Its KanoKuku/Kuukaa still the most popular ship?
>>
>>3539805
Who even cares at this point.
We're not going to see anymore of them in the show with these hack writers in charge.

Yes and KanoChisa is the second most popular ship.

is it only based on pixiv rankings? I am very curious to know what the Japanese think, I do not know if they have done a poll in Japanese forums or something like that

Yeah it is only based on Pixiv. Not sure if there a way to know the popularity outside of that site but I do know that Sum*Keke is still being bashed on 2ch and 5ch.

Which love live series do you think it has the best couples?
>>
>>3540014
Niji and Aqours
>>
>>3540014
As someone who's realy into fanfics and stuff, all of the series have characters I deeply enjoy, so it's really down to the artist/writer, even rare pairings are fine if the talents is there. I feel like I haven't bonded with Niji and Superstar yet, but both series still have yet to finish so it's bound to happen eventually. Superstar so far is literally begging for fanwork, where's our yuri?!
>>
>>3540014
I have my favorites from Aqours, Niji, and Liella, but μ's is the only one I feel little passion for.

Niji is the only one in which I like all of the characters, and thus like all of the ships too.

Never cared about Muse. I don't like 9/9 of the characters and care about none of the ships.
At first I cared about some Aqours ships, but now I barely care about them too. I hate 5/9 of the characters, and none of the rest that I somewhat don't hate are commonly shipped with each other.
The anime currently is failing to make me care about the Liella girls. I don't like 5/5 of the characters and care about none of the ships.

Love Live rarely has large official ship polls, so Pixiv is the most objective and quantifiable way we have to measure popularity of ships, and as someone said in the last thread, it is blatantly clear that Love Live staff keeps track of what happens on there.
The way that the main ships that get pushed almost always happen to perfectly line up with what's popular on Pixiv is no coincidence.

no, it's just Ayumu's stamina has going higher since she becomes an idol

>Was there some interview or seiyuu thing that revealed Yuu's super weak? It seems like an oddly specific headcanon for multiple artists to be running with.
It's been a thing since ep13 of the anime when Ayumu grabbed Yu's hand and started running with her towards the final venue, and when they got there Ayumu was shown physically fine whilst Yu was visibly out of breath.
Until recently only a handful of fanartists depicted it though, it has suddenly boomed for some unknown reason.

Are you saying that that is what qualifies as "yuri" now?
Out of 21 minutes runtime, a single meaningless shot which lasted for three measly seconds.
How the hell did we get from Nijigasaki which had thoughtful, emotional explorations of the girls and the relationships between them in each episode, to -this- ?

I finished watching the new episode and oh my god... why Kanon is still doing everything?
We know that she is the leader but the other characters need to contribute too. At this point, the show could be called Kanon and her mistresses which would be more accurate.

Who is the one that forgives and recruited Sumire?
Kanon
Who is the one that helped Chisato regained her confidence and makes her join the group?
Kanon
Who is the one that solves the stupid Ren's drama and the one that found the photobook?
Kanon
Who came up with the group name?
Kanon

Meanwhile, for Niji, Yuu is the one that helped Kasumi, Emma helped Ai, Emma helped Karin (It is cute considering Karin is the one that helped Emma when she first came to Japan)
The whole group helped Rinari get over her anxiety. The group helped Kanata. Kasumi is the one that helped Shizuku (It's adorable that Shizuku gave the pendant to her) The group helped Karin in her episode. Finally, Setsuna helped Ayumu. Bonus, VP helped the group in the final episode. Even the trio in Ayumu's fan club helped. Let's also not forget Rina's friends.

We got some KanoKeke in Ep7 and a little bit in this episode though. This episode had more KanoChi, but KanoKekeChi would be fine for me, but Kuusumi doesn't make any sense to me. Her relationship does not have a single positive aspect beyond being a comic relief
>>
>>3543514
If they really wanted to push SumiKeke, they should have made Keke the one to chase after Sumire and not Kanon. It could also have been Keke be the one that recruits her. The only reason why Keke knows about Sumire's situation is that Kanon told her about it.
>>3543537
Yeah, SumiKeke literally has no chemistry, it's basically Keke being bitchy toward Sumire all the time. I am so surprised that Sumire did not quit after Keke's bullying. Also, I don't remember if Keke says Sumire's name.
>>
>>3543546
I've heard people speculate that they're aiming for a NicoMaki-style double-tsundere relationship, but Sumire's characterization makes it fall apart.

With Nico we had the reveal that all her two-faced idol activities were in service of making her 3 siblings proud of her (who she's effectively raising alongside her single mother). With Sumire we already have her backstory we know she doesn't even like school idols. She's just going along with them because she's chasing celebrity, which is just awful.

I know people will still like Sumire entirely because of her bitchiness and gag chara status, but it makes me not want to ship her with anyone.
>>
>>3543351
I decided early on that comparing this to Nijigasaki is only going to lead to disappointment. They're clearly not aiming for the same yuri angle with the characters.
>>
>>3543580
If they really are aiming for another NicoMaki, then they absolutely fails.
Indeed, Nico has a legitimate reason to be like that while Sumire is just an attention whore and a clout chaser. I would have like Sumire if she had a different backstory. Yeah, she should be shipless at this point. Her ships in a nutshell.

Yuri aside the interactions in Superstar consistently feel like they're more "shallow" (for lack of a better word) than they usually are in Love Live. There were glimpses of deeper connections in episodes 1, 3 and 6, but overall it just feels super lacking considering they don't even have to spread the screentime amongst 9 characters this time.

It's obvious that these writers do not care about yuri. Hell, I bet that these people are actually actively hostile to yuri.

Sure, and the series has never been advertised as yuri. None of them have. Nijigasaki being as yuri as it was is something of a miracle in itself.

Just watch the show for what it is and enjoy the yuri doujins people make for it. Or drop the show, that's fine too.

I'm not specifically talking about /u/.
Everybody in jap twitter's also pretending as if this shit is not a horribly written mess and that it's as yuri as ever when it's clearly not.

Which is funny when I remember how people complained about Sunshine S1 being a bad muse clone when it was actually a vast improvement to the muse seasons.
And how the Niji anime focused too much on the characters as if that was a bad thing, and that it had the no plot when it actually had the most solid storytelling of the entire franchise.
Especially compared to Superstar.
Like, look at it. Where's the fucking plot?
We're nine episodes in and there's still fucking nothing.
No plot, no character development, no yuri. No nothing.

Instead, people are praising it as a return to form because the fucking hack muse director is in charge again.
Yeah, it's a return to form alright. A return to a shit anime from 2013 when it's currently 2021.

