>Of course Seven Seas gave it a stupid English title that barely resembles the original.
I don't like how they changed it from Renako not thinking she's worthy of being in a relationship to implying she just doesn't want a relationship with Mai. Even if that's accurate.
But it's already going to take a year to come out and that's before the union issues started.

After four volumes of Hikikomari I have to say that, though the story surprisingly got me invested in it, the level of yuri is insufficient.
Volume 4 in particular had less yuri parts than volume 3, just a few scenes of Vil and Sakuna fighting for Komari. I know the teasing regarding the MC will likely last until the end (hoping it will have a proper yuri resolution) but the side pairs look like a waste. Neria and Gertrude, Karura and Koharu, Karin and Fuuyao, why can't we have an actual couple?
When I saw the opening illustrations of the fourth volume where Fuuyao is called the "free-loader" of Karin I immediately thought she was sleeping with Karin to get her position but I was immensely wrong. Actually, in this volume it isn't even explained how Fuuyao obtained Karin's trust.
And, after Vil refused Komari's CPR kiss in volume 3, now she refused even to marry Komari when she said she was willing to. That's out of character considering that this time the story is not even about Komari's duty as a general, but it's a matter regarding another country so Vil had no reason to force Komari to take part in it.
I hope the level of yuri will increasing in the next volumes.
Also the second epilogue made me cry, I had various theories about the Oomikami but they were all wrong and I wasn't ready for that.

I recently read the most recent English release of Wandering Witch and I'm wondering if Elaina's comments about how she would fall in love with Amnesia if she spent any prolonged amount of time with her change the meaning of her (lack of) response to Amnesia at the climax of the 4th volume. Originally, I thought she didn't feel the same way and was letting her down gently but now it seems more like Elaina is afraid the commitment/being tied down to someone will end her journey. It's kind of similar to why she keeps denying that Nike is her mom.
>>
>>3719393
Not that anon but I looked up that last one (Reverse 4 You) and it seems to only have a Thai version. On the other hand, apparently, that Thai drama called Gap that's based on a novel has an English translation here:
https://www.mebmarket.com/ebook-181426-GAP-ver-eng

The description having such awkward English doesn't give me much hope for the translation but maybe it is actually decent and idk bcs I didn't bother registering to read the sample. Unsure if there's really many English-tranlsated Thai novels. Funnily enough though there's quite a few jp yuri novels that have been translated to Thai but not English.

I can assure you I didn't finish V7 and V8 in the 20 minutes since my last post lol, I already have V8 downloaded, I don't plan to drop this series, but it really is hit or miss sometimes, the statue chapter feels like just the wall chapter with a different theme, while the one where Elaina goes after the two mages to convice them to come back is not only telegraphed all over the way but barely makes any sense since there is no way Elaina wouldn't know she wouldn't convice them to come back without a fight she was most assured to lose and die if it happened.

I agree, the story wasn't supposed to be a gag, but it was supposed to be a dark comedy, Elaina didn't even bother checking if the poor guy was already a goner though, she would at least go back to check it was Saya who was going to get eaten, maybe.

>>3723205
Is it still subtext when Elaina has said that she would fall in love with a girl if she spent enough time with them? That's probably what what caused the Saya-obsessed Elaina to fall head-over-heels. They spent a month together like Saya originally wanted instead of a few days.
>>
>>3723307
I am not disputing if Elaina is homosexual, every line of text and lore support this and none claims otherwise, but you can't honestly compare 7 volumes of development of two characters and others side couples with the few interactions Elaina had with Saya or other girls.
>>
>>3723313
My comment was more about the nature of subtext rather than comparing the girls' development. I guess I didn't make it clear enough.
>>
>>3723326
Unless Elaina clearly states she is in love with another girl or of course acts on it in an unambiguous way it won't be maintext.

I do wonder if the anime changed the perspective of the author, they knew very well that adapting Elaina randomly meeting people would be hard, so they focused on the interactions she has with recurring characters.

