Someone on /v/ recommended me pic related and I just wanted to thank that Anon. I beat it today and it was a lot of fun, so thanks wherever you are Anon!
>>724549972it wasn't me, but I was also put onto this game a while back after seeing someone post about it here.what did you play as? any favourite units?I got a lot of good use out of pirates almost the whole game
>>724550454I played as a Mage, because double casting looked fun and I'm kind of a shitter at these games so having good made it a little easier. In terms of units some amazing ones are Demon, Giant and Shaman. Shaman might be one of the rarest units in the game but his utility is insane.Hope you try it Anon, it's a LOT of fun!
>>724550454Pirates are great. I think it's the Robbers who can loot bodies after killing them and that makes a ton of extra cash. In terms of my fav units the Royal Snakes never stop kicking ass. I also loved having some Griffins because they were insanely tanky and you can just park them in front of enemy archers and watch them panic.
>>724550687oh yeah for sure.I had a playthrough with a paladin, but stupidly didn't realise I could learn spell scrolls and have them permanently. I went like 70% of the game before I found resurrection again.that and I put off the quest that unlocks the rage spirits until halfway through the islands area, so i was playing with a bit of a handicap for a bit
>>724550687>having good made*having good magic madeBrainfart.
>HOMM but no bases, no respawning troops, no resource management, no dwellings, no mines and no other enemy heroesSo it's Heroes of Might & Magic for tards?
I would also like to express my fondness for that particular game.
>>724550829Paladin is great, but I remember him having a pretty rough mid game. Mages will have learned to double cast by then, Warriors will have learned to use tactics to move their dudes up further before battle and Paladin will... be making 5% more gold?
>>724550987yes, its HOMM but with all the fun and minus the tedious bullshit
>>724551032the man never played a king's bounty in his life!
>>724550987King's Bounty is an older franchise than HOMM.
>>724549972King's Bounty is based
>>724550987>HOMM but not having to sprint back from the almost-end of the map to protect your mines because the only trick the enemy AI has is shitting out 1000 heroes
>>724551098yeah. Annoyingly I got more mileage out of the other two skill trees at least until I was able to start making inquisitors.Having reserves early was a life saver, and especially made shuffling around troops easier. Although I mostly used to it carry around massive stacks of pirates and sea dogs so i could run them in as fodder, and use the sea dog cleave attack to blow up stacks when I could
Anyone tried KB2?
>>724549972based
>>724550987Mobile game aestetic should have been enough to tell.I tried to give game a chance multiple times, but battles are so repetitive, I couldn't stomach I for long. It also has the cringes writing I ever seen, full of continental european "humor". I'm convinced the only people that like it are homm-fags who have not played it for long and nostalgic slav millennials.
>>724551940>I tried to give game a chance multiple times, but battles are so repetitivethis is understandable criticism. and there's a lot of battling.
>>724551212How is the remake on PS2?
>>724549972I've mentioned it a few times here but I always say it's bad and a waste of time, how long did it take you to beat it?
>>724549972Why is Henry Cavill there?
>>724549972Now you can enjoy the steadily declining spiral of expansions. Still good if not just more of the same, though.
You completed a no-loss run, right?Otherwise you didn't beat the game.
>>724552319only dark side was blatantly a cash-in expansion. what you want to avoid is the goddamn kb2.
>>724549972The Armored Princess campaign (with the expansions, just get Crossworlds on GOG) is the best one of the series, but you might want to wait if you're tired of the formula after beating The Legend.
>>724552603This is exactly what I'm doing right now. Beat KB1 for the first time this may, now I'm waiting until I get the itch to do it all over again with Crossworlds>>724550454Honestly I just went for units that were infinite most of the time, so I mostly ran with footmans and archers. Was playing a mage, I think in the next game I'm gonna play as warrior cause I didn't like how spell damage fell off towards the end
>>724549972I went through hundreds of pcs as part of my old job to do with debt collection. every single eastern european / polish / romanian had this game on their pc. what the fuck is going on here?
I gave armored princess a try because of the pretty girl but it wasn't very good.
>>724552957qrd what makes it worse in your opinion than The Legend?
>>724550987>no respawning troops, no resource managementKeeping your units alive is the resource management
>>724552957But AP is an objective improvement over The Legend.
>>724552319>>724552957the only true sequel
>>724553393I dunno it's the only king's bounty game I played
Since we're talking about sequels, help me with which ones are worth playing. The way I understand it:>The Legend>Crossworlds (includes AP campaign so you can skip that one)>Warriors of the North and Dark Side seem like a 50/50 split whether people like them, probably play them if you have loads of time on your hand and wanna form your own opinion
>>724554018I heard about the same, but ended up just going with The Legend first, because at least then if I like it, and play Crossworlds, I have a baseline for what has changed.
>>724554289I doubt you'll notice the unit changes, unless you memorized exactly how much damage swordsmen do
>>724550987let me guess. you are a 3 shitter. that means nothing you posted matters besides the last point even in your game.
>>724554018It has been a long fucking while since I played either of the last two. They really don't hold up to AP/Crossworlds but worth a pirate if you want more King's Bounty and go in expecting that.Warriors of the North I want to like but holy shit does it get fucking tiresome when you only really have access to one race (and granted, Vikings are a new addition and have some good units) and spend most of your time fighting undead for hours on end. I tend to drop it when you return to the kingdom from The Legend and would you look at that, more fucking undead. Can't comment on the DLC but it seems to be a Crossworlds type of deal where it adds more content to Warriors. Dark Side I played once years ago, I recall it being pretty goddamn boring (mainly due to there being fuckall combat) but with an interesting premise, be a bad guy and corrupt the other nations through subterfuge. I got to the point where I had access to evil dorfs when I dropped, and I'd love to know if it remembers that it was supposed to be a King's Bounty game after that point.
>>724549972>this phone tier mom game where you wonder around a map smashing bigger numbers is funRetard alert
>>724555434>mainly due to there being fuckall combat>be a bad guy and corrupt the other nations through subterfugeWould you mind elaborating a bit on that? I haven't read that Dark Side is like that and I'm struggling to imagine how you fit the KB system into a less combat-oriented game. Do you just run from NPC to NPC to read dialogue?
>>724555578>Do you just run from NPC to NPC to read dialogue?IIRC it was a mix of that and combat that actually tied into the corruption shtick where you kill important niggas or ones guarding important shit. I honestly need to give that one another shot (especially after 2) but I kinda have better things on the backburner than a game that I mainly remember being boring.
Has anyone tried the Saturation Mod for Darkside?, does it turn it into a good game?
>>724553945Fair enough.