>Sure, and the series has never been advertised as yuri. None of them have.
Yes, but the Niji director/writers (and Sunshine's too, at least in S1) clearly do care about and cater to the yuri fandom.

The Superstar (and OG) director/writers see us as suckers who'll latch onto anything when there are two random girls.
So they don't even try this time. They don't need to. Instead they make fun of us for hoping that these girls are gay.
And they're probably right. We, as in the fandom as a whole, are suckers.
Just look at us going crazy at an absolutely meaningless 3-second shot. I don't think they even intended that shot to be bait but we ate it anyway, like starved alleycats.

Even if I am not completely a yurifag. One of the things that makes the franchise enjoyable is the interaction of the characters and how some can even be developed.
Each generation that passed improved this aspect and this gene had a lot of potential since it would be the first with a reduced cast which would make developing these relationships / friendships easier and each girl would get more focus.
The anime started and it seemed that it would be like that, the first chapters were very strong in the emotional / personal aspect without leaving aside SoL moments / comedy, even the song of EP3 was genuinely incredible, but after that this aspect was terribly neglected, in the Later episodes on EP6 barely focused on Kanon and Chisato's friendship. The rest of the episodes, although normally they have a very enjoyable comedy, they have neglected the personal aspect a lot. Ren's drama had so much potential, but they tried to rush everything about her mother in 1 episode.
I really love Liella, but the anime is about to end and they have neglected the personal aspect so much that it surprises me too much. Where are the moments like Ruby and Hanamaru supporting each other to overcome their fears and try to move on. Niji's girls helping Rina, OG's first-year girls helping Hanayo, Aqours' third-year girls could solve by themselves a misunderstanding that almost broke their friendship for so long and so many things that Sunshine, Niji and even OG knew. how to do it well.
>>
Can u see? Even now being 5 girls, Kanon and specifically Chisato feel very distant from Sumire. Keke and Chisato only share the relationship of being Kanon simps. Ren may not have had enough time to interact with other boys, but she could have made friends even before joining the club, as she usually did (they tried to make her friends with Chisato but it seems they left the idea very fast). And the relationship between Sumire and Keke is so strange that I have no idea what they are trying to do with it, because of the little focus they have given Sumire it seems that they actually hate each other. Many people want to see an episode focused on them, but really a single episode would change almost an entire season having such a "toxic" relationship? Because let's be honest, their relationship is a comic relief and that's why that dynamic will never change, it will always be a joke.

I think Sumire is the worst character ever because she has no friends. Nobody else in the club likes her, she has no bonds with anyone. People latch on to SumiKeke because Keke is the only one who interacts with Sumire, and only to tell her to shut up.
Maybe next season they'll try to push SumiRen for some kind of YoshiDia 2.0.

I think that a lot of the problem stems on the "comedy".
In my opinion, it's just not funny.
It's mean-spirited. It's loud. It's lol randumb. It's lame.

I know that the every anime installment except Niji relies on this type of "comedy", but I think that it's especially bad in Superstar (because it has nothing else going for it).
It makes them feel as if they're just shallow cartoon characters whose only purpose in life is to be punchlines to unfunny jokes. They don't feel like real people who have hopes and dreams.
I'm not just talking about Sumire by the way. This applies to all five of them.

This is why I prefer Niji's brand of comedy. It's subtler, smarter, not obnoxiously loud, and treats everybody like real people who only sometimes have funny stuff happening to them.
Even Kasumi, the Sumire of the group, was never unfairly treated by the others.
When stuff does happen to her, she's mostly just a victim of circumstance. And even then it only happens once or twice an episode, not in every single scene that she's in.

I think that out of all the gremlins, she's the only one who's genuinely loved by the others.
It helps that she's not that annoying and that she genuinely cares about the other girls too. I can't say the same for Nico, Yoshiko, or Sumire.

>>3543849
>Yeah, it's a return to form alright. A return to a shit anime from 2013 when it's currently 2021.
it's the equivalent of people who want horror games to return to tank controls and bad graphics, not understanding that those were limitations of the time, not a feature.

>Everybody in jap twitter's also pretending as if this shit is not a horribly written mess and that it's as yuri as ever when it's clearly not.
That raises the problem that I saw coming and that I always mention, but people with their "canon doesn't matter" and "I just need fanart" always try to ignore.
For a couple to work, bases are needed, the interactions of the characters and the unique dynamics that only they have, that way couples can be raised without any problem, there is even a minimal but existing yuri (ChikaRiko, anyone?)

but in the end the fandom prefers cheap and effortless shit that they can "mold" into the way they want, even if the characters do not have meaningful interactions or do not directly interact.

That seems to be the case, less characterization much better, that's why yoshiriko didn't work and on the contrary hurt the characters in Sunshine S2 and NikoMaki basically didn't do anything for the characters.
>>
>>3544614

If that doesn't comfort you, the only drawings Liyuu has made about the SS anime were Keke and KuuKaa
>>
>>3544707
NicoMaki shipping wasn't based on looks, it was fueled by material we had before S1, like that one Valentine's Day PV.
>>
>>3544794
>like that one Valentine's Day PV.
if you take that PV, it is not a good example and it simply shows the problem, that PV only says "hey look, they are a thing" but it does not establish any real dynamics and if the anime had at least raised something instead of throwing fanservice in S2 I would not complain so much (let's be honest, in the end it is the anime that establishes a lot of things about the franchise)
>>
>>3544805
They always create ships in the previous media. Then they start pushing the most popular ones and take them to anime. That's why many shipments die without even appearing in the anime. The only exception to this is Liella because she had just a bit of previous media (anime came out pretty fast)
>>
>>3544794
>it was fueled by material we had before S1, like that one Valentine's Day PV.
And what were those material? Several seconds of the absolute bare minimum pandering just to test the waters?

Nobody, except those who were already (superficially) invested in that particular ship, would give a shit about that.

>>3544805
Yes. This anon gets it.

Character development, including shipping "material", needs to be established and written into the story itself. The barebones backstory and lazy ass pandering shit that we see in OG and Superstar mean nothing.
Most people coming into the anime/franchise know nothing about these characters and ships. The writers need to make the audience care.

The Sunshine team understood this and put it in practice with ChikaRiko and the third-years in S1, and in Ruby's story arc in S2.
The Nijigasaki team -really- understood this. Almost every episode was an implementation of this principle. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that I consider the Niji anime to be a masterpiece in terms of writing.

And, as horrible as YoshiRiko was, at least the Sunshine team realized that they need to introduce the dynamic before stuffing it into our faces.
That last minute YouRiko pandering should die in a fire though.

