Signalis thread.
I'm shocked it took this long for someone to make a dedicated Signalis thread.
>>3879205I was surprised too.
>>3879205It was getting a lot of good mileage in the game thread, but yeah it could probably sustain one good thread.
Is this game worth playing if I have no patience to sit down for more than 3 minutes without shooting at anything or beat a 2+ hour game?
Finally, a SIGNALIS thread. What a great game, I should get on with getting the secret ending.
>>3879025The name goes in the subject field, retard.
>>3879316If you don't have the patience, probably not. You might try it and just get a refund on Steam if you can't get into it.
>>3879582is this game depressing
>>3879583Yes.
I would pay triple-A prices for these devs, including artists, to make a /u/ related Blame! game.
Let's live it up a bit. Is there some kind of consensus about what the fuck is happening in Signalis? I do have some theories/bits of information that look like they are established and solid, but I never discussed it online and don't know if someone smart figured everything out. And no, "it's all a dream" theory sucks ass.
>>3881787I'm not really sure, I interpreted it as Ariane having a fever dream while dying from radiation sickness after being sent on a pointless suicide mission with Elster in a space ship, but her psychic abilities making it "real" I haven't gotten the real ending yet, just the bad one so far so I don't even have the full picture so I'm probably wrong.
>>3881787Pain induced bioresonant event. Arianne can effect the world with her brain to some extent, and the pain of dying allowed this effect to become more powerful. So I think she is struggling with herself and wants Elster to save her, so she makes it a reality in some twisted way. I am pretty positive she is still alive in all of the endings.
>>3879025There's a dreadful lack of video games where yuri is a core aspect of the game and it's not just a visual novel, so I'm grateful this exists.
>>3881873So, why wasn't Arianne on Penrose, when Elster woke up? Is she the one who loop the world? Why Elster is the only one who "leave a trace" between loops? I mean, piles of corpses and all that. Why does Elster start at the highest level of Sierpinski fascility if the crash landing is literally on the opposite side of that moon?
Unfortunately, I didn't read many files and watched the endings on youtube and my mind is crowded with different opinions on the endings - I subscribed to the Arianne is dying, very, very slowly and painfully, so she is calling all Replikas in the galaxy to help her killing her, we play some of the Elster Replika units, driven by the memory of her lover (don't know if the original Elster was in love with Arianna herself or with the redhaired Elster unit from the picture and arianna is just using this memory to drive her - similar to Isa being driven to find her sister)... those who fail (when we die) are the corpses along the way and then we come across 4 endings - 3 of them canon, either failing and becoming one of the corpses at the end, semi-failing and reaching Arianne but not "fulfilling the promise" and just chilling with her and slowly dying (leaving arianne alive) and semi-winning, actually killing her and dying together. The secret ending is very cryptic, some sort of a ritual, where the Elster unit takes charge of the cycles and relives the happy memories until eternity - can be interpreted as happy end in my opinion, even though some corruption is shown Nonetheless it seems to be deliberately obscure with the whole concept of cycles and bioresonant realities. I think this makes it so interesting.
>>3879262The final unresolved mystery of Signalis: was Isa a siscon?
>>3884131yes
Happy there's a Signalis thread. I also hope that most of the events in the game were real. I don't like "it was a dream" type stories. I wish there was a super alternate universe where Elster and Ariane and all the Itous are having a peaceful time together instead of the endless suffering.I guess it just goes to show that yuri has an affinity for suffering. I haven't completed the secret ending yet, only got one ending so far. The one where Elster can't follow through on her promise and leaves the ship. I don't usually play horror games so my excuse is that I was too cautious.
The esthetics give me a string Blame! vibes.
>>3881787Dreams within dreams. The only moment that can truly be seen as reality is the opening of the game before the elster passes through the gate.
>>3882401I personally think Arianne is long dead, and the 'Arianne' that Elster meets in all the endings is actually Alina, who's been turned into an Arianne replacement, which explains how she can be awake in the endings and not fucking bald, toothless and dying at the end while sporting the same band-aids she had all over herself when she was in Leng and Nowhere. This also would explain why if Elster progressed too fast and didn't die (and thus awaiting another iteration of Elster to arrive) and reached the Memory ending, Alina hasn't completed her transformation into Arianne, hence not recognizing Marianne's name when Elster calls her, while in Promise, she's had enough time to be assimilated into Arianne's persona and thus remembers.
>>3885980Isn't Elster's original gestalt Isa's mother or aunt or something?
>>3886310You. I like you. Finally someone who says something interesting. Signalis is great but I hate how it doesn't answer questions, the most it gives is "maybe your theory is right. And yes,"muh dream" is bullshit.
>>3886244Gay sex jumpscare.
>>3886313presumably, but they don't know that
>>3886400The best kind of jumpscare.
I had a dream last night where Elster was in a Wal-Mart parking, she was wearing a cute light orange sweater and laughing her head off like she heard the funniest joke in the world. A pair of other androids who she was friends with were approaching her but she had no time for them and ran to the other end of the parking lot to her car where she popped the trunk open to find a few mechanical pencil leads and the lower half of another orange sweater. She smiled to herself and sat down to knit the rest of the sweater to give as a gift to Ariane on their next date, then I woke up.Thank you for reading my blog.
>>3887017Make it a full fic and put it up on Ao3. Do it.
I keep thinking about this game here and there and I wish Elster could be happy. FUCK
>>3887760That's what the Ritual ending is for, nee-chan. It's the one ending where she and Ariane can finally be together. Also, do I detect a potential sequel hook with the Ritual ending? The artifact, which isn't even mentioned in the game and isn't seen until you get the ending, could play a part in a much bigger story.
>>3887867The Ritual ending is a nod to a short story in "The King in Yellow", where a dude discovers a liquid that turns everything into marble - the first thing he uses, was a lily (familiar?) - later his dying girlfriend bathes in the liquid to turn herself into marble, everyone thinking she's dead - when in fact it preserved her (kinda similar to Arianne in the tank). In the end the girl came back to life as she were. Which for me implied that the Lily-Ending or Ritual-Ending is a good ending.
I love it when items or equipment add to a game's yuri factor.
any other games/manga/hentai like this? its such a pure robolove
this game feels like va11halla, at least with how it's received if that makes sense. might just be because of the artstyle
>>3889531There's Koukaku no Pandora and Tonari no Robot for robolove, also "Does It Count if Your First Time Is With an Android?" for something more lewd. Kimi to Sekai no Owari wo Tazunete seems like it has potential but there's not much out. It gets harder to find something that combines the atmosphere presented in Signalis that also has robot yuri. There's some oneshots that have suffering like The Promise I Made to Eve but it's not quite the same thing. There's Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Blame! which are some obvious non-yuri inspirations for this game.
>>3889617thanks for the list anon!
>>3889533>anime aesthetic game made outside of Japan with a cult followingI can see it that way I suppose. Some crossover art would be cool.
6 hours into this, looks like I still have a long way to go. I like it, almost got filtered on the first boss fightMy only other survival horror game is RE4 and that game is a cakewalk compared to this with you essentially never running out of bullets if you have decent aim.
>>3889533closest manga by plot I can think of is "Suicide Parabellum". No robots tho.
>>3890594ack, meant >>3889531

