I played through with the warrior guy and my advice would be to not do that. General consensus is that magic is busted but you know how that is, people usually mean like one specific spell you get under specific conditions and the rest suck.
Archer class is usually a safe pick for Diablo clones, rare that doesn't just nuke.

After you clear out the dungeon underneath the starter town, game will blueball you hard by taking away the only shop keeper you had by killing him off forcing you to either drop shit or be more picky with the loot you pick up until you find the location of the new shopkeeper. The only other shopkeeper is in another town that you won't have any idea of the location of. It's really fucking shitty. I recommend you just look up location of the other shop keeper once you get to that moment and bee line straight to him ignoring everything around until you can finally unload your loot. It's pretty fucked up.

I went with a necromancer build and was disappointed to discover that your skellingtons don't follow you so you have to re-summon them if you encounter something far enough away. That said I probably would have finished it if I hadn't softlocked myself. Recommended.