I originally assumed that the reason OG was very bad at this was simply because it was a product of its time.
But now, seeing how similarly bad Superstar is, I've come to the conclusion that the director really is this incompetent. Or that he just doesn't care about good writing.
I haven't even mentioned how haphazard and inconsistent OG and Superstar's storylines were/are, but that's a different problem.
>>
>>3545101
>And what were those material? Several seconds of the absolute bare minimum pandering just to test the waters?
Well yeah, I agree with you.

I'm just clarifying that the NicoMaki shipping wasn't based on the looks alone, but things like that PV (wrongly) gave the impression that they would be eventually paired in S1 of the show, so fans started making material of them.

Their individual characters at least were explored in the show (especially Nico) so fans had something to go with.

But we would have obviously preferred them to actually put the pairing in the show. Even the ship moments in S2 were just hints here and there.

Overall I agree that I much prefer Niji's style to OG LL and Superstar.
>>
>>
>>
>>3545224
if this is the anime, no way Rina would use her board like that
>>
>>3545187
I do believe that a sizable portion of the fandom really do think that stuff like those are enough for them, or maybe even prefer it to the more story-integrated approach.

I assume that those kinds of opinions are more common in the waifufag side of the fandom.

the real problem in the end is that it gives the staff the perfect excuse not to even try and let the fans do all the work for them.

my problem with NicoMaki is that they didn't do anything relevant to the couple, just random fanservice and a jealous scene in the movie (just to check how silly HonoTsuba is) and considering that Nico has 2 focus episodes in S2 (with Maki not being relevant to none of them), Maki basically received nothing beyond subtly turning away from Nico and believing in santa.
if they are a popular couple, give them at least something memorable, that they are remembered not only by a fandom without criteria and pure conformity (yoshiriko at least destroyed 5 characters and the credibility of the franchise)

>>3545101
>But now, seeing how similarly bad Superstar is, I've come to the conclusion that the director really is this incompetent.

I feel that way, the only reason KanoKeke is popular is because they were the focus of attention before the group started to form (like a bad version of Hibiki and Kanade from Suit precure) and there was no nothing relevant with them since then doesn't help. Honestly, no couple this season seems interesting to me (in my personal opinion)

I really think they did a very good job with the Kuka arc. Added to the hiatus by the Olympics, Kuukaa's popularity grew insanely. Its future is uncertain though. I wonder what the writers will do with it. Will they kill it or make it continue to exist in S2?
>>
>>3545101
desu, the reason why the Niji anime seems better in the relationship department is because it has SIFAS as a base to work from, despite its many flaws.
I am generally not a fan of the SIFAS versions of the Niji relationships, but thanks to their existence the anime writers basically only had to do cleanups and make suitable alterations to them instead of having to almost write them from scratch like with SuperStar.
For example YuPomu, the anime basically took AnaPomu and ironed out many issues to the relationship which were caused by the harem and self insert nature of the SIFAS(such as Anata seemingly not remembering much of their childhood due to the player not knowing it either).
AnaPomu walked so that YuPomu could run as the saying goes.
>>
I hope there comes a moment in the anime that allows for a variation of the 'decisive Tang strategic victory' joke.
>>
>>3545462
Actually that shows that they knew what they were doing, not only by having a base to follow, but by applying that base correctly to the anime, other franchises not only LL seem to have problems adapting a gacha (look what happened with the anime of granblue fantasy)

>>3545455
>Its future is uncertain though. I wonder what the writers will do with it. Will they kill it or make it continue to exist in S2?
that's the biggest problem, if they just ignore the couple, then basically nothing is being done.
>>

One factor might just be time. The first three episodes were pretty dedicated to KuuKaa, and because of the olympics and whatnot they've had more time to linger: Episode 3 came out on August 8, episode 6 came out almost an entire month later on September 5, so KuuKaa has a bit of a headstart.
Something like growth per week might be more interesting to look at. Maybe someone could make a graph of some kind. Though I don't think it really matters all that much, there isn't really anything to be gained from overanalyzing pixiv stats anyway.

Points to consider:

While having a base is a slight advantage, the real reason is that the Niji anime had a clear consistent vision and stuck to it from the start to the end.

Compare it to Superstar changing the character dynamics in virtually every episode. They have no vision. They're just flinging shit at the wall and see what sticks.
Having no base to work with is no excuse. On the contrary, they should've been able to plan it with more detail since they're not bound to an existing canon. But instead they made this inconsistent mess because they have no plan.

Also, there are so many wasted episodes where fuck all happened.
Nothing happened in episode 2.
Nothing happened in the first half of episode 3.
Episode 4 (Sumire's intro) could've been done in 10 minutes.
Episode 5 is a complete waste of time. Why a fucking beach episode when all of your characters are still sorely underdeveloped.
Episode 7 is also a complete waste of time. They could've easily merged the stupid election filler with episode 8.
Episode 9, again, is a complete waste of time. Deciding a group name should not take an entire episode.

They could've used all of that wasted screentime for in depth character exploration if they're competent, but they're not so they didn't.

Kanon would lose narrowly to Ren still, but this would make Ren still loyal to her promises to put the Music Course and Regular Course in equal stand
but when Keke realizes that their idol club room is somehow has archaic spelling, meaning that Yuigaoka has a school idol club before them, she decides that KuuKaaChiSu would come to Ren's house to ask her about that
NO POOP HAT
>Episode 8
Ren, discovering that KuuKaaChiSu following them would be stern to them at first obviously, but warms up when Kanon brought Hana's picture
Ren publicly allowed the Music Course students to wear Regular Course uniform
the five discovers Hana's stuffs in the idol club room, and Ren joins the club
>Episode 9
make Ren the one who discovers Liella's name

I partially disagree. SoL moments or "fillers" often improve the dynamics of characters or make their relationships strong, not all chapters have to be deep in character development. (Ep 2 or 4 for example).
The problem is that they miss even those moments. EP 9 was a great opportunity to do their first thing together and improve their bond but in the end Kanon did everything and the other girls just pushed her instead of helping. Something similar happened in EP 7-8 (Ren arc).