>>3893089So does Falke represent the culmination of Arianne and Elster's love? Isn't she a bit of both of them?
>>3894600She's like the culmination of Elster's insecurities and doubts, the last roadblock Elster has to overcome before fulfilling (or trying to fulfill) the promise. She gets mindfucked and has Elster's feelings flooding into her head, but she doesn't have the full picture and authentic experience of that love which is why I think she sounds so paranoid and doubtful when confronted. Kind of a neat alternative to there being some kind of Elster mirror-match although I gotta feel sorry for Falke getting caught up in all this.
>>3894600It seems like Falke represents Eslster's fear that Ariane no longer loves her or won't forgive her for being unable to fulfill her promise. >>3895010>get mindfucked and find yourself slowly turned into someone else>have someone elses memories intertwined with your owndesu from his perspective Adler seems justified in the actions he takes throughout the story.
Nice thread.
>>3893102Is Elster really fingering Arianne or is she actually fingering Alina here?
>>3886244>>3886400Extremely checked.
Just beaten this game on Survival a second time, died nearly thirty times but I got the keys to get both the Artifact ending and the Promise.I think I understand what's going on, and I love it... But what actually was the artifact in the ritual? I understand the purpose of the white lilies (The King in Yellow), but what was actually happening there? Something to do with the red eye changing things maybe? Is it a happier ending, or is it letting go? I'm too smooth brained, but I love it nonetheless.
>>3905820I do think it's the happiest ending possible. With the King in Yellow references in mind it seems Elster was able to suspend Ariane and herself in their happiest moments (the dancing), in some kind of stasis/purgatory-like state. Perhaps the artifact was some kind of control/manipulation device for the red eye, but there's tons of other speculations on that so there's no clear cut answer there.

>>3908846That was really damn good. This series has been blessed with quality fan content.

>>3886244i should make an updated version of this now that the spatz update actually changed the cutscene.
>>3914082What did it change?
>>3914083nothing much, just removed Ariane's weird bitcrushed ear and gave her short hair in the B&W cutscene still. she's cute with short hair as an aside.i still have the project files for this but i'm away from that computer rn so it will have to wait.