Vol.4
The latest Japanese printed version differ from the web version in a few subtle but significant ways, one of which being citing the circumstances of LGBT in Japanese society nowadays during actual confession scene.
>>
>>3724532
How yuri is this?
>>
>>3724532
I’m going to assume that the protagonist has met the other girls in person. Wonder if the author plays with the dichotomy of what her colleagues might be like online vs irl. Like maybe one of them acts very outgoing when she’s streaming but is actually an introvert. So like when they’re interacting online one might be flirty but their dynamic shifts in person.

If it doesn’t that seems like something someone should consider.

Something about Twinstar Cyclone Runaway
“Latest episode will be published in SF Magazine on 6/24”
Are chapters being serialized or is this like a short story?
>>
>>3724545
Quite a number of characters, including heroine, have exhibited clear sexual interest on other girls, and there are also different level of bonds between different characters, but this part of plot in Vol.4 is probably the first that can be described as hardcore romance relationship between two girls in the series.

>>3724613
Some have such difference online vs irl, but most who have such difference have their real life character exposed in live stream very soon. Like the main heroine in the very first part of the novel.
>>

Hikikomari 5 had finally some major yuri happening. A gay moment with Sukuna and a lot of development with Vil, nice.
If I had to point out something I disliked it would be the straight imouto and bringing back Gertrude's brother for no reason (the interaction with Neria was terrible).

I feel very sorry for Toriko. During the events of vol. 4 and vol. 5, Sorawo's behavior could be justified by the fact that she was frightened by Toriko's sudden assertion and that Sorawo didn't understand her own feelings. Now both Toriko has become less assertive and Sorawo has realized her feelings for Toriko, but continues to do nothing to develop the relationship. I can't even imagine what was in Toriko's heart during the anniversary dinner when Sorawo literally squeezed out her confesdion of love without saying that she loved her back. I think that's just cruel. Also, in the current volume finale, Sorawo's decision ”to give Toriko some time” seems like a convenient excuse because Sorawo thinks it's too much trouble to be around another person at a difficult time for them.
>>
Otherside v7 was great. Good closure, emotional or otherwise, on stuff that was started ages ago. And it's always fun to read them talk in detail about ghost stories or the inner workings of the Otherside.

Like it was for the first volume, the previous spoilers of the second volume of Watashi no hatsukoi aite ga kiss shiteta made it sound worse than what it is. It is very well written, as usual, and the perception of love is elaborated perfectly, Iruma is really my favourite author together with Miyazawa.
However, even if it's perfectly narrated I can't accept the fact that Takasora fell for Shiho.
>I can see how all those high shool girls fell for her, but I'm different from them
Yeah.
>they meet for the first time
>I hate you, die
>they meet for the third time
>oh no, I love her
I know it is perfectly explained and there is nothing out of place and everything makes sense and it's coherent (Iruma can really trace perfectly all the sequence of thoughts that make you fall in love) but it somehow makes her feelings for Umi look kind of cheap if she's swayed that easily (even if we know part of it it's because Shiho reminds her of Umi since she's her sister).
About this, their mother called Shiho Umi's pippi so she knows she's her lover and her sister and doesn't say anything about it?
Speaking of Shiho, I still can't understand at all what she's trying to do and what's her goal.
She said the ring was expensive to make Umi find some self-confidence but it's actually a cheap one and if she'll find out she will probably feel like shit thinking that's what she's worth.
And the thing with Takasora is even more confusing unless she's actually trying to fuck her. She's totally seducing her and it's enraging seeing how smooth it goes with so little effort because she's pretty and rich and studied how to say the right thing at the right moment.
Even if she's a great character maybe I can't like her on a personal level because I'm poor and can't help but being envious of rich people doing whatever they want like eating expensive and tasty food with their money (and it's not even her money but her grandpa's I guess).

Wasn't that an allusion to the pokémon Clefairy(ピッピ)? She even mentions the moonstone(perhaps a reference to how Shiho's name means "tide", so she's attracted by the moon?).
Also I wonder if Izumi actually knows what the two have been doing all this time. In the melonbooks special I have from vol 1 she tells Takasora that she considers herself a worthless human being so she won't tell Umi anything because that might be a bad influence for her.

>Speaking of Shiho, I still can't understand at all what she's trying to do and what's her goal.
She definitely cares about Umi and she probably also likes Takasora, however both her words and her actions keep contradicting themselves. Why is she asking Takasora to be friends with Umi if her actions are doing nothing but making the two hate each other? What's with this concept of "hell"? What was Umi and Takasora's "sin"?

