Anime adaptation was announced. I'm not holding out hope that Sensei will be written out like the Commander in Azur Lane. Sensei is pretty much baked into all of the stories and their direct intervention is usually what resolves a lot of conflict.Also have little hope for a female Sensei.Best I can hope for is maybe an adaptation of Eden Treaty, which focuses mostly on Hifumi and Azusa and Sensei doesn't really to all that much. Guessing it will be about Abydos, though, where Sensei is very much positioned as the girls' savior..

For the Abydos chapter, you can either make the girls more proactive (buff Ayane's strategist skill) or let a student from another school fill in sensei's shoes - for example find a reason to be there for Hina (already part of the story anyway) or Himari (interested in Binah becuase of Decagrammaton). For Eden, like you said, the role isn't all that big. For gamedev club there's very little reason for sensei to be there, the story works literally the same without him. The rabbits story I haven't read yet, so no idea.If they do plan to go all the way to what they call right now the "final chapter" then sensei and his connection to GSC president is unfortunately integral unless they heavily rewrite lore.Realistically though, I doubt they'll throw out sensei because they heavily push the self-insert angle, show (male) sensei in other media, and too many players are invested into the sensei thing by now. So my /u/ hopes here are abysmally low.

Hifumi can perfectly fill the role of the protagonist, she's "a normal highschool girl" at first glance an unremarkable plain person, so she's perfect to have everything revolve around her, a lot of things Sensei did in the chapter can be given to her and it makes for a more compelling story instead of having 2 characters with similar roles.The only way Sensei could be a character is if was created purposelly the opposite of how a self-insert is, and japan knows it's impossible or at least very very hard to do that with males, they would have to get someone like Mamoru Miyano and go on the complete opposite direction, which would take focus away from the girls so the only choices are a simple female sensei or no sensei at all.
