The ongoing joke that Menou emits lesbian pheromones that make every girl she meets becomes obsessed with her and she doesn't even really notice is great. Momo and Akari are both possessive yanderes who want her attention all to themselves and Sahara is a rival who hates her so much she kind of wants to fuck her. The only one who's immune so far is Ashuna

She'll come around. Menou was the only one so far that made Ashuna bleed so she'll probably propose marriage next time so they can fight between the bed sheets. It's always nice when authors throw away any pretense and fully embrace the yuri. I was kinda hoping that the final battle would end in Menoucest. Sahara using Menou's own body to kiss her would've been sweet.

Finished reading "Vtuberなんだが配信切り忘れたら伝説になってた." It's a soup of otaku references (Almost entirely non-yuri), sex jokes (mostly dick jokes), Japanese memes, Vtuber crap and yuri. Yes, the yuri is very real and in your face, the main character don't hide her lesbianism and even invites every single one of her coworkers into sleeping with her, sometimes several of them simultaneously. (Not real spoilers, but spoiling anyway) She's gayer than the ex-lesbian porn actress who is known for being a complete perv (She gives 50k as a tip to one of the girls when she's doing exercises and make moan-like sounds). There's also a bit of pairing hints and future yuri development foreshadowing by end, but most of it was just the main character being a pervert (Although there are a few scenes with her and the other girls in real life where it does get pretty gay, like them sleeping in the same futon). On a side note, the amount of dick jokes can be really prejudicial to the enjoyment of the very sensible sisters, so this may not be for everyone (There's a part that was almost unbearable...). However, most of the jokes are made by the main character herself and everyone around her criticizes her for that. Let's just hope that volume 2 and ahead tone down the very stupid moments and increase the few passages of very smart comedy plus cutesy. The yuri is already granted.

I cry for the sister who tried to MTL this...
>>
>>3615116
Is this a single issue or there is more announced, unless the jokes a real dick I don't see any reason to be upset by that.
>>
>>3615126
2 out, volume 3 announced. The jokes are the sort of "I'll pick the elephant because it's got a gigantic penis," "People say I have testicles in my brain" and "Are we going to do a futanari play?" all along the book. The commenters sometimes go pretty creepy as well, like the ones talking about masturbation in the beginning, again thanks to the main character who says "Every man should jerk off in front of the woman he loves to prove his value." If you can get past 15% into it, you're probably good to go.
>>
>>3615128
Sounds like a funny girl to me, I think some anons are too used to jap girls being too nice and educated.
>>
>>3615139
Hmm, I read other things of the kind where girls make dirty jokes and all, and I wouldn't say it disgusted me to the point where I wanted to quit, but I certainly didn't like it. In this case, to make it worse, they also talk about eroge (het) and most of the overall references and jokes (which are most of the content) are to non-yuri shows or random internet things that have absolutely nothing to do with yuri or lesbians. Can't say that the randomness didn't amuse me, I had a very good time in the very good parts, but I definitely can't say I enjoyed all the dick jokes, especially in a particular part where she just went crazy and started to make one after another for no reason. Even when the jokes get gay, it ends up with one or two comments about "poles" or "insertion," when it could just have been funny yuri-wise instead. Not saying I can't bear it, but these parts get so absurdly boring I can't keep myself reading, like the "Doukyuusei no Oshi Sakka" (manga) chapters about yaoi that were so boring and filled with text, I ended up quitting. I'm all in for pussy jokes though
>>
>>3615142
It's not that I don't understand the angle you are coming from, but this kinda feels like it would be a more common banter for girls, even gay girls don't really make only pussy jokes, everything you are telling me sounds interesting because is just girls talking shit.
>>
>>3615143
Yeah, but I'm kinda reading it for the yuri, so I'd just enjoy it much more if it were girls talking about yuri or just making sex jokes instead of all that. It's not that I don't understand that that is not the kind of work that this is, but my experience from it is that of dissatisfaction and I can't help it. I could just read any other kind of work where girls make random jokes and talk dirty, but if it's not yuri, my interest in it is zero or very close to it. As a yuri reader, I'd rather not have dick jokes.
>>
>>3615146
Which is also fine, actually what you just told me remembers a lot of the works of Kuroha, which last work was the yuri series Yuugai Shitei Doukiyuusei, which is full of sex jokes, the full spectrum, though it really is a yuri romance between two girls, which goes even explicit some times with kissing.

He is more know for the Chronicles of the Going Home club that is a mix between dumb humor with dirty humor, there is also some yuri subtext in that series, for some reason some of his other works that are actually yuri (not even just subtext, outright about a girl being in love with another girl and confessing) are not tagged with the girls' love tag.
>>
>>3615153
This is more like Furachi na Rinri-chan, which is about a girl who is gay and even in love with another girl, but most of her "lewdness" ends up involving penises, even having a scene where she ends up fantasizing (unwillingly) that the other girl has a penis and that she accepts her with or without it. There's plenty of potential in dirty jokes yuri, and authors are finally realizing that you can make funny sex jokes without 90% of them involving a penis. Not to say that this has no correlation with the fact that Japanese people simply ignore the existence of the vagina, so dick jokes are funny, but pussy jokes are highly deprecated.
>>
>>3615161
Yeah, Yuugai is less focused, though it does use a lot of het sex as jokes.

By the way, the third volume is coming out on the 20th, but I wonder if I can finish volume 2 by then. It started pretty well until the first dick joke at 3%. I need some time, so I'll probably just read something else for now.

I read the trial version of Watashi no Hatsukoi Aite and I'm intrigued, but the beginning is seriously quite dark (it starts with the depiction of an adult beating the shit out of a young girl whose identity is still unknown), while the part where the two main girls are introduced and start living together is super weird and awkward, but I can't wait to read the rest.

I'm reading it now since it's out, and basically short girl(whose name is Umi)'s mom has been whoring herself out for years to both men and even some women in exchange for a place for her and her daughter to stay. One day Umi gets fed up with the abusive owner of the place they were staying at and hits them, runs away from that place leaving her mom behind, and while she's reflecting on how much her life sucks she gets picked up by a super hot rich woman who appears to be few years older than her and she offers Umi money in exchange for a date(and her body). Umi thinks that if she accepts she's gonna follow her mother's path, but she ends up accepting anyway. So for the past few months until they move in to Sora(the other girl)'s house, it appears that Umi has been able to pay for house expenses by selling herself to that woman, therefore it's unclear if Umi's mother is still whoring herself to Sora's mother as well.