>She said the ring was expensive to make Umi find some self-confidence but it's actually a cheap one and if she'll find out she will probably feel like shit thinking that's what she's worth
Isn't that the whole point? Buying her an expensive ring was too dangerous so she bought her a cheap one but if she didn't lie about the price Umi would feel like she isn't worth much.

>>3726926
A Takasora/Shiho ending is out of the question for several reasons. She even says herself that this was going to be her first and last summer vacation with Shiho. Also a minor detail but the bottle of tea Shiho gives her has Rilakkuma's face on it(does that remind you of something?).
A 3-way ending is also out of the question imo. Takasora will be fine with it as long as she's not left alone, but Umi will never accept it. Umi has yet to realize what she really wants from her relationship, but when she does she will reach the conclusion that she's not willing to share.
>>
>>3726944
>pokémon
Omg, I didn't realize it, now I understand the moonstone reply.
But I don't think her mother knew Umi was dating Shiho at that moment, she was just using the galgo word for lover (kanopippi/karepippi) and Takasora's mom replied with the moonstone to make a joke (I think).

>if she didn't lie about the price Umi would feel like she isn't worth much
But she told her she could sell it if she wanted (making her find out about the real price) so she's fine with her finding out sooner or later and in that moment that lie would only make her feel worse. Unless she's absolutely sure Umi will never sell it or go to ask the real price.

>an expensive ring was too dangerous
It sounded like an excuse to me. Why would it be dangerous? It's not like thieves are jewels experts that can tell if a ring is worth stealing just with a look from the distance.

Like I said, I can't understand Shiho's actions at all so this is just a conjecture of mine, but this lie about the ring looks like it's been made on purpose to make Umi find it out and, together with her secretely going out with Takasora, ultimately make Umi hate her so they will break up. Because she thinks their relationship won't last forever and she's a trash woman that only cares about JK anyway.
I think she got close to Umi because she's her sister and wanted to save her from that empty life she was living but now Umi has Takasora next to her so she thinks it's the moment for her to step back because now her sister can live a normal life without prostitution and incest. And she can go back to fuck JK.

I hope volume 3 will give us more info about Shiho and will make a sense out of all her actions until now. And her backstory too.

>It sounded like an excuse to me. Why would it be dangerous? It's not like thieves are jewels experts that can tell if a ring is worth stealing just with a look from the distance
She does seem like she's always on alert judging by how quickly she notices everything, how she says that she's not a peaceful person and how touching Umi calms her down, so it's possible that she's just really cautious.
>Because she thinks their relationship won't last forever and she's a trash woman that only cares about JK anyway
Well, she does seem 100% convinced that they will break up sooner or later, which makes me wonder if all of her actions have been made on that premise. I wonder why she also seems concerned about the fact that Umi is growing up, she comments on that in vol 1 when she suddenly touches her boobs in the park, in vol 2 when she says that she wishes Umi always stayed a child, and in the special I posted above.
In any case that would be quite cruel towards Takasora if that was her intent. What was her plan, to make Takasora fall for her for the sole purpose of turning her into a miserable mess like Umi is (something something the sky and the sea blend together in the darkness) so the two can bond over how much of a cunt she was towards them?
>>
>>3726952
Thank you for sharing.

>>3726961
I don't have a good opinion of Shiho so I think it's totally possible she went out with Takasora only to make Umi find it out, after all she went out with her four times and only once with Umi, and they stayed in the same city where they could have been seen.
Seducing her could also be an attempt to make Takasora act weird in front of Umi, making her suspicious.
And in the end she is a JK obsessed pervert (and this is also the reason why she doesn't want Umi to grow), so she probably wanted to try to fuck Takasora too while she is using her to make Umi hate her.
>>
>>3727331
>she is a JK obsessed pervert (and this is also the reason why she doesn't want Umi to grow)
I wonder if that's the whole reason though. There's that "becoming like a baby" thing, which in my opinion isn't necessarily just something lewd, instead it could be related to the concept of being completely dependent on a person and letting them take complete control in exchange for getting spoiled and taken care of. Umi "growing up" could mean that soon she'll be independent and that she won't need Shiho anymore. If we go back to the shitty name analogy, Umi says that she can't live without Shiho, however a sea where there's no tide can exist (the other way around however is impossible).
I'm also not sure about her wanting to outright be hated. Rather, judging from how excited she looks when she finds out that Umi went to Hino's to look for her real name, it seems to me that she considers this more like a sort of "challenge" between them, which also goes back to how she said that to become more confident you need to defeat others. But to be honest it could be literally anything, Iruma is a sly motherfucker and basically left hints for any sort of possible development(also what does he mean when he says that Shiho could be the actual MC?)