>Episode 5 is a complete waste of time. Why a fucking beach episode
EP5 is the complete opposite of what I said. As you say, it was a complete waste of time, nothing happened, it's supposed to show us Keke and Sumire's friendship but it literally appeared out of nowhere, it didn't have any build up (feels like crackship pandering, honestly). The worst part is that it is supposed to be part of the Chisato arc but she only appears for about 5 minutes, in fact that they have traveled so far away makes it less credible that Kanon has paid 2 times a very expensive ship ticket to see to Chisato. It could just happen at school and Kanon would just have had to run or something like that, the beach was completely irrelevant except for the theme of the song and SunnyPa actually did nothing in this EP

It's a bit funny how they were a bit Meta with the lack of identity of the group (the only thing I can think of is that none of them looks like a loli and that is the only difference with the other series)

Although I prefer not to make so many assumptions until the anime ends. I'm pretty sure that the dynamics of those 3 would end up being something similar in second season, basically an Aqours-2nd-year again.(Basically the same thing as Aqours, 2 ships are becoming very popular and in order to "not generate conflicts" we are going to put them together in one)

In my opinion, SoL moments are better utilized when they serve as the backdrop of a more meaningful story. An episode with just SoL moments isn't really memorable.

For example, people remember Sunshine S1 episode 10 as the episode where Riko was troubled over choosing her piano recital over Love Live but Chika gave her the push to follow her own feelings.
People don't remember it as the one where the girls train and work at a beach hut restaurant. Maybe some people do, but I bet they remember it because of the former more meaningful storyline.

Nijigasaki episode 5 is the episode where Emma convinces Karin to join the club, not the one where the girls attempt to shoot PVs.
Episode 10 is the episode where Yuu comes up with the idea of the festival while Ayumu's fear of the two of them drifting apart intensifies, not the one where the girls train at school.

Episode 2 of Superstar is the one where they train I guess?
Episode 5 is the dumb beach episode.
Episode 7 is the dumb election episode and the one where they run around in Ren's house.
Episode 9 is the one where they do dumb stuff and they came up with their group name.

Those storylines (if you can even all them that) can't carry an episode by themselves. I actually had to look up episode 2 was about because I completely forgot.

---

>in fact that they have traveled so far away makes it less credible that Kanon has paid 2 times a very expensive ship ticket to see to Chisato.
Yeah, they really didn't think that through.
If you think about it for more than a second, it's actually a plot hole since it was established that going to the island takes at least half a day even by ship. It's physically impossible for her to travel that fast.

Also, how they explained away Ren changing her uniform is just incredibly lazy.
And also how Kanon just came up with the perfect group name.
It's mind-boggling how lazy, and to be frank, dumb, this season's writing is. Why aren't more people mad about this?

It would have been great if the director decided to keep KuuKa and developed it more instead of switching to SumiKeke in episode 4. But too bad it's too late, the damage is already done. Not even KuuKa can save it at this stage.

I honestly think people keep saying this because KuuKa was the focus of the first three episodes which made up the strongest arc Superstar's had so far. The first episode was legitimately great and Kanon getting over her fear of singing with Keke was a novel internal conflict for Love Live. People also loved Tiny Stars (though I can't say the same since it sounds too much like a slow version of a Katy Perry song to me), and people are tying all of these good things to KuuKa which ultimately didn't have the "tension" that yuri subtext pairings usually do. Even super fluffy pairings like RinPana had moments where they blushed at each other resulting in some tension there, but Kanon only treated Keke as a friend and while Keke was obsessed with Kanon she somehow didn't have any monents where her obsession could be construed as more romantic than let's say her obsession with SunnyPa.
>>
Tell me about Rina. Why does she wear the mask?

It's the double tsundere dynamic. i.e. NicoMaki, YoshiMaru, YoshiRiko.

I have no idea why it's popular, but it is.
>>
>>3546744
>though I can't say the same since it sounds too much like a slow version of a Katy Perry song to me
2 bars of audio sampling in a chorus isn't count as plagiarism unless it's a whole verse
>>
>>3546779
NicoMaki was a accident, they were shipped thanks to that PV not because their personalities were different.
YoshiMari were childhood friends and was a more "natural" ship, just like Kaoruko and Futaba from Revue Starlight with their "old married couple" dinamic.
As for spoiler, yeah that was a forced ship that had a very weak basis for a ship, but even they had some scenes when they acted as actual friends.
>>
>>3546793
>YoshiMari were childhood friends
Were they really? I thought that they were barely friends in kindergarten and didn't keep in touch until high school.
>>
>>3546807
Their dinamic was the one of old friends, Hanamaru certainly knew enough of Yoshiko to bant with her without being rude, not like Keke that just bullies Sumire every time they talk on-screen
>>
>>3546744
>and while Keke was obsessed with Kanon
Speaking of that, I think that Keke's "obsession" with Kanon definitely felt stronger in episode 1.
In the episodes after, it was either substantially watered down or just forgotten entirely.
>>
>>3546811
In addition, Hanamaru had many moments being nice to Yoshiko and many times it was to control her autism. Nico and Maki didn't discuss every episode and they weren't nearly as "aggressive". I think Keke has not been nice to Sumire only once in the whole season, even if they dedicate an entire chapter to that I do not think he will compensate for this (even if it did happen, possibly everything would be the same in the next chapter)

>>3546744
Many anon just can't forget the first few chapters (it's very understandable). I don't know if the majority think like that or if it is just a strong minority.
> I think that Keke's "obsession" with Kanon definitely felt stronger
SuperStar relationships are very rare, Keke proved to be a Kanon enthusiast on the first EPs and EP7 but few times after that, like Kanon and Chisato, they feel very close on EP 6 and 9, but after that it goes down in intensity (at least not as low as Kanon and Keke). Although many consider it crackship, the only one who has been "constant" was Sumire with Keke, although they have only been jokes and it seems to me that many do not like it very much.
>>
>>3546811
>not like Keke that just bullies Sumire every time they talk on-screen
I wouldn't put that solely on Keke. Sumire treats her hobby with contempt all the time too, and she's made it clear she joined their group just to get famous. I don't see any reason for Keke to put that aside and become her friend.
>>
>>3545595
the new Episode 4 ending would at least make Sumire more acceptable to Keke
but i guess this is entirely made by that KuuKaafag on /a/, right?

Now that you mention it their relationship really stagnated at the end of episode 4. Sumire didn't really learn to respect school idols but she did some nice thigs to Keke like fixing her dishes on the firts and last scene that they act like a old married couple, I guess the scene works for itself but that's it, we don't have more nice things after that, or at least I don't remember more scenes like that.

>I have no idea why it's popular, but it is.

I understand a little why this dynamic is popular, the problem here is that none of these couples works that way, one is of 2 characters that are not compatible but "they" insist on putting them together and see what happens, the other is friends with childhood and the last one is just a bad parody of Boke and Tsukkomi that is not funny (in the movie it is more evident how bad it is)

in contrast, in Suite precure you have a true double tsundere dynamic and to the point of being second in a couples poll (one that had 6 yuri and 4 het couples) when that magazine still had some credibility.