Has Iruma been lurking /u/ by the way? This is pretty much the "Tarumi is prostituting herself to older women" meme.
>>
Hatsukoi Aite is planned to be three volumes according to the afterword.
Basically it's set to be a love triangle where the main character has to find a way to NTR Umi from her sugar mommy turned girlfriend

>>

Maybe Iruma felt like he wanted to do more drama on Adashima but decided it wouldn't fit, so now he is going full yuri edgylord on his new series.

Also, I just realized that IRUMA is an anagram to tARUMI

I think this is the latest one, and seems interesting. MC has the job of "fugitive" whose only skill is being able to escape. The leader of her party apparently frames her for murder and she ends up on the run from the law alongside a girl known as the "Man-eating Demon"

The "stabbed in the back by adventurer party" trope is kind of stale at this point, but other than that seems promising.

So I just finished reading this. It's 100% pure yuri romance and also a bit lewd(no R18 stuff though, only lots of "fade to black sex" scenes), so if that's what you're worried about, you can read it with confidence.
The story however is full of angst and drama, so don't go in expecting AdaShima 2: electric boogaloo.
The blonde MC, Takasora (not Sora, it's specified later), falls in love with the short girl, Umi, who is however head over heels in love with her rich sugar mommy, Chiki (which is probably a false name).
The latter is the most mysterious because she's clearly hiding stuff behind her playful casanova facade, also spoiler warning strong implications that the person getting beaten in ch 1 was her. Ending spoiler: in the end Umi asks her to go out for real because she wants a proper relationship. Chiki initially puts up some resistance but after Umi completely exposes herself with an heartfelt confession she accepts. She however had already noticed Takasora(whom just a couple of hours before Umi talked about to Chiki) watching them from afar, and Chiki glances right into her direction a second before kissing Umi, so who knows what's gonna happen next.
Takasora also isn't exactly a saint, poor Umi believes that she has finally found a good friend who genuinely worries for her, while in fact she's lusting after her hard and the reason why she tried to stop her from seeing Chiki was just because she was jealous.

That said I really enjoyed it, can't wait for volume 2.
>>
>>3617766
>isn't exactly a saint
>she just doesn't want to be only friends
This is like saying "I'm a workaholic" as a flaw in your job interview.
>>
>>3617743
The context is completely different when it's lesbian prostitution. There is nothing vile or demeaning about women making a job out of giving other woman love. It's nothing like het prostitution which is filthy by default.
>>
A workaholic lesbian prostitute would be pretty great, as well as one that gets named Employee of the Month.
>>
So Iruma plans to make me suffer for another 2 volumes, huh? Delightful.
And to think that the bike girl who talks to Hino was a lesbian buying high school girls all along, huh? (Was that her? I feel like it was and it would make sense).
By the way, Umi's birthday was a day before the novel, so happy birthday and congratulations for getting your first girlfriend, Umi! Hopefully you'll get another one and make everyone happy, cause three is the magic number of this series.
I want to talk more about it but I still must wait for it to sink, cause this was... too much. Yeah, I can't wait for the second volume, damn Iruma.
>>
>>3617787
Well, she pretends to be concerned for a "friend" while in fact it's just for the selfish reason of not wanting said "friend" to see another girl, tells her that she's heard lots of rumors at school about her and that what she's doing is wrong and bad. Still, even after this Umi believes that she's a good girl who just wants to be a supportive friend with no ulterior motives.
Of course I think that she was just desperate and gay at the moment, and ended up saying hurtful things, but she's definitely not the selfless nice girl Umi thinks she is.
>>
>>3617738
Read the first 2 chapters of this. It's pretty good. If I stumbled on this back when I really fancied the idea of a galge reincarnation but yuri, I would've been crazy about it. Since it's a galge, there's a male protagonist in the story but it's implied that he's secretly a scumbag.

I recommend it if you like harems but wish the girls ditched the mc for each other.
>>
>>3617766
The fact that there is a sugar mommy LI has me looking on with saliva, so thanks for the summary. Iruma's writing has barred me from reading Sayaka so maybe it is time to challenge again. Horray for bijin rich oneesans
>>
>>3617766
I don't understand, who is the prostitute in all of this? If Chiki is her sugar mommy, it means the one who is prostituting is Umi? But she is the one asking to become a real couple?
Also previous spoilers talked about prostitution with men, was it one of the three main girls?
Do we have to fear het in the next volumes? That "hiding stuff / getting beaten" scares me.

I wasn't even thinking I had to ponder the purchase since it's Iruma but all these spoilers are making me reconsider.

He even goes back to make his past work gays nowadays, what happened with him...
>>
>>3617846
I wonder if Kana and Miyabi weren't gay from the start though, maybe it was all planned. The entire Clock series was always supposed to be the buildup of two horny dorks grabbing each other's boobs and kissing in front of Kana's teacher (also gay).

I'm telling you, Gayruma is living by his name.

Probably a combination of actually start looking at other yuri works (he barely knew about yuri at the start) and how Adashima is by far his most popular and well received work, no so many authors get an anime adaptation after all.
>>
>>3617895
He got it with Denpa onna before though.
>>
>>3617898
That just shows you how thinks really works, even though his last work had an anime adaptation, they publisher looked at yuru yuri popularity and and suggested Iruma would try going for something similar, which he didn't, but still.
>>
>>3617732
>"This story has a GL tag, but there are men in it, and there is some NL. If you don't like it, please go back or proceed with caution."
Is the author referring to MC with that, anon?
>>
>>3617833
Sudden het is the one thing you don't have to fear in Iruma's yuri works. As for the getting beaten part Chiki lives in a household which is apparently very powerful, it looks like they even regularly visit the Hino residence. She mentions that if her family realized what she's doing this is the sort of punishment that would await her, so it's likely that the beating happened for a similar reason in the past.
>>3617846
Fun fact: his very first work (Usotsuki Mii-kun to Kowareta Maa-chan) was supposed to have a female MC instead of a male one, but the editor of back then forced him to change it to a man. I think he's always had it in him to write this sort of stuff.
>>
>>3617967
I wonder how many LNs were going to have a female protagonist before someone at the publisher told the author to change it. Or started off without harem only to get one later.