Elaina was probably there, she just didn't understood what changed, everything seems like usual to her
>>
YuriTama really went full incest.
It's weird to read two novels about incest one after the other.
However the resolution was a total disappointment with the trashy MC rejecting her sisters when she could four-timing. I mean, if you're going to write such a bad series just go all the way with it, don't try to go moral with incest when the MC is already absolute trash for two-timing. The very bad writing doesn't help since, after the two girlfriends, also the two sisters are in love with the MC for no other reason than "she's kind even if she's an average dumb girl". And let's not even talk about how easily everyone accepts the two-timing, including the two girlfriends that share the MC without ever being jealous even if they flirt with the MC in front of each other.
Volume 3 is not confirmed and the author said he doesn't even have any idea about future developments to furthermore prove how the story is all over the place. I wouldn't be surprised if in volume 3 even the teacher will fall in love with the MC because she hugged her.

So this is the full cover of the first volume of the manga, right?
It's nice to have the illustrator of the novel as the artist for the manga too.
And I've just found out there is a voiced PV.

And a manzai- I mean, an audio drama.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FTcQ_8azb0

I've also finished the 6th volume and once again the yuri is way too light, only the usual Vil and Sakuna's shenanigans.
There is a lot of potential with all these characters but the author just won't go full yuri.
Like Rorokko could be full tsundere for Komari but she's wasted to be het. I thought Rinzu could save her when they met but I was wrong once again.
The next volume will finally be Komari's wedding, but we already know that it's just Rinzu's Rekkaku kaihou so I guess will get nothing from it other than a jealous Vil.

Teren said at the end of the 5th volume that the next deadline was WataNare. It was in January and WataNare 5 hasn't been announced yet, so I doubt AriOto 6 is coming soon.
Regarding the manga, at the end of the second volume they said the series will continue for "a little bit more" but only the trip at the end of the first volume of the novel is left to be adapted and it surely won't take a whole volume so I wonder what they're going to do with it.
>>

It wasn't technically late due to the schedule for free access to chapters trailing the paid "preview" release of new chapters by several months. However, there was a 2 month break between ch 13 and ch 14.

Ch 15 is expected to wrap up Vol 3 of the tankoubon and finish Vol 1 of the novel. However, at present it is rather uncertain whether the adaptation will continue on to Vol 2 and beyond. Kayako has tweeted somewhat pessimistically about the adaptation's future depending on sales in the past.

Title: A battlefield in paradise where feelings overlap. And the two took up arms

Summary: Girls cross blades in pursuit of an ideal. A yuri battle fantasy!
Rene is a meddlesome, hardworking girl. Her efforts draw everyone around her, and everyone cheers for her. Seska is a solitary genius. Her wisdom became her strength, and everyone was convinced of her victory. Now, these two roommates, who are each other's heroes, exchange weapons to achieve their dreams!

Finished Hikikomari 7, definitely the gayest volume until now.
First of all let's talk about the correct way of writing Rinzu's name. They said her name starts with L, so it looks like it could be Linze but an english-like name doesn't make sense since her name is originally written in kanji. Her country is based on China so should it be something like Lin Tzu? Or considering how Japan always uses wrong pronunciation for chinese names (like Kong Ming pronunced Koumei) should it be Ling Zi?
Going back to the yuri, like said before, Komari fell in love with Ling Zi because of a Rekkaku kaihou, and the first chapter is all about Komari's feelings for her and it's beautiful... but it's fabricated. When she is liberated from the Rekkaku kaihou she isn't in love with her anymore. Though, being the useless lesbian she is, she still goes dokidoki when she looks at her like when she sees her in a wedding dress.
However the real surprise is that Ling Zi falls in love with Komari herself and it's so precious. She confessed and, according to the law of her country, at the end they are married for real. Didn't expect that.

