>>725804240The whole point of the steam machine is to play "all steam titels", but old games were NOT made with SteamOS in mind. They were made for Windows 95, 98, XP; Vista, 7, 8 and so on. The compatibility issues with older games is still a very important point, and we don't know if we can play them with no hassle at all. Also the SteamOS doesn't support kernel based anti cheat. So you can't play Fortnite, Battlefield 6, Call of Duty or GTA online with the "console" like SteamOS. And the moment you install Windows on this thing, it becomes an office device (PC) with all the headaches included, and is not a console-like experience anymore. So the Steam machine has many flaws and the 8GB of VRAM is also outdated on PC for over 2 years now. Its far away from "powerful PC gaming" as the promo says here. Digital Foundry said that the performance is "slightly better than Xbox Series S". And that console is over 5 years old already. So its more like an entry level low-end experience for people who can not decide whether they want a PC or a console. Personally I would never buy this thing, I have a PS5 Pro and the games look and run much better on it than on this "new" device.