For example, if I remember that one book that was part of Qualidea Code, (anyone remember that?) Itsuka Sekai wo Sukuu Tame ni, was apparently supposed to have a male protagonist but the author pushed back and make it a girl in disguise, then even wrote in the afterword that the editor told him that old "yuri doesn't sell" line.
>>
>>3617976
Probably a lot, but those are probably just two of several aspects they asked to change, how many fantasy stories becomed isekai, how many sci fi turned into something else, etc... to be fair to the publisher, it's very likely that a lot of authors also try to write much more than can obviously handle, from the publisher point of view it is really harder for them to evaluate what is a good or bad work when it is something that isn't part of their usual output, in a sense you could argue that it's less about yuri not selling and more about they not knowing how to sell yuri.

Though more and more this is making less sense, especially now that the market was flooded with isekai and harem and their audience can't really tell what makes one work different from the other, it also seems that a lot of the targetted audience for this type of work is actually spending most of their money on gatcha and similar products, so it just isn't as profitable anymore and that most likely is the explanation why some of those works are derailing so much lately, authors just don't know how to grab that audience and are shooting in the dark.

I think long running stories like Adashima, Otherside and Watanare really showed that the yuri aspect isn't something that keeps the reader away, though I can also see publishers just publishing yuri stories without tagging them as yuri from now on too, I'm pretty sure some of those "all female cast" stories will have some sort of actual yuri ending, but they aren't actually romance stories.

Perhaps. Maybe one day I'll get around to reading that massive clusterfuck that is KKC.

>>3617976
The issue seems to be that a low quality het LN still has much bigger chances to sell than a low quality yuri LN. The readership pool is just infinitely bigger. It's much easier to just write your run-of-the-mill haremshit isekai and make profit. Both editors and writers want to make money, especially a writer who is just a beginner.
>>
Yeah, when it comes down to it, they pretty much have figured what a het harem romcom or an isekai harem has to follow to reach a certain metric in sales, even if turns out this metric isn't anything special.

Though it seems that the gold rush for Isekai and Harem did a lot of unexpected damage, people are not even baiting an eye to a lot of franchises that should have been more popular.
>>
>>3618023
On that note I'm kind of surprised there aren't more slow-paced CGDCT novel series like something out of Manga Time Kirara, since that seems to be the most popular choice for stories focusing on female characters. But Slime Taoshite 300 nen and Kuma Kuma Bear are probably the only examples of that I can think of.
>>
>>3618043
My honest guess is that since this type of publication would also fit in a 4 koma format and how dependent they are of how cute the character designs are, is that authors either go directly or are told that their content would fit better in a manga magazine.

I forgot completely about this and finally got to reading it. I was wrong. I thought that Takasora was Shimamura's kouhai from volume 9, but Shimamura is actually Takasora's kouhai. Takasora watches Adachi pass by them, but Shimamura doesn't notice her, the story is happening at the same timeframe as AdaShima.

>>3617801
By the way, I was wrong about this too. I googled a bit and turns out, the girl who talks to Hino is "Kaguya-Hime" from Denpa Onna, she's an alien who came from the moon and takes care of Denpa Onna's Yashiro in her house. Were it years ago, I wouldn't think a thing of that, but since Iruma is making full use of the everyone-is-gay magic and we have two gay Yashiros already, Kaguya appearing in AdaShima fills me with curiosity.
>>
>>3617996
>The issue seems to be that a low quality het LN still has much bigger chances to sell than a low quality yuri LN.
The market might be bigger, but that means nothing given how much more works exist. The chances aren't better.

Japan just loves to operate on the "use tried and true things, so you can't be blamed if things go wrong" idea. Regardless of how the actual situation of the yuri market is, in a lot of eyes it's a "risk" because it's a small market.

Corporate bullshit if you want to call it something. Stagnating the "successful" market while not daring to branch out, ultimately losing money but at least saving face. The gacha market also goes through that right now. Heck, videogames in general, when it comes to Japan. (so especially J-Rpgs turn more and more away from Jrpg and become action games with minor rpg elements not worth talking about)

Obviously companies need profits to operate, and there are still some that actually do try something a little different. I mean, the yuri market IS there. But it's a SUPER FUCKING SLOW process thanks to Japan's way of working. For the Japanese market it might not even be that bad, but for us this tends to look weird.

There are lots and lots of those series, you won't hear about most of them because we are very well served of yuri to have to read stuff like that, but there's enough of those that are kinda gay but don't get close enough for people like Tsudzuri to care. Tamer Shimai is about two sisters who go to a Pokemon-like game world and get a bunch of pets, they're pretty close but I doubt it would ever go anywhere real gay. I also talked about Nostalgia World Online here a while ago, and it even has a "GL-like" tag on Narou, so maybe it could go somewhere, but I wouldn't expect anything you wouldn't get at Kirara. And then there's a bunch of pretty gay novels that people call yuri but that didn't go anywhere as of now (And may not), like Shinmai Renkinjutsushi, 10-sai no Saikyou Madoushi, Tensei Daiseijo, etc.

>>3618973
Yeah, but when I say timeframe, I mean the same year. I kept thinking of that because I thought that Takasora was Shimamura's kouhai, so I expected Shimamura to be at least 18, since she's 17 in Hatsukoi. Shimamura also meets with Kana when she's already dating Miyabi, and when they graduate and move together, Kana is already famous. Miyabi also goes to Seri's tea store and asks for a tea that would fit her teacup, and Seri recognizes it as something probably made by someone famous. So I'm just trying to sort when everything happens (albeit loosely), so I can catch references and easter eggs.
>>
>>3618981
It appears that the majority of stories written by Iruma start at approximately the same time. Yashiro sometimes gets ideas for her animal costumes from watching the cosplay girl in Denpa Onna, for example.
Speaking of easter eggs I just recalled that Tarumi talks about hearing stories of schoolgirls dating older women, but this happens during her conversation with Shimamura when more than a year and half has already passed. It could mean that Tarumi is going to the same all-girl school as the characters in Hatsukoi.

