Not very often but that's mostly my fault. I don't play enough games to realize there are some good ones out there. I tried Hollow Knight out on a whim and it was my favorite game of last year. I really should just start browsing steam and look for obscure but highly related titles that aren't produced by AAA companies.

Witcher 3 after Blood and Wine
Also Dragon Quest 8

Anon, the cosmic horror is confirmed in the first couple hours if you find a Madman's Knowledge and read it. I fucking hate this meme about Bloodborne doing a slow reveal or trying to aim towards some sort of "revelation".

I really hope Kam and Hashi return together for Bayo 3. If we can get the combat depth of Bayo 1 with the streamlining of Bayo 2 it would easily make my top 3. Then all we need is for Capcom not to fuck up DMC5 and cuhrayzee's back on the menu. RIP Mikami, RIP Itagaki.

I remember being absolutely livid when I finished Bioshock Infinite. I rarely get emotional, especially at a video game, but Infinite really reeled me in for some reason. The atmosphere at first was just intoxicating and I ended up binge-playing it over a weekend. I knew it had it's flaws but I maintained that it would all be worth it in the end. By the time I reach that point, I couldn't believe it. They just wrapped it all up with 'it's science, but it's so far over your head that we aint gotta explain shit.'

Maybe. I don't know how jazzed Kamiya would actually be for that. He seems to like to move on after a project and to be completely honest, I think he'd be happier doing TW102 than B3. I feel your sentiment though, the best of both B1/B2 would be ideal.
> Then all we need is for Capcom not to fuck up DMC5
All it needs to be is DMC4SE with some changes/tweaks. They can do it. I actually have faith. RE7 and MHW were great. SFV is great. Modern Capcom has got it again.

>Me after finishing Planescape: Torment

>>413471265
>cosmic
Doesn't mean space. It just means "beyond earth". Cosmic Horror finds it's terror in the realization that we are insignificant specs in a vast and terrifying universe. BB has some "space" imagery and themes but it's whole twist is that nothing came from space, just from dream realms and other dimensions much closer to home than the stars.

There's even a quote in the game.
>The Choir stumbled upon an epiphany, very suddenly and quite by accident. Here we stand, feet planted in the earth, but might the cosmos be very near us, only just above our heads?"

>They look like aliens
I can understand being confused by that but later on you find evidence that they're just people who got changed.
>>
>>413471519
Well yeah obviously they would end up actually releasing a finished game instead of half a game.

Once I'm proficient enough in Japanese, I'm going to read one of Sca-Ji's other works SakuUta. I heard it's on par or even better than Subahibi. I'll also probably reread Subahibi in Japanese then.

God, I don't think any piece of art or media has moved me like Subahibi. I even started reading Philosophy so I can understand Wittgenstein.

Don't bother, SubaHibi is his absolute masterpiece and nothing else comes anywhere near close. Tsui no Sora and Terebi Kieta Hi (I think that's the name) were OK at best, and SakuUta is nothing like SubaHibi in theme or tone. Cherish the game for what it was, I've tried looking for something similar to scratch the itch for years and I can tell you there's nothing like it out there. I also bought the Tractatus after playing it, awesome book

How is Tsui no Sora? How much of it does Subahibi take from. I watched the hentai adaptation and it was... something. From what I've seen from the OVA, I think the Wittgenstein influence *might* be present in Tsui no Sora but idk. Does Tsui no Sora have Takuji's multiple personalities?

>>413472282

Kamiya says he doesn't like doing sequels, but if we really look at it it's more that he's never been allowed to. After RE2 his RE3 was cancelled then his RE4 became DMC. DMC2 was given to another team without his knowing, after VJ he had to choose between VJ2 or Okami (and obviously chose Okami), then Clover closed and Platinum happened. Bayo looked like it was never getting a sequel so he just jumped right into W101, and Bayo 2 was picked up right as he was in the middle of that. If given the chance to return to Bayo, I think he would. He probably would be happier doing W102, but that's never going to happen.

4SE still has some big problems 5 would need to address. All they really need to do is give Itsuno the budget he needs to make it what he wants it to be, and everything else will fall into place around that. The fact they've been holding back the announcement so as to not compete with World rather than just outright sabotaging it shows some growth, at least.
>>
>>413469093
i hope that when you inevitably self insert on the game you dont do it with the MC anon, you better be creating your own secondary (that goes for anime too)

I honestly couldn't figure out how these worked until I had an epiphany in like 2010.

Obviously it loads the cassette into memory to play the game. Same way a CD would with the Playstation. Seems simple now, but for a long time I marveled how they worked. Some logical leap took place where I just took floppy disks at face value but tapes 'were for music or video' because you had to rewind them.

Prince of Persia 2010. I dunno if there is ever an actual choice in the ending; but they suddenly confront you with the choice to undo everything you just did in order to save your side kick - and I hardly hesitated. I love that the only other dialgue from that point of the game is "But, why..." and then it's just an escape into a sandstorm with the girl.

Like the player, the character doesn't give a shit about the world. The only good thing in it was your side kick. Saving the side kick at the expense of the world is the obvious choice; but hits hard to put you essentially back where you started.
>>
>>413477556
It's nothing like the original series. It's more of an Eraserhead kind of thing where it's weird and uncomfortable for the sake of being weird and uncomfortable. I mean, I get that it's about subverting expectations but it's also really damn boring. I didn't like it.

Felt the exact opposite. To me she was so forced and designed by some Ubisoft committee to try and be appealing that it made her just annoying, and even if I didn't dislike her it was her goal to seal away the evil blob shit even if it meant death so undoing that to save her and fuck everything else up in the process was just nonsense. Either you care about her in which case honouring her wish should come first, or you didn't care about her in which case you don't care that she's dead anyway. Hoovered up the last collectables, asked aloud, "Was that it?" and replayed Sands of Time to refill the hollow void it left.
