so great watching Kuroko doing work, the lesbian part is also a very VERY nice bonus. Murcielago is following the classic formula of having episodic story arcs while also introducing, little by little, a final conflict. It's absolutely peak anime/manga storytelling. Everything from Cowbw Bebop to Mai Otome has that pattern. Also I actually like the investigation parts of the story a lot. Some of the payoffs aren't perfect but most of them are very satisfying.

I really wish the manga would go back to the art style of the earlier chapters, but that’ll probably never happen. Kuroko just looks like some sort of strange noodle-monkey hybrid half of the time now. Hopefully if Murciélago EVER gets an anime (fingers crossed), the art style will be closer to that of the first volume.