The cover didn't mean anything specific. Vol 7 was about exorcising Satsuki by putting the casts' emotional attachment to her to rest. There was a lot of character development for e.g. Toriko, Kozakura but the concrete details of what actually happened to Satsuki are unclear; whether for further development in the future or to reinforce the theme that said details are besides the point.

I understand that this is mostly done for marketing purpose, but it's so strange to think that the characters of both series live in the same city, it's like they live in two completely different worlds.
The AdaShima characters are all somewhat wacky and friendly, while in WataKoi(is this the correct abbreviation?) the general atmosphere is so hostile, there's domestic abuse, prostitution, one of the characters got actually bullied at school in the past, even the language used is more "rough". I wonder if the author is trying to draw a parallel here.

Not actually for marketing purpose, Iruma just likes to write stuff in the same universe in the same way a lot of authors he look up to and who became authors at the same time as him do (For example, the 4th Shizuru-san volume is a crossover with Boogiepop, two different series by Kadono Kouhei, who inspired Iruma).
>>3619718 This, to be honest. I don't feel anything wrong with it, maybe because I'm used to other authors, or Iruma himself doing it, seeing that Mii-kun has extremely dark scenes you wouldn't ever imagine in AdaShima, and yet, characters from that series (Or from other series that also appeared there) keep appearing in AdaShima. The stories in Shoujo Mousouchuu and End Blue are also not worried at all about keeping it family friendly. Seri's niece bursts her eye as a baby and she loses the sight forever, then when she grows up, they start fully dating, and their relationship is very sexual. Meanwhile, Miyabi kills three hitmen who came for her life, breaking her two arms, losing an eye and getting a terrible scar in the top of her forehead in the process..
That crossover nature actually creates bigger mysteries and details to the universe, like what is said in KanoKami by Yashiro about how there are two dozens of Yashiro's and how she was left in that planet because she wasn't particularly good at shape-shifting and liked the lake that was there. But that also gives insight about how they are running away from something, and while some have a clear idea of where they are going, some are just doing their thing (That Yashiro is also a warrior who kills dozens of "humans," the story is very graphic).
There's also several realities and dimensions, as you can see from AdaShima, so the universe is just really really big and while terrible things happen in a part of it, things not so terrible happen in other parts where people can live without having to think about guns and murder.
>>

In the end, now that Iruma is older and his safer series gave him more success than the darker ones, which allowed him to give them a bit more of attention, the number is well balanced. But whenever something new comes out, the chances of it being any of both should be at least 50/50. I plan to read "Otomodachi Robo Choko" and "Sekai no Owari no Niwa de" any of these days, but I don't expect them to be the fluffy romance we have in AdaShima, sometimes Iruma likes it edgy.
>>
>>3619771
>>3619781
I see, that's interesting since I only read AdaShima and this new work from Iruma so far. I knew that some characters from his edgy series already appear as cameos, however my impressions about the crossover being used for marketing come mostly from the fact that the collab SS with AdaShima is sold as a bonus on Melonbooks and on top of that Dengeki Bunko keeps retweeting the one posted on Iruma's blog.
Also I'm getting more anxious about the continuation of WataKoi now, because Iruma apparently has no brakes and I get some really eerie vibes from the story.
>>
Damn, Iruma sure is productive. Are there more of his yuri works in English than just Saeki Sayaka and Adashima?

If not, is there anywhere I can familiarize myself with them in Nihongo? I think I can nail it using Nazeka.

Also, did he retcon his early works into gay territory? Are they worth reading now?
>>
>>3619813
I don't know, I expect it to get a few twists and they may get violent, but I don't expect anything other than a happy ending. What I'm worried is what that means. For instance, Chiki may go away for good and Umi may remain with Takasora in the end. A poly ending would be the best for me, since Chiki really doesn't seem to mind it and Umi may fall for Takasora as well, once she realizes what she feels and what she's capable of doing for her. But no matter how I think of it, I can't deny the big chances of Chiki leaving for one of several reasons. It could also remain like this, in a small scale, and we could have an "open" ending where Chiki leaves but promises coming back, then Umi and Takasora wait for her and it ends with her returning.
About the universe thing, there are hundreds of details in WataKoi that may be overlooked if you don't know about it. Takasora has a light hair and the last time she saw her "father" was when he was in a tall place, that's just like Erio from Denpa Onna, who is a well-known daughter of an alien. Meanwhile, Umi has only part of her hair light, which makes me wonder if she's only one-third alien or something. Aliens and related people have weird abilities or are just fucked up in the head in some way, traces that Umi's mom certainly shows. Not only that, Chiki herself also fits all the requisites, which also explains why she's in touch with Hino's family that is in touch with Kaguya-Hime, an alien. Several characters of the other stories also have mysterious circumstances that are still unexplained, but it's all connected.
>>
>>3619845
Several of his characters from the old works appear in the new ones, but I didn't read them, I just check wikis and stuff for that. If you're looking for actual yuri, only the newer ones are worth reading.
If you want to read, just grab the epubs and throw at https://ttu-ebook.web.app/ . I use Yomichan, but Nazeka also works.
>>
>>3619854

>>
>>3619244
Ah, I see my reading comprehension has failed me. Sorawo is definitely has more mom vibes and Toriko seems more mama to me.
>>
>>3619850
To be quite frank I can't see Iruma ever going for a poly ending, he really seems to enjoy the idea that the third wheel has to get btfo.
Plus, Chiki makes that speech about wanting to trample over everything Umi values in life so all she'll have left is to rely only on her after Umi tells her that she doesn't want to abandon her mother, also she clearly feigns indifference when Umi says she wants to be friends with Takasora but then the first thing she does before kissing Umi at the end is looking Takasora's way as if to say "See? I won". In that regard, she also seems fixated on having to "defeat" others. In short, she doesn't really seem willing to share her toy with anybody else.
I think that in the end Umi will have to decide if she's willing to follow Chiki and abandon her mother, Takasora and maybe even something else. If this was any other author I would say that Umi will probably decide to settle for a healtier relationship with the "nice girl", but if you check Iruma's history this actually looks like the less likely outcome.
On a meta level, Iruma loved Altdeus and in the true ending the MC has two options(choose her waifu or her friends/everybody who cares about her) guess what ending Iruma said he would have gone with if Altdeus was one of his works?
>>
Wonder how much Iruma was influenced by David Lynch.