Yu&Ayumu being the only ones paired together in the Season 2 Key Visual has completely removed any worries I had about them potentially being ChikaRiko'ed
Now I can just worry about a different type of clusterfuck, which is how the hell they're going to fit 13 characters into one cour.
>>
>>3547761
since only three really need dedicated feature episodes at this point, maybe the original 10 can have focus episodes in 2s/3s at a time while developing whatever plot happens
>>
Oh yeah there was a Superstar episode.
Spoilers for people who still care I guess.

They kinda attempted to address the problem of Sumire being the outcast of the group, but they did it while skirting around the fact that the others (especially Keke and Chisato) were outcasting her, and also completely ignoring the core problem of Sumire being an annoying person to be around with in the first place.

And now, since they technically "solved" this problem, they will never address this problem again. Sumire will continue to be the annoying one and the butt monkey of the group.
She and the others will never learn their lesson.

And as usual, there's no yuri to be found.

It wasn't as bad of an episode as usual, but it's still a bad episode.
>>
>>3547767
Honestly I couldn't understand the whole episode because my Japanese is not that good, but there was something that made me very happy: For the first time in the whole season it is not Kanon who solves the problem and instead it is other girls who get the spotlight . Seriously, how hard was it for them to do things like that all season?
Anyway, I think it was a good episode. Even if I am a Kuukaafag
>>3547767
>And now, since they technically "solved" this problem, they will never address this problem again. Sumire will continue to be the annoying one and the butt monkey of the group.

Normally I would tell you that waiting to see what happens in the next episodes would be the best, but let's be honest, comic relief characters don't usually have those kinds of changes, and considering how unstable the relationships / characters have been throughout the season, In addition to the fact that in a possible second season it is very likely that relationships will begin to be based on which has proven to be the most popular, it is very difficult to guess if these types of changes will be permanent or not.

>For the first time in the whole season it is not Kanon who solves the problem and instead it is other girls who get the spotlight .
Yeah that's a good point of the episode too.

But still, I'm still at a loss with the sheer lack of direction that this season has.
It's like they have absolutely no idea what to do with these characters, and also they're too chicken shit to choose a direction on their own.
As a result, even after 10 episodes we still have no idea who the fuck these characters are and why we should care about them.
They have no theme. No message to convey. No story to tell.

It's upsetting to me that SIFAS S2 still gets shit on to this day for going on a direction that some (very loud) people didn't like, while Superstar gets away relatively scot free by not having a direction in the first place.
And fuck, at least SIFAS S2 has yuri.
>>
>>3547766
The thing is, since Niji are solo idols, everyone will need a new song to promote the next album/live.
>>
>>3547805
They can always fit more than one song an episode.
Maybe even make the songs relate to each other if they're paired. That would be gay.

In my opinion though, best case scenario would be a 2-cour season.
The two anime this year that I think are genuinely good (Blue Reflection, Aquatope) are both 2-cour anime. Having those extra episodes really help pacing-wise.

>Chapter 4
The Final Trial and The Aquamirror's Call

>Merchant: Hoy there, traveling missus! Would you fine ladies care to peruse through my wares for something to accompany you on your journey?

On their way to the water spirit, the pair of heroes was met with a roadside emporium of knick knacks sprawled out to as far as the eye could see. Commandeering the ragtag bazaar was the young merchant girl who beckoned out to Kasumi and Setsuna.

>Merchant: Yaa... It's hard to earn a decent coin when the world is in this state. And I still have my dear ol' sisters back home to look after. I'd really appreciate it if the two of you could take some merchandise off my hand.

>Setsuna: Oh that must be terrible! To be given such a burden when you're still so young.

>Kasumi: *Psst* Be on your guard, Setsuna-tono! When the world is in chaos, swindlers and charlatans will show up left and right to milk you any opportunity they can ge- wuh wait, you're actually going to buy something?!

The cautious Shinobi whispering in Setsuna's ear stood flabbergasted as her companion frivolously took out a handful of gold from her leather pouch in exchange for the translucent raiment in front of her.

>Setsuna: As a knight I cannot afford to overlook anyone in distress!

>Merchant: Ehh? Y-You w-were a knight?!

>Setsuna: Yes, that's right! The captain of the 1st corp in fact. Hey... wait a second, I feel like I've seen you from somewhere before... Aah! You! You were the merchant at Daiba capital who stole the Sun Goddess's finger, weren't you? ...There! There it is right there!

As soon as Setsuna pointed out the detached artifact within the sea of goods, the once jovial saleswoman's face turned deathly pale. Having caught the crook red handed and proven right in the process, Kasumi struck her signature one eyed pose.

>Kasumi: So you were trying to pawn off your stolen goods, huh?
>>
>>3547873
>Merchant: A-Ahaha, oh sard, what are the chances... I-I'm so sorry! I'll give you your money back and throw in that [Raiment of Invisibility] too so please forgive meeeeee!

In the blink of an eye, the diminutive bandit packed up all her pilfered products and was gone from the scene before Kasumi could even react.

>Kasumi: Moou- She's quite quick on her feet when escaping isn't she.

>Setsuna: Uuu- I sure do hope that her sisters will be ok

Kasumi hung her shoulders in disbelief as the gullible knight pensively stared in the direction of the fleeing merchant

>Kasumi: Setsuna-tono... and I sure do hope that you'll grow to be more wary of strangers from now on or else you'll be scammed in no time. Well, now that the great Kasumin's here though, you can rest assure that no quack or rip-off will be pulling the wool over you!

>Setsuna: Hmmm would it really be fine for me to just take this cloak?

The disappointed Shinobi sunk her shoulders deeper

>Kasumi: THAT'S what you're worrying about?! Who cares? Anything sold by that shady dealer is probably just some bogus rinky dink rubbish anyway~

Having acquired the suspicious item, the two continued onto their destination until they finally reached a limestone cave where its brilliant sapphire veins spiraled out like stars in the Milky Way. And in the center of that spiral, under the aquamarine waves, was a grand palace of coral and serpentine fit for Otohime herself

>Setsuna: It would seem like this is the Water Spirit's residence...
>>
>>3547875
Although the interior of the monument was hospitable enough for surface dwellers to breath freely, its architecture was like that of a labyrinth. In addition to its flummoxing structure, the palace's framework was aligned with complexed machinations that appear to have been built by an advanced civilization long gone. Without careful navigation one could easily find themselves stuck in a dead end and be forced to wander the shifting halls forever. After traversing through the maze for what felt like an eternity, the duo finally reached what appeared to be the innermost chamber. As soon as they stepped in however, the entrance behind them crashed down with a thunderous roar. Upon realizing that their only method of exiting was stymied off, Kasumi frantically bounded around the sealed chamber in search for a route outside

>Kasumi: Waa! We've been trapped in!

