Actually, now that I see the two groups, Mashu seems to have more of a tendency to split the band into pairs more than Plasmagica. Howan tends to hang out more with Himeko while Delmin hangs out more with Ruhuyu.I don't think Plasmagica really pairs them up like that. Although Retoree is the one that has a crush on Cyan, the OP actually has Chuchu and Himeko as parallels of each other in their band because they're the defacto leaders.

Speaking as someone who never watched the Plasmamagica seasons, the first two episodes felt too wacky and tonally different to the more down-to-earth Mashumairesh episodes.The latest episode though felt just like an episode from last season. Personally I prefer this type of episode more because they're way gayer.