They have different hair color from Japanese people, so they're usually mistaken for foreigners, but people usually agree that there's something very unique about their hair, especially how it shines (Shimamura finds Takasora and says that someone with a hair like that could only be her). So Komari 7, Arioto 5, Majo no Tabitabi 18, and the Majo spinoff novel all released on the same day. Pretty crazy.

And in a few days JP gets Drunk Vtuber 3 and Armed Maid 2 (pic related). Don't think I've found any clear indication of how yuri the latter is, though Tsuzuri actually picked it as their favorite yuri LN of 2021 alongside the Soviet Sniper Girl novel.

Then to cap the month off there's Katena 2. I haven't heard much about it on the yuri front but it's from the Magical Revolution author so I'm pretty optimistic about this going yuri. Someone who read it told it it's one of those Slow Life stories like Slime Taoshite 300 nen, and not any kind of adventure, though

Not really. Katena creates special weapons only her can use and fights demons. She's got rivals and friends (Who have been hinted as possible partners) and there's a lot of politics and an actual development. It's definitely the same kind of story as TenTen, Isekai done well.

The races are only loosely based in real ones. This volume is about "China."
>>
I finished Komari 7 and I gotta say, I was 100% right about it being the gayest volume until now (Well, every new volume is the gayest). Rinzu was the real MVP and it was so very gay, I don't know what to expect anymore.
Rinzu uses Meifa's power to get Komari in love with her to save her country, but getting there, Komari has to fight for her hand to save her from an undesired marriage. Among playing dating and screaming words of love in public in a duel for her hand, Rinzu can't help but really falling for Komari, most of the book is her blushing because of Koma. This ended up being the first volume with actual romance, with Rinzu confessing her love to Komari before dying tragically in her arms (She's saved later). Komari's aura becomes rainbow colored after she drinks Rinzu's blood, and the effects can last for days and even work with other instances of Komari's powers, making her the perfect wife. In the end, Komari becomes the new empress of Rinzu's country and they get married on paper, with most of the country congratulating and rejoicing the union, the entire city makes a festival with 5 huge rainbow colored pillars scattered around the city. Rinzu also got Viru and Sakuna jealous the entire book, and even managed to make Neria jealous and worried when she realized that Komari was serious about marrying her (Neria was always very cool about Komari fooling around with other girls, but when it finally looked like Komari was actually interested, she really lost it). To give her the perfect grade, she even ended up having to become a citizen of Komari's country, which probably means living together in a near future.
>>
Bonus: >>3621577 Russian girl (Prohelia) and Neko girl (Leona) keep fooling around together, but this volume hinted a lot about their future relationship, with them even arguing about who would ever marry each other of them when Neko congratulated Komari for the engagement. The villain girl also seems pretty gay about her boss, which is a good addition of adult lesbians around. Other than that, Neria's maid keeps being jealous of Neria as usual, this time especially when she tickles Ester in front of her in public. Rinzu's maid also seems very dejected any time she sees her around Komari, and looks particularly shocked when she realizes that Rinzu really fell for her.
>>
As a side note, Kagura doesn't appear at all in volume 7...

Viru was the only one winning anywhere always, this volume was a game changer.
The worrying one is Sakuna, 7 volumes and she's still wearing her Yaya badge, too afraid of telling Komari that she's also a pervert. Meanwhile, Rinzu ends the book being hugged by Komari and describing how good it feels to have her small breasts pressed against hers.

his early works are garbage and you should not be reading them
>>
>>3622661
They're certainly not yuri, but it was always well received and made way for all the yuri he's doing now. He wrote over 60 books and only 16 of those can be called yuri, so most of his works aren't really for us. However, since all of them share the same universe, if you don't mind reading het to get more out of his yuri works, you could do it. AdaShima happens at least two decades after his first series, and several adult characters come from there or are related to it in some way, as usual. Apparently, the fortune teller woman is a classmate of the characters from the first series, for instance. Umi and Takasora's mom also share a past that goes that far back. I'm probably not reading any het any time soon though, there's too much yuri around and not enough time, but if there's anyone willing to hunt all these connections down and organize in a wiki, that would be great (We have some now but they're not really complete). Who is the girl that Kana's teacher is thinking about when Kana says that she's been kissing another girl? Can I have my hopes up?

Maybe, but the girl she thinks about is her classmate in high school, so I don't think it's really there. Her age wasn't revealed as well, it seems, so it's hard to track. Several Iruma characters use handle names or just don't tell their names at all, so she may be one of them too, appearing as a nameless high school girl somewhere.
There are several of these small characters you probably can't name unless you read all the rest of Iruma's books, and I feel like some of them may get some development as sub-characters in several books before getting something focused in them (if they get any).
In Shoujo Mousouchuu, Ao meets with a "teacher" who talks to her about a meteorite, which reminds Ao that one fell in that city just before she moved in, and that seems to be the same city Adachi and Shimamura move to after graduation, but at least a decade before. That teacher seems to be Kanae from Nijiiro Alien (Because a short story collection called "Rainbow Alien" couldn't exist without lesbians), and Iruma even says that he thought of adding a Kanae short in End Blue as well, but ended up having to scrap the idea.
Also, when Mei is narrating, a 3rd year high school girl visits the tea store and says that her father is called 郷四郎, that seems to be Hino's older brother. She's really small and walks around wearing a kimono. So Hino may have another lesbian in the family.
The timeline is what is really hard to grasp though, and how Iruma loves to leave unanswered mysteries, like who were the two women running past Seri and Mei when they kiss in the beach. I first thought that it would be Ao and the running girl, but since they are in a completely different reality, I don't think that's the case.