>Setsuna: Ah- But look! Something's written here on the wall. It says "The key is within the configuration"... Oh, they must mean that box over there

Warily making her way towards the objective, Setsuna picked up the small box, but even with all her strength, it could not be forced open

>Setsuna: How strange, there's a small aperture near the lid, but it could only be slid slightly

>Kasumi: Ah! Kasumin knows exactly that is! It has to be a karakuri box! It won't open unless you follow a specific series of steps

>Setsuna: Hmmm that seems to be rather difficult

>Kasumi: Fufufu- Not to worry Setsuna-tono, as the Hokage of the Hidden Nakasu Village, solving a puzzle like this is a piece of cake for the great Kasumin

With a pompous pat on her chest the confident Shinobi got to work immediately and after a lengthy period of astute analysis she was-

>Kasumi: Waah~ I can't get it open~

Utterly defeated. The dejected Shinobi kneeled before the locked casket
>>
>>3547876
>Setsuna: Ah! Kasumin-san! What if we use the [Raiment of Invisibility] to make a part of the box transparent so we can get a better look at the inner mechanisms? Surely that'll make it easier to solve the puzzle

>Kasumi: Huh? With that phony thing? Uhhh how about this... And also Setsuna-tono, I think you need to re-evaluate your understanding of transparency and invisibility. Hmm what if I move this piece first...

The stubborn Shinobi was once again entranced with cracking the configuration, totally ignoring Setsuna's suggestions. Seeing as how Kasumi still doubts the legitimacy of the item, Setsuna knew that there was only one way of convincing her. And so with a single motion, she flung the cloak over herself, disappearing in the instant it draped upon her body

>Kasumi: H-Huh? Setsuna-tono? Did you use that cape?! Wow I really can't see you at all

>Setsuna: kasumin-san-!

Following the tiny voice down to her feet, Kasumi was met with the sight of her traveling companion, now reduced to a size where she would be petite enough to fit inside Kasumi's dainty mouth

>Kasumi: EEHH!? How did you get so small!?

>Setsuna: Uun- it seems like the [Raiment of Invisibility] makes its user 'invisible' by shrinking them down to a size where they'll be 'invisible' to the naked eye

>Kasumi: No way! Is there anyway to revert the process!?

>Setsuna: I tried pulling the cloak over myself again, but it looks like it's a one way function...

>Kasumi: Eh!? Ah, but surely with the water spirit's power, she'll be able to enlarge you back... Uuu, but until we open this box, we won't be able to leave...!

>Setsuna: Hey, I've got a great idea!

The miniature knight hopped down from Kasumi's hand and into the narrow gap that parted the lid. Once she had regained her bearings, Setsuna found herself surrounded on all sides by sophisticated gears and machinery that even the most skilled mechanics in the kingdom would struggle to replicate. Upon closer inspection however, the OOPArt procession of instruments appears to be nothing more than garish accouterments. In fact the solution to the box was unexpectedly rudimentary as the gimmick only involves the moving of the partition at a certain angle that would seem impossible when only observing the exterior. With this knowledge in hand, Setsuna instructed Kasumi on which directions to slide and in a jiffy the assemblage was undone

>Kasumi: Wah, it's finally open...!

Within the intricate contraption was an exquisite piece of pure sapphire fashioned into the shape of a starfish. Using their hard earned reward, the girls inserted it into the shallow depression of the same pattern that was etched into the wall opposite to the entrance. With a steady rumbling, the nondescript façade sunk to the floor and revealed a passageway to an even deeper chamber

>Water Spirit: You have done well in overcoming the various trials and tribulations to reach me, fine adventurers

Lounging on the gapping mouth of a giant oyster as if it were a personal throne was the water spirit herself. Among the three spirits, nay, among all the women in the land, none would possess such peerless beauty as the enchantress before them. With impeccable locks that would put the finest silk to shame and a succulent body accentuate by provocatively thin vestments, her siren like grace could captivate even the most abstinent

>Water Spirit: I've heard much of your exploits from the other two primordials. As you can you tell, my trial was for you to undauntedly make yourselves through my labyrinthian abode and reach this inner chamber. Your presence here now attests to your triumph

While the duo were overjoyed at their success, the matter of mini Setsuna still had to be addressed, so as planned they pleaded for the Water Spirit's aid

>Water Spirit: Indeed transmogrification is but a trifling matter. While your flesh, necklace, and sacred weapon will have no qualms withstanding the process; Your garments however, will be flayed asunder during the augmentation. As restitution, you may pick out a new attire from my collection

With a wave of her hand over the grand basin before her throne, various dresses, armor, breastplates, and the like were reflected upon the water's surface. Instantly hooked by the futuristic phenomenon, Kasumi quickly began to sift through the menagerie of colorful outfits

>Kasumi: Wahh this one is sooo cute. You'll look good in this one for sure, Setsuna-tono!

As soon as Kasumi made her choice, the Water Spirit held Setsuna's puny body in her hands. Soapy bubbles then began to emanated out of thin air and swallowed Setsuna whole. Once her entire form was submerged by the foamy mass, as swiftly as they had converged, all the bubbles popped to reveal the knight in her proper size and donning her new regalia. Compared to the old knight uniform, the costume that she now sported was airier than she was used to. Not only were her four limbs laid bare without any protection, but her bellybutton too was exposed for the world to see. Nevertheless, it was a gorgeous outfit that exuded an aura of boldness
>>
>>3547879
>Water Spirit: You may keep that armor as your prize for clearing my trial. Yes, it was an astute choice indeed to choose such a legendary vestment

>Kasumi: Ehh? That's a legendary armor?! Wait, I didn't know that we picking out a legendary armor?!

>Water Spirit: Oh? Did I not tell you? ...Well it matters not. As a precaution I would have blessed any outfit you chose with my protection

>Kasumi: What do you mean just in case?! Uwaa I'm so sorry, Setsuna-tono. If I had knew I would have chosen a much more sturdy looking armor instead...

>Setsuna: No, no! This is more than fine! Yes, this is none other than the legendary armor spoken of in the most esoteric of heroic epics. The [Immaculate Maiden's Armor]! I never thought the day would come where I would be wearing this mythical relic myself!

>Kasumi: Are you seriously sure that something as flimsy as that is fine?!

While Kasumi still hung her head in regret, Setsuna's eyes sparkled with a childlike excitement as she marveled at the costume. The Water Spirit sat and smiled at the twos rowdy display when suddenly the basin violently undulated and the projection of dresses abruptly cut to a live feed of a dark room

>Setsuna: Ah...?