On the downside, Vil and Sakuna are turned into comical relief with their jealousy for the whole volume.
If I have to point out the bad things I have to say Komari wore a suit instead of a wedding dress, Riona confirmed as straight killing the ship with Proheriya, and Komari sucking Ling Zi's blood by biting her instead of drinking the blood that came out from her mouth, it could have been a good scene for the first kiss of the series. Though Ling Zi knew that sucking blood is an intimate action for vampires and she blushed so it's ok.
>>
>>3737421
Talking about the story, there were a lot of revelations but I find some details kinda confusing and incoherent with what was previously said (don't read if you don't want spoilers):
Ling Zi's father said their Makaku is broken since 600 years ago, but didn't Spica said 500 years ago the Makaku didn't exist?
The thing in the 1st volume with Amatsu and Millicent seemed to prove that you can't forcefully develop a Rekkaku kaihou and Madhart failed experiments in the 3rd volume confirmed it. But now we discover the Yousenkyou has been successfully developing a Rekkaku kaihou for 600 years. And not only a random Rekkaku kaihou but always the one they needed. The Rekkaku kaihou is "the strength of the heart" so it should be different for every person since everyone has a different heart. It shouldn't depend by how you lived, after all Komari already had hers when she was still a baby. And even if you can, it's impossible to recreate always the same life for every subject. Just think about Ling Zi that had Ryan Meifa bringing her out of her home.
And, I don't remember, did Ling Zi ever said how old she is? She looks underage but we know the Shinsen have long lives so she could be older. Because, if she really was underage, I'm wondering how many sacrifices they killed in 600 years to keep the Makaku active. That's insane.
Also, how the hell can you hide a knife pierced in your chest inside your clothes?
Finally, I think Komari's Rekkaku kaihou with a Shinsen's blood hasn't been explained clearly. I mean, the blood of Ryan Meifa that ended up in Komari's mouth at the beginning has lasted for the whole volume? The fall from the tower, the bomb... It is endless? It will keep activating everytime Komari will be about to die?
Oh, and for once I guessed correctly a development in the story: Ling Zi registered in the Mulnight's Makaku. It was easy to imagine knowing Berius did the same thing.

I hope Ling Zi will be a regular character from now on.

>>3737697
Neria (pink hair in this pic >>3737702 ) only wants to make Komari her maid. It could be seen as yuri but she didn't express romantic feelings for her. But she already has a maid that clearly likes her.

I'm considering using DeepL to translate and read some JP-only novels since I'm tired of waiting for translators to catch up to them (if ever). But I've never really used it before for things beyond small sentences, so how much consistency could one expect from its MTL compared to something like the average fan translation?
>>
>>3739158
The average fan translation is probably 80% machine translated even if the translator knows Japanese just for the convenience. You might run into a bit of trouble with fantasy series that have a lot of made-up terms or exotic names though.

Also DeepL has a tendency to just give up and omit things if it runs into problem. Also if you give it a lot of text at once, it gets a bit weird.

>The average fan translation is probably 80% machine translated
Lol yeah that's why I also mentioned my quality standards being settled at the usual novelupdates translations. I suppose I'll compare some webnovels there with their JP text straight up MTLed in deepl to see if the difference is noticeable or not.

Well, at least until I came toward a fatal issue: it kept using male pronouns to refer to some of the main (female) characters' names. I could manually fix each of these mistakes despite their occurrence frequency, but that just wouldn't be a pleasing experience in the long run.
>>
>>3739251
Have you tried "searching and replacing"? It's in Word Office, at least. If they are very similar and frequent, it can help.
>>
>>3739254
This does make things a lot easier, but some novels don't have all female characters, which could lead to me thinking a male character is actually female and being traumatized later when I make a false studentxteacher yuri ship or something. Plus another issue is that the translation can also mistake pronouns of some non-living or non-human beings (it=she/he) to make things even more confusing when you're reading it.