Sometimes a lot of the information match in weird ways or just don't. Seri and Mei started dating when Mei was 15, then Miyabi and Seri interact and it seems like Kana is already a famous potter, despite there not being actual evidence (Seri says that her tea cup reminds her of a famous potter, but it may be her teacher), while Shimamura sees Kana in a magazine when she's around 20. But Hino says that "even the girl from the tea store has big breasts" in volume 8, while Mei has them small (left on the image), Seri is the one with the big ones. We've seen Hino's niece visiting their store, so they're clearly acquaintances, and there wouldn't make sense to make all of this to have more than a single tea store that matters in the neighborhood. Maybe all the groping made Mei's boobs grow very quickly, at least half of her genes are big boobs genes after all. The actual issue is how Hino's niece is 18, but in volume 6 Hino jokes about Nagafuji marrying her brother (Niece's father), so we can infer that he's both not that older than them and single. Like that, the chances of Seri being the tea store girl and that her story with Mei happens 20 years after that are big. But that just makes the timeline harder to grasp overall.

All of this gave me an headache. I don't want to add up with more stuff to make it even more confusing, but there are just two details about the timeline I'd like to add: Hino's niece is 5 years old by the time the former is 27 (source: 別にこうなる予定はないかもしれない10年後 on Iruma's Kakuyomu), which sounds consistent with the details we know about Hino's brother.
Next, in the main timeline in vol 9, Yashiro says that something is gonna happen in 15 years. If we assume that Adachi and Shimamura move in together after finishing university(so after 1 year of high school + 4 of university), it fits with the meteorite crashing in the city 10 years after that. This should pretty much confirm that Shoujo Mousouchuu happens at least that much later.
I also wouldn't try to make too much sense out of all of this because I get the feeling that Iruma is making shit up as he's writing stuff, so there must be more than a few inconsistencies.

>>
>>3623686
It's vague enough that he shouldn't care about making it all consistent, but the amount of connections make it really hard to make it half-assed. I always thought that whatever Yashiro said was going to happen would be of a much bigger scale, and I thought that the meteorite thing would be just the same thing that happened in Denpa Onna where the other Yashiro apparently made a meteorite crash because she felt like it, which doesn't make it any less confusing. I'm just looking forward to it and curious to see how it all connects. Both Mousouchuu and End Blue also add more elements to the universe around this city and raise several elements we see elsewhere (Like the girls talking about how the blue of the ocean and the sky blend in Mousouchuu, then Takasora and Umi are both named like that (And Chiki is the "land"), then blue Yashiro and so on).
I don't think this is really relevant, but there's this curious thing about End Blue where the color is certainly important to the plot, and half of it is about a girl with a fake eye seeing something only her can see and going to a "dream world" much like reality where only her and another girl exist. The other girl also sees the same she's seeing, a bird, and starts to run after the bird until she finds herself in this other world without even realizing. To come back, Ao does as always and "grabs" the running girl's ghost, while Seri has to pierce her own eye. I kept thinking of Urasekai as I read it! Now back on topic: I think that both the bird and the copy of the city in Seri's dreams have to do with aliens, Yashiro appears several times in Shimamura's dreams, but I still have no idea what the hell the bird that keeps flying in the sky is supposed to be (And where's the skyfish?). By the way, I hope that the next short story collection is the Nijiiro sequel along with a KanoKami one and I really should read the shorts in Kakuyomu but I keep forgetting about them.

It seems that all volumes are getting a reprint, so most likely it's just a case of it selling well all around, though I do find this a little suspicious, wouldn't be surprised if there is an anime announcement coming.

It's the stores who order books, the publisher can make deals so they buy more, but I'm not sure if books have returnability like games do (usually after a while the publisher has to buy a part of the unsold stock back), since it's pretty much trial and error it's not uncommon for them to order more or less than they should, though usually those reprints only happens one or two weeks after the release, not months later.

Vampires (Blood suckers. British? French?) - Suck blood, that's it.
Human beasts (Half-humans. Africans) - Have a wide variety of subspecies, some are humans with ears, some are fully animal-like bipeds.
Sougyoku (Russians) - Love the cold and have a skin as hard as iron.
Senryuu (Germans? French? Russians?) - Sword masters and live for battling.
Wakon (Japanese) - Peace with nature, candies. Nothing in special other than a weird way to sense time.
Shinsen (Taoist Immortals. Chinese) - Can live extremely long and like building stuff upwards only because they can fly.

Her harem is pretty much her subordinates, the 3 princesses and even their maids, the beast girl and Russian girl are the only ones still outside of the circle, but after volume 7, I can't say if they will remain like that. So, Viru, Sakuna, Ester, Neria, Karura, Rinzu (and their respective maids). There are also several other characters that have shown either interest or hate for Komari and have a deep connection with her, which may turn them into harem members: Karen (Empress and Komari's sugar mom), Mirisento (Used to bully Komari, became a Shichiguten and ended up supporting her several times after that, still insists in hating Komari), Moniku (Ester's sister, has a heart attack when meeting Komari because she loves her), Furette (Loves the Empress, thus hating Komari for being loved by her), Fuuyao (Hates Komari's mom but looks up to Komari for being strong). Now the maids: Gaatoruudo (Hates Komari for being loved by Neria), Koharu (Karura's maid and ninja, loves Komari's books), Petorina (Russian girl's maid, hates Komari for being more famous than her boss), Ryan (Rinzu's maid, seems to have mixed feelings about Komari, but loses her mind and blushes when Komari holds her in her arms). Other than that, there is the usual every girl will be gay with every girl thing, where Meruka will always get extremely close to Komari for no reason.
The image illustrates it well.

Possibly a play on Shangri-la in Japanese, 桃源郷 (Tougenkyou)), Senryuu are from "Gera-Arukana Kyouwakoku" (Gela Arcana? Republic), Sougyoku are from "Hakkyoku Renpou" (Union of the Hakkyoku (Deep White) Republics - High chances of being a play on Soviet Russia's name in Japanese, ソビエト連邦 (Soviet Renpou)).