>Kasumi: Hey isn't that the Princess Miko!?

Within the morose cell was the figure of Setsuna's dear friend. Alone and destitute, tears streamed down from Ayumu's face as she bawled into her hands

>Ayumu: Oh what should I do? Everyone is suffering now because of me... Setsuna-chan, she must be on her way to rescue me now. But how? In a place like this? No, she mustn't come! It's far too dangerous for anyone! Please...Please don't come here...!

And with that, the waters once again stabilized and Ayumu's form was gone
>>
>>3547880
>Kasumi: What do you mean by too dangerous? And where is here!?

As Kasumi rolled on the ground panicking, Setsuna felt every fiber in her body crying out for one thing and one thing only. The image of her princess crying in distress brought back the memories from that day. From the day where they were parted by a cruel fate and the promise that she was unable to fulfill. Yes, now more than ever, Setsuna wanted nothing more than to save her dear Ayumu. At that moment of determination, her weapon, armor, and necklace blazed with an immense radiance and a prophetic vision flooded her mind. A black castle. By pure instinct she knew, that this was the dragon's lair

>Kasumi: S-Setsuna-tono? Are you alright!?

>Setsuna: Yes... I know where I must go now

>Water Spirit: I wish you the best of luck

With a final exchange of pleasantries, the pair left the Water Spirit's domain and began their journey to their final destination

>Kasumi: So where is this dragon supposed to be? There's nothing out here, Setsuna-tono

>Setsuna: Hmm that's strange, I was sure it was around here somewhere...

Having arrived at the location prescribed by Setsuna's Delphian vision, the two scanned through the area, but all they could see was the great expanse of wilderness

>Kasumi: Did you mistake that place for somewhere similar?

While her companion was correct at the barrenness of the land, as soon as Setsuna lifted her head to the sky, she knew that this was indeed the stage for the fated confrontation
>>
>>3547881
>Setsuna: No, Kasumin-san, we've come to the right place. Look-

Kasumi followed the direction of Setsuna's finger and came to the same realization

>Kasumi: Ah! That island- Is floating!?

There, above the clouds was the levitating land mass that carried the dragon's fortress. But how were the two of them supposed to cross such a great distance? No... It was possible. With the help of that girl- that girl who had traveled with Setsuna in the past. With her aid, they would surely be able to reach Ayumu

Fuck this episode was very good, it feels like some of the good developmental episodes that the other gens had. But there is something that bothers me a little. If they really wanted to push SumiKeKe that way, why did they keep pushing with KanonKuu or even why KanonKuu existed?
Maybe there aren't a majority , but seeing so many disappointed guys in / a / makes me a bit sad
>>
>>3548020

perhaps it would not be too bad considering only Ai and Emma whose characters didn't get to developed in S1 since Ai serves as the mirror for Rina and Emma's episode buffed Karin hard
so beyond the usual 3 new character episodes and 2 episodes to develop Ai and Emma, perhaps they would finally introduce the subunits concept, which means 4 new episode + songs
also counting the obligatory Ayumu-centric episode and song, we only has 1 spot for another song and 3 blank episodes
>>
>>3548020
It's too little too late at this point.

Also I felt that the episode was disingenuous, considering how Keke never realized that she was the one who kept treating Sumire as if she was the most incompetent member of the group. Not just in the previous episodes, but even in the first half of this episode itself.
And then it was reframed so that everyone, even people outside of the group, thought of Sumire like that but Keke was the one who trusted her from the start.

It was messy. I don't know what's the message of this episode. I don't know what's the message of the entire show itself actually.

>If they really wanted to push SumiKeKe that way, why did they keep pushing with KanonKuu or even why KanonKuu existed?
No planning.
>>
>>
>>
It's weird but I fell the girls of Superstar as a less cartoonish version of the OG girls after EP 10. Kanon is the most obvious example because she isn't just another genki girl, Keke is a much better Kotori, Sumire is, hot take, a better Nico, only Ren is a worst version of a OG girl, in this case Eli, because she doesn't add anything to the group (I even forgot what Keke said was her forte inside the group), only Chisato feels original to me.
>>3548130
Not that anon but I noticed that they just decompressed the presentation of the girls from one to two episodes, that's why you feel that there is too much filler and that's why they abused the SumiKeke jokes, just to fill time.
>>
>>3548163
I find it easier to relate them to the Aqours girls actually.

Kanon = Riko but the leader
Keke = kinda Chika/Honoka but not the leader + Hanamaru quirks and role as Sumire's handler + funny foreigner archetype
Chisato = less annoying, but more boring You
Ren = Dia without the ham. She's just Eli I guess but somehow even more boring.
Sumire = literally just Yoshiko. Just switch Yoshiko's chuuni with her "showbusiness" thing and they're the exact same character.

I think that Keke's the most original one, but that's because she's an amalgamation of many archetypes.
Chisato's one of the more derivative ones actually imo.

In many ways they're kind of a midway between Aqours and Muse in my opinion.

In the memey < realism scale:
Aqours < Liella < Muse <<< Niji

In terms of character development:
Muse < Liella << Aqours << Niji

In terms of yuri substance:
Muse < Liella <<< Aqours < Niji
>>
maybe it's time to stop hating Sumire and start hating the OG director for screwing everything post-episode 4
they can make Sumire and Keke's drama more palatable if she isn't a bitch from the start
and what's that with Keke being suddenly a bitch towards Sumire so that we got that drama on the first place
it's Episode 10 already, if this is was episode 6-7 i would jumped off the train since

I don't think that Sumire's even the biggest problem to be honest.

The lack of direction/consistency are Superstar's biggest problems.
They have been problems since as early as episode 2 actually.
Every episode feels like they were written and directed by a different person, even though they were all written and directed by the same main writer-director pair.

Also the lack of yuri, but that's a /u/-specific complaint.

It's interesting to see how a few subtle changes can completely change a character. Considering how angular the Anigasaki designs are, it's surprising to see the spherical adjustments to Mia's and Lanzhu's designs. I'm already seeing fan artists switching to the anime designs for Mia, Lanzhu, and Shioriko. Lanzhu's new design seems to be a hit. So, naturally, /llsifg/ is maldening over it

>>
>>3548377
Mia is definitely an improvement but Lanzhu and Shiroriko look better in the non anime style so far. But with Anigasaki in particular, the designs are better suited for animation and matching the CG so I'm not too worried about the designs overall. In particular the Nijis looked great mixed into CG whereas Liella looks awkward switching from 2D to CG, probably due to Superstar sticking closer to the OG artstyle.