I think the manga is catching up to this part

Idk if its a joke but the translator from arioto said hes done with it and someone else said he retired.
>>
>>3740557
Well duh, it was meatbun who was translating it, then this retard came asking to translate the series, turns out he takes months to translate a single chapter and only came back because people starte bothering him.
>>
>>3740557
>>3740560
Are the translations any good or is it worth going back to fix them?
>>
>>3740571
From what I have read here it was pretty bad, but people had issues with Meatbun's translations too.
>>
>>3740571
Honestly, the translations from hyou (the last guy) are quite awful. I think DeepL would have done a better job.
>>
>>3740581
Not that Meatbuns were any better to be fair.

>>3740600
That might be right, I honestly don't remember

And I'm finally up to date with Hikikomari.
I can't believe Komari is fucking dead.
Volume 8 has been another nicely gay volume focused on Komari's jealousy for Vil.
A negative point was Vil blushing to her adoptive father. It was because she was embarassed to be seen by him acting pervertedly towards Komari but the scene was highly exaggerated.

I've also read the first volume of the manga. It's a faithfull adaption with great art that covers the first half of the first volume of the LN and it's nice it toned down the disgusting scenes.
There is an extra LN chapter written by the author but it's just Komari dealing with her unit.

I swear Arioto and Watanare are cursed. I'll just wait for 7seas to pick up both and catch up, miss me with all that internet translator drama nonsense.
>>
>>3740958
Did they 7seas express interest?
>>
>>3740958
Is there even any hope for Arioto? I was under the impression that middle schoolers having sexual relations with adults is a no-go in burgerland.
>>
the virgin 'license Arioto' vs the chad 'license Watching a Yuri Couple as a Houseplant'

>implaying there is no translation drama with english publishers among butchered text, memes, localization and their agenda pushed in the made up translations
>>
Seven Seas already picked Watanare and well... every single thing that could go wrong for them happened on the next week, I don't think they will make it to the release of V1.
>>
People really be waiting for translations for Yuri lol
If you put your mind to it, you'll have learned Japanese well enough to read WataNare and AriOto long before any sort of official translation

There will be a Lycoris Recoil tie-in novel releasing in September.

Also, does anyone know what happened to Tsuzuri’s release calendar?

My issue with japanese is that all guides are trash, just give me the optimal way to do it and what online free software you need to do it.
>>
>>3741039
I sometimes wonder if the people who say this are the same type of people who end up tling for 7S. Unless you’ve got a /lot/ of free time and you’re of a specific disposition you’ll be really muddling your way through shit, which just isn’t fun.
>>

>wasting your time learning a dead language
No thanks. Google botnet will figure out a reliable kanji translation in the next 10-20 years.
>>
>>3741114
Japan will most likely be destroyed by the upcoming China war in the next 5 though
>>
>>3741039
I try, but I always forget to read or I'm too lazy to read my Anki deck. If you have any ideas on how to stop procrastination, I'll take it.
>>
>>3741116
That will only be the end of normie Japanese, not animu japanese though.

Learning japanese is not as difficult as they (who?) want you to believe.
And if you're watching anime and other japanese media for like 10+ years I don't believe you still can't understand anything, unless you're always reading subs without giving a fuck about the dub.
If you're really interested in how to do it and are not saying it just to say:
>learn hiragana and katakana
There is no trick here, you'll have to memorize those 100 symbols, like you have 26 letters memorized, you can find the tables on wiki.
>learn grammar rules
Any site is fine, search for japanese lessons on google. In particular you must learn the particles and conjugations of adjectives and verbs. It's not difficult since there are specific rules and only two irregular verbs, english has a lot more.
>kanji
This is the difficult part because there are thousands of them. However nowadays there are programs like Kanjitomo that can give you the translation even from images. The more you'll read the more you'll remember them and won't need programs as much as before.
It's a lot more difficult to write, but it's quite easy to read them. Jisho.org is also very useful since you can search kanji by radicals and use it as a dictionary.
>watch stuff without subs
This helps a lot, rewatch your favourite series with the subs turned off and pay attention to the dub. Then read raws of your favourite manga. There are series with furigana (hiragana over the kanji so you can read even if you don't know the kanji).
You can spend maybe a couple of hours a week to study the rules and then just read/watch yuri stuff. If you really want you can do it.
>>
>>3741041
I was wondering the same yesterday. Maybe there isn't any release in July?