To the anon who suggested Koko de wa neko no kotoba de hanase, thanks, I guess.
It was definitely a better read than YuriTama with its retarded story and empty characters.
It was nice how every girl was openly gay... at least until the last chapters when it suddenly looked like it was written by a completely different person when it hits you with random words like dick and futanari out of nowhere, accurately describes cats' balls and the classmates that where all into Aanya at the beginning suddenly started talking about wanting a boyfriend.
And then the afterwards where the author brings dicks up twice. It's not different from YuriTama's author suggesting you to buy his het novel "I gave money to my friend and he gave me his sister". What kind of people is writing yuri, seriously?
Well, it was a good series with a lot of yuri and no het and I'm looking forward the second volume, but these disgusting things trigger me. It's really unpleasant when you're relaxed reading yuri and then you have to read about dicks and balls. Why do they have to include this absolutely meaningless stuff.

Changing topic, after the latest spoilers of Hikikomari in this thread I got convinced to buy it, even if I don't know when I'll have time to read 7 volumes plus 7 more on the way, but the first chapter of the manga was released in the RR thread and it's not what I expected.
Will it get better speaking of romance, or will it always be "random girls fall in love with useless MC for no reason at all" kind of het romcom and WataNare and YuriTama trope?
>>
>>3624988
I know watanare gave proper reason for both Mai and Ajisai so you are likely autistic, full of shit or haven't really read the series you mentioned
>>
>>3624988
Honestly, the villain making a futanari joke made me roll my eyes, but she wasn't supposed to be likeable anyway. Cats balls don't bother me, I have cats and I read Otome no Teikoku. The afterword though, what the hell was that creep thinking? (Lol, I really didn't get it) The friends talking about boyfriends felt like someone inside it trying to shake off the lesbian suspicion when we all know that even the friends talking about it are very gay, so I didn't mind either.

>Will it get better speaking of romance
Yes, volume one is already pretty good in that end, but every volume keeps developing more and more the girls' relationships, especially Komari and Viru's. Volume seven seems to be a water divisor since it literally made all the girls uneasy enough to move in future ones, so I can only expect it to go even gayer from now on. However, It's worth remembering that Komari is really good at lying to herself and running from responsibility, so she will probably keep getting in trouble with even more girls before dealing with the ones she's got at hand already (Which is why I always thought that the Viru ending to be much more likely than the harem one) Not forgetting that the focus in the story is mostly battle and comedy, so I wouldn't expect anything concrete before the very end, although we already got almost kisses, sleeping naked together, soulmate moments and even a marriage, so who knows. It's overall pretty heartwarming and satisfying, but if you're looking for 100% romance, I would suggest looking somewhere else.
>>
>>3624996
It's ok for Ajisai but the "you told me what everybody else never told me" reason for Mai is utterly retarded, also keeping in consideration that immediately after that fall from the roof she decided Renako was the woman of her life and wanted to marry her and sex her without any kind of romantic development.
And btw in the second volume we find out that Satsuki also never treated her like a goddess since they were little, so it's double retarded that she would fall for Renako just for that single talk.
If you're going to defend this shitty writing and pretend it isn't the same of any het harem romcom we all hate I don't have anything else to tell you, I really don't want to start another pointless discussion about WataNare.

Thank you for the answer, it's nice to see someone else didn't appreciate those parts like me. They were really out of place in a story that was perfect until that point.

About Hikikomari
>the focus in the story is mostly battle and comedy
what's the ratio of yuri in each volume? I mean what % of pages is about plot and what % is about yuri scenes? And is the plot interesting?
I still haven't bought OmaeGotoki because I'm reading the manga and I can't really find it interesting enough, but I'm fine with Urasekai picnic because the plot totally hooked me.
>>
>>3625012
Mai's reason has nothing to do with that so I am sure you are full of shit now
>>
>>3625014
It's hard to say because every volume is about Komari saving a girl while surrounded by other girls. There's also a very big number of female villains who get in touch with Komari or other girls in ways we can enjoy, so the entire thing is pretty gay even without the gayness. Omae Gotoki starts slow, but as volume 4, the amount of yuri and het explodes. But Omae Gotoki has more focused pairings and romance development, while Komari has a few volumes with a huge development between her and Viru, then the next one has no actual romantic interaction between them, while Komari gets closer to another girl. Every volume from 1 to 7 is filled with out-of-the-closet lesbians and yuri, so you should enjoy every single one of them, but it is a fantasy story at its core with actual plot and development. I'd say that every volume has 20% of comedy, 20% of joke yuri, 10% of real yuri (Some have much much more), and 50% of plot. Yeah, it's pretty interesting, original and reasonable that it won an award. There's very few red flags that don't get past volume 1, and some plot lines are extremely deep and interesting, especially after volume 3. I fully recommend it.

Ok then, you got me, I'll try the first volume.
For Omae Gotoki I'll stick to the manga for now, that spoiler is concerning.

I wouldn't worry, to be honest, the scale of how it increases is something like 0 to 1 or 2. Plus, they all die in the end anyway, that's the Kiki curse, no het shall survive. I can see how someone can get triggered by a few parts of it (as I did), but it's overall good yuri where it is and that is clad in stone. Looking forward to volume 5.

Het pairing in Omae Gotoki are honestly well done, I honest don't see why they would annoy anyone, once the story adds new characters you start getting a lot more POVs too.

It's a realy good story and Kiki also focuses a lot of chapters just for romantic development.

Seems so, she is a Satsuki Mai shipper so she should be seething inside in that part kek

>>3625015
Should be obvious, any who have read volume 3 and 4 wouldn't post that way
>>
I kinda got a little bit burned out on omaegotoki after kiki kept finding new and creative ways to make Flum suffer. I get that it's supposed to be a grimderp fantasy series but some parts are just straight up ryona.
>>
>>3625204
For example?
>>
>>3625204
Are you saying that just because Flum is a woman? Is Re:Zero also ryona because the MC keeps getting disemboweled?
>>
If you are talking about volume 4, I found that scene really good, it really uses Flum's healing to it's extreme and every battle in Omae Gotoki feels really nice because even if the protag wins in the end, it's always feels like she earned it and not just overpowered her enemy with her powers.