Im@s has good yuri ships but the anime gets bogged down by some terrible het shipping with the producer in the original series. Cinderella Girls has a less intrusive producer but that series is way messier. The best of im@s is not in the anime format, so you're not missing out anything god-tier.

ty again, anon. Well, updated chart. The growth of KanoKuu has been very low this week, I think it has been the lowest growth has had,

KanoChii maintaining the growth rate of last week (possibly because of Ep9) and SumiKeke has gained strength after Ep10. Possibly next week the growth will be more noticeable as many artists will upload their fanarts to pixiv.
Cya in the next ranking!
>>
>>3549210
As this rate KanoChi and SumiKeke might surpass KanoKu after the final episode or after a few months.
>>
>>3549222
Yep, if they don't feed KanonKuu in these last 2 weeks, at least KanonChii will surpass it in 3 or 4 weeks

Personally, I still have some interest in KanoKuu. If the fandom theories are correct and the last episodes are focused on their drama, maybe something good could come out of there. Something like "you saved my dream, now I will save yours" would be quite cute.
>>
>>3549527
I don't think she was that interesting even at the start.
There was some semblance of depth at first, yeah. Like a seed for further character development.
But before she was properly fleshed out, it was overwritten by her now being just an unpleasant bitch for what they think is "comedy".
She's a lot like Riko if you think about it.

>>3549535
Why do you like them enough to read and even write fan material of them yourself?
What's their appeal?
I myself remember thinking that I might like them at first.
But now 10 episodes in, I've completely forgotten why.
>>
>>3549573
unless Kanon kissed Keke and protected her from Keke's big sister, i didn't care much
>>

>I don't think she was that interesting even at the start.
>There was some semblance of depth at first, yeah. Like a seed for further character development.
>But before she was properly fleshed out, it was overwritten by her now being just an unpleasant bitch for what they think is "comedy".
that's exactly what i have said
Sunrise wrecks Keke's character to make Sumire looks good and i'll never forgive them for that
>fanfics
>>3545595 is a good start, also Sumire needs to apologize to KuuKaa immediately after dancing Tiny Stars in the front of that shop
therefore there would be no need to make Keke a mean bitch and only kept it down on the "idol defender" level
.....
by the way, did Keke called Kanon without the "-san" after episode 4? 5-10 are so forgettable, darn it!
>>
>>3549647
You have too much faith on this director.

Remember that this is from the same guy who gave us end-of-season hits such as "Honoka being an absolute retard" and "Kotori suddenly has to go away drama".
>>
>>3549667
>Keke called Kanon without the "-san" after episode 4

Surprisingly, she did actually. I think that's the only thing that the writers remember from the early episodes.
>>
>>3549655
>Why do you like them enough to read and even write fan material of them yourself?
Because I like what they are going with them at the beginning in episode 1 but Sunrise fucked up, they had the potential to be a great couple, if only the hack director included yuri in it and keep developing them. I just want to know what will happens if SS has actual yuri in it, that's why I am going to write my fic. To show how good SS could have been.
>But now 10 episodes in, I've completely forgotten why.
I don't blame you, the director is really trash.

>>
>>3549684
Those are nice suggestions but I dislike Ren's backstory and motivation, so that will be need to be remove or change. That drama is my least favorite part of the show.
>>
>>3549668
Honestly, I don't have it. But at this point I really think there are different teams doing the anime. EP1-3 / 10 feel so different from the rest and the difference in quality with the rest of the episodes is too big (also I don't think that the same people who wrote OG could have written episodes like 3 or 10). Even if you consider that they seem to have forgotten those episodes existed, it would make more sense. So I have a little hope in these last chapters
>>3549655
I've completely forgotten why.
First episodes were soo good and the long hiatus helped too. After that ,many chapters have been forgettable. Even the colorful and vibrant backgrounds have disappeared as the series progressed. What a shame
>>
>>3549706
i remember when LL YouTube channel released a trailer just for Superstar Episode 3
i know that's a "we're coming back from the Olympic hiatus" trailer, but everyone just goes wild that day because of an entirely different reason
and a few days after Episode 3 aired, they put a digest version for episode 1-3, something they never did for the later episodes
if they actually supports SumiKeke instead of KuuKaa, then it is a very dumb move to be honest
i just didn't understand what happened in Sunrise after that
>>
>>3549710
Yeah, they pushed KuuKa very hard (digest version, her own name, seiyuu fanservice, merch, etc). She had a lot of potential to be the main SS ship just like ChikaRiko or YuuPomu.
> if they actually supports SumiKeke instead of KuuKaa, then it is a very dumb move to be honest
It's dumb in many ways.
You generate a silly ship war again (Aqours shipwar still exists after all these years)
Many of your potential SumiKeke consumers now support Kuuka and will hardly switch sides.
Your original SumiKeke consumers will be dissatisfied for a long time (it took almost 2 months to get a real development).
The problem is that whatever solution they try to come up with will leave one side unsatisfied. If KuuKa gets focus in the later episodes, the SumiKekefags will feel betrayed (Ep10).
If KuuKa just dies, the Kuukafags will get mad that they were literally baited (which is complete bullshit) Sure, if this happens over time they will just switch to SumiKeke or KanoChii but this will take at least a few months of endless discussion
>>

>But at this point I really think there are different teams doing the anime.

Literally the same guy is writing every episode. Yeah I don't really believe it either.
He's the writer for Sunshine too though so I suspect that it's mostly the director's fault.
Or maybe some higher up producer's fault. I dunno.

I was bored so I gathered up the following info about the writing staff for each series from wikipedia.

京極尚彦 (Kyougoku Takahito): OG director, second episode writer for S2 ep 1, Superstar director
酒井和男 (Sakai Kazuo): Sunshine director
河村智之 (Kawamura Tomoyuki): Niji director

花田十輝 (Hanada Jukki): OG main writer, episode writer for all episodes, movie writer, Sunshine main writer, episode writer for all episodes, movie writer, Superstar main writer, episode writer for all episodes (as of ep 10)
子安秀明 (Koyasu Hideaki): OG second episode writer for S1 ep 10
田中仁 (Tanaka Jin): Niji main writer, episode writer for ep 1-4, 6, 9, 12-13
伊藤睦美 (Itou Mutsumi): Niji episode writer for ep 5, 10
平林佐和子 (Hirabayashi Sawako): Niji episode writer for ep 7, 11
大内珠帆 (Oouchi Mitsuho): Niji episode writer for ep 8

Note:
監督 = director
シリーズ構成 = series composition = main (series) writer
脚本 = storyboard = episode writer

I also noticed that the Niji episode writers for the 5 episodes which weren't handled by the main writer are all women. And they are the only women in this list.
I thought that was interesting,