>百合好きの間で注目されているアニメ
So there isn't anything saying that novel will be yuri, right? Since the first ep had nothing.
>>
>>3741128
>And if you're watching anime and other japanese media for like 10+ years I don't believe you still can't understand anything
>unironically saying "you can learn japanese by watching anime"
Stopped reading right there. Go outside and touch grass, weeb. You have no idea how the actual language works.
>>
>>3741134
That's not what I said.
I said it's impossible to watch stuff in a certain language for 10+ years and being completely unfamiliar with it. You can't learn it without studying the grammar, but it helps with the lexicon. Single words and terms.
Once you'll have the basis, like being able to recognize the subject and the verb, you'll be able to actually understand the simplest phrases when watching an anime.

>You have no idea how the actual language works
And here I am, 11 years after I started studying japanese for the only purpose of reading yuri, being perfectly able to read novels without problems.
But you can keep doing nothing for years and years to come, believing only superior minds that spend hours on school books everyday can possibly learn a new language. Not my problem.
>>
>>3741191
You don't even realize how silly you sound, it's actually pretty funny.
>it only takes 11 years of studying to be able to consume a small % of exclusive content for one of your hobbies! why won't you do it?!
Geez, I don't know. You make it sound so convincing after all.
>>
>>3741193
I didn't study for 11 years. One year after I started I was already able to read Yuru Yuri. Obviously novels took some more years but we're talking about studying grammar a couple of hours one day a week while I was working during the week and then spend all the free time hearing japanese. Anime, drama cd (I used to listen to SonoHana's drama cd even before I could understand what was going on), tv bangumi (for yuribaiting idols, this helped a lot because, since they aren't reading from a script, it gives you the idea of a real talk), music, etc... Nowadays there are yuribaiting vtubers too. Basically hearing japanese more than your own language.
You can learn it if you want to read/watch every yuri you want. But if you prefer to "touch grass", you do it, everyone has their hobbies.
>>
>>3741044
>learn kana
>finish Tae Kim
>read a lot
It's easy.
>>
>>3741128
I’ve literally ended up studying Japanese in university because I started learning it to read gay chinese cartoons and that’s why I always think anons should take this ‘just do x right now and within an amount of time you’ll be reading lns just like me!’ with a grain of salt. Most people, myself included these days, want our leisure time to actually be, y’know, leisurely, because we’re stressed tf out of our minds a lot of the time and launching into learning one of the most convoluted languages on the planet from a writing point of view isn’t necessarily fun. It’s honestly imo akin to the people who run ultra marathons recreationally, except for your brain.

I’m also not saying people should never learn Japanese, just saying it’s not a panacea for all anons ills the way some people throw the suggestion around here.
>>
>>3741285
>one of the most convoluted languages on the planet from a writing point of view
True, but if your goal is to read yuri there is no need to learn how to write. Even if you don't know to write 憂鬱 and 薔薇 you can read them just fine.
>>
Learning languages has well-known cognitive benefits, so at the least it could help people understand that MTL is not a viable substitute for anything
>>
>>3741424
Yeah it was late and I threw writing in there when I think I actually meant written language. Learning to read kanji is still a somewhat punishing time sink, but it’s nothing on par with having to actually learn to write them. (Which I have had to do for uni and it kills me.)
>>
>>3741433
>well-known cognitive benefits
>doubt
I speak 3 languages, then why do I have social anxiety and can't talk to p-people without stuttering?
>>
>>3741541
Contrary to popular belief, stuttering isn't reflective of one's cognitive ability.
>>
>>3741571
>considering stuttering as the literal illness and not a weaker side effect of the anxiety
You know what I mean, stop playing the fool.

Novice Alchemist Vol.6 coming in September. Haven’t heard anything about it for a while. I seem to remember talk of the protagonist marrying another girl.
>>
>>3741746
Yeah, I was the one who asked about it, that what they told me, but they said it was marriage for bussiness reasons or something like this, which makes sense in how the plot is about similar stuff