Just finished reading Busou Maid, didn't expect it to be this good. As a fantasy with guns, the way the guns and the fantasy mechanism work are pretty SF and well worked out, the writing is polished and clever without adding too much. The villains were actually interesting, I can't remember the last time that anything made me think that, I could read more about them. The main characters are great, especially the maid (She's crazy and I love it, plus she talks like a thug), watching their dynamic and how they kick ass was great. The action scenes are well written and the universe is expansive, this would work really really well as an anime, hopefully someone with the cash listens to this. As for the yuri, the first volume laid it out perfectly, these two have a fateful deep connection and love each other right away because they're the very person they've been looking for all their lives. The Kakuyomu page has the yuri tag and this has absolutely no red flags, so I expect their relationship to develop until Marina becomes Elisabeth's sex doll (Because she's actually a golem made of wood). As for the sub characters, most of them are male and they're all cool old men and some even are o/u/r guys, they don't get much screen time as well, so it shouldn't bother at all. There's also the old maid who keeps fighting Marina over Elisabeth, will this be the first triangle where the Yaya is an old woman? I'll only read the second volume tomorrow, but I'm very excited for it.
>>
About Hikikomari, is the series really based on a harem setting? or is that mostly joking considering every character is a girl? I'm excited for the official translations but if I don't want to end up disappointed in getting another fun setting destroyed like watanare
>>
>>3625357
Partially serious, partially a joke, depends on the character. Neria seems to want to be Komari's sister more than anything, and despite the several extremely gay moments, I always expected that to be how it would end for them. But Viru, Sakuna and Rinzu have already shown that their feelings for Komari are 100% romantic. And then there are all the other minor characters just interacting with Komari for other reasons and that ends being just girls being gay with girls. If anything, I really like the development of their relationship, since nothing just happens. Komari is stupid, but her personality and actions make people like her, especially the girls she saves, so you get a bunch of development in a single book (since they're all usually pretty big).

Someone with this much autism should never read any series
>>
>>3625204
I'm someone who has very low tolerance for grimderp stuff, (and I'm talking autistic levels of HATE for it) but I don't consider Omaegotoki to be grimderp-y at all. At least it doesn't make me seethe like the usual grimderp stuff do.
The one time I can say it maybe got a bit derpy was when Milkit got kidnapped out of nowhere while it reads like they were just going to prepare breakfast.

I think its probably the catharsis of reading Flum and Milkit actually getting to cuddle and handhold and stuff, it offsets the misfortune that happens to Flum in the series. It helps that they do that multiple times in a single volume. Though I've only read official tl'ed releases so I know nothing of the later parts.

When she is kidnapped and Flum is literally losing her vision from how much nervous and shaking she was, it was literally hard to read and the worse part is how long Flum (and the reader) was kept in the dark about Milkit.

So I finished reading vol 4. It was great.
Adds lots to the series.

Renako got lots of focus and development.
Kaho is cute, her role in the volume being non romance but low self-esteem headbutt buddies with Renako was great
Satsuki was being weird, at one point she suprised herself in regard to Renako, had a thought about kissing Mai, unexpectedly blushed to Ajisai etc
Ajisai is a natural little devil and a temptress as always
Mai is cool and amazing as always, Mai outside of Renako's pedestal (and Satsuki rivalry) on the other hand is no different from a normal girl as Ajisai said and her chapter showed, anxious, awkward, worried, jealous and hiding her sides she doesn't want others to see just like Renako. She also didn't have a good time in her middle school for example

The ending was suprising in a good way. I had a good laugh when Renako used her logic. Though I am not sure where it is going to go now, at first I was sure that it's the usual choose one girl route. Now I am not sure anymore.
Threesome route is sort of a new territory and it has a really good set up in comparison to others I have seen, particularly in setting up MaiAjisai paring. Maybe author will commit. May be he won't. What do anons think?

Also "not wanting to be hated" is this volume main focus I suppose
>>
>>3625500
This one is too funny
>>
>>3625563
IMO Ajisai will bail out
>>
>>3625576
Imo all 3 has the potential to yaya themselves for the other two because they are all such good girls and friends. As of now though, there are more chances for the remaining two to make sure the yaya won't be able to escape if one attempts to pull the self sacrificing act
>>
>>3625584
escape and be unhappy I mean
>>
>>3625584
What if all of them yaya'd themselves so no one loses
>>
>>3625590
So a friendship ending? I think I'd actually applaud Teren if he did that, pretty novel way of solving a triangle.
The original premise is Renako wanting friends, so it wouldn't even be completely out of the blue thematically.
>>
>>3625590
Might be funny but not possible, the pact was about all of them being happy
>>
>>3625590
But we just had a whole volume of Mai and Ajisai attempts to yaya themselves for each other happiness and not succeeding
>>
>>3625357
Nothing wrong with harem as long as it's yuri.
>>
>>3625597
Add some irony to it and Renako actually wants a girlfriend in the end but she locked herself out of options.
>>
>>3625597
You want author to kill his career?
>>
>>3625661
What if Renako just ends with another girl?
>>
>>3625667
I will approve if it is with this girl
>>
>>3625671
What if she ends with Satsuki mom?
>>
>>3625687
What if she gets with all of their moms? Instead of becoming their lovers she becomes their mother.
>>
>>3625692
I swear I would buy the novels, the manga and the BDs of the anime if Teren did this.
>>
>>3625671
Predictions for Vol 5 cover?
What are the chances it's Haruna?
Previous cover character?
Or a new character?
>>
>>3625804
Based on the afterword of vol 4, the next volume should be the start of "season 2" and the main focus should be Satsuki. Assuming that Season 2 will cycle through each of the 4 heroines again the covers should correspond accordingly.
>>
>>3625804
Hasegawa-san and Hirano-san

Probably Satsuki, or the other two together

Another AdaShima x Watashi no Hatsukoi crossover story:
https://twitter.com/bunko_dengeki/status/1484482250443948034

Now what's left is to have Umi meet Adachi I guess.
>>
>>3626440
How much they will offer for Adachi?
>>
>>3626445
Umi is the one selling herself, not the buyer.
>>
>>3626449
Then this crossover would make more sense with Tarumi
>>

Finally??
>>
>>3626440
Umi is working with Adachi already.
>>
>>3626512

>>3626533
Unless he means she works in the same place as Adachi, there was an older girl who once was interested in being part of Adachi's harem, but Adachi's harem only allows Shimamuras

If there really is a god, than there has to be more of this

If the manga ever gets to that part
