Quite the airhead, this Alice. I only start started and she has already done this three times. Once with her cat, the second time with her neighbors dog and then her cat again.

Alice is the silliest of little girls. The whole scene at the beginning with the key and the small door where she's too busy thinking of how she should apologize to her feet by sending them boots every Christmas to actually focus on her objective is peak Alice.

I read this one essay about how Alice in about this cycle of predators and prey, with Alice being the predator. Didn't strike me as interesting as the mathematics theory, but if this passage stood out to you it might be worth checking out.

You are brave and strong, your soul more tenacious than you may think.
No matter what fear or malice comes for you, it cannot kill you.
Your conviction is true, and as long as you don't give up it will sweep away any fog of nightmares and give you the power to keep advancing.
...However, if you find yourself tired, there's nothing wrong with seeking solace in the embraces of the heroines.
Rest your feet for now, and one day you will conquer any challenge before you, that is what I believe.

Berlin Alexanderplatz, very underrated. What I like is how it uses modernist experimentation, but doesn't sacrifice emotional stakes in the process, the ending hits HARD.
The protagonist also has some funny parallels with Grimm like meeting the sister of his ex-gf (whom he killed), mistaking her for the ex-gf and raping her. Right after getting out of prison.

Finally finished DLC3, still a couple of more achievos to get and the other half of Winterbell to do (I picked the lion first), some NPC quests and a LOT of raping. I'll do the rest over the weekend but I pretty much spent everyday this week playing until 1am as a wagie. DLC3 really did bring the whole thing together.

Not much I want to blogpost that other people havent already. Probably one of the best recent gaming experiences I've had, Baldr Sky will still be the peak though and I also didnt really like all the jumpscares in the last parts. I did grind out the challenge out of DLC3 by hanging out in the Chaos Dungeon a bit too long. I dont know what half of the phases of GG even do, I just know Black Slash goes brrrr after phase 2.

I do one one lore question though related to the ending. So the Alice that saves us is Prickett and Prickett is I think some part of TCO thats actually not evil, maybe the part that actually developed into something that could understand love. But the interaction at the end between Grimm and Prickett has that line that says he'll return for her "And we’ll reunite as lovers once more". Is that Caroll-Grimm speaking to Alice cause the Alice we've been chasing was just TCO messing with us? I guess in Ending H Alice's Soul is still trapped in there? I'm not a very smart person so bear with me here

The timeline goes like this. Alice Hargreaves makes a wish and it reaches TCO (Nyarlathotep), which causes it to kidnap both Alice and Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll). Once it does, it sends a fragment of itself (Alice-01) to keep reenacting the events of the book together with Charles. There, Alice-01 fell in love with Charles. That's the original tea party the movie in Queensland talks about. But because:
>Charles himself made a wish back on Earth, which reached Mary Sue
>Alice-01 made a fatal wish which allowed Mary Sue in (Prayer Master is a red herring and didn't influence Mary Sue entering)
Mary Sue goes in, steals Charles, mindbreaks him (the DLC3 VN scene is Grand Guignol reenacting Mary's original mindbreak) and puts him inside the Grimm amalgam. Then, she explodes Alice-01 right in front of Grimm's eyes at the beginning of BS1. Of course, TCO can't really die so Alice-01 is later punished by the main body by making her become Prickett.
Back to BS1. TCO has been receiving feedback from Alice-01 and grew addicted to human love, the endless Alice chase. So when Charles got stolen, it got furious. It breaks into Mary's Garden with the help of Baphomet and Grimm (ending D), steals Grimm away, imprisons Mary and begins its own tea party, a fucked up Alice in Wonderland reenaction where Grimm fucks his niggermen daughters to produce more daughters he'll fuck for the upcoming war

>So the Alice that saves us is Prickett and Prickett is I think some part of TCO thats actually not evil, maybe the part that actually developed into something that could understand love.
Yes, the Alice there is Prickett, if you go into the ending without having Prickett's ring at all it cuts short much like how Leaf's ring extends the character endings in BS1, and you can see Prickett's silhouette calling out (You)r name before it cuts out, but the deal with the player name in the series is a whole other fucking can of worms entirely.
Prickett was the one that played the role of Alice back during the Tea Party (referred to as Alice 01 by some) and was the Alice at the start of BS1, and as such is the part of TCO that understands love the most due to her own personal experiences with it. The rest of the TCO hivemind doesn't seem to have this same luxury, apparently sharing the feelings that Prickett had experienced but not the understanding surrounding them.

>Is that Caroll-Grimm speaking to Alice cause the Alice we've been chasing was just TCO messing with us? I guess in Ending H Alice's Soul is still trapped in there?
Open to interpretation. My interpretation is that Lewis is gone from the collective in the scene we see there due to timeline bullshit, with that scene there taking place in a merged post-G timeline, and with Lewis and Alice's souls having returned to reality thanks to the aforementioned events of G. Timeline merging is also a bit of a fucking mess to explain though, just understand that it's what happened when you tried to leave the garden in G and spontaneously appeared back inside of the garden.

The upcoming niggerman war is covered in detail in a loredump by Yog-Sothoth (Mabel) in the Chaos Dungeon lore dump.
Back to BS2. TCO's play has been going on for at least 63 cycles (we're on cycle 64 when we start BS2 IIRC). In the meantime, TCO went insane and lost itself in the role of Alice, and this caused many niggermen (like older sister Alice, one of the 4 nightmares hastily replaced by Lorina). The cycles kept deteriorating until Prickett, Mabel and Node concocted a plan to get Grimm out. In Ending G, Charles finally reunites with real Alice's soul, we see his soul leave Grimm's body, but he has an additional shackle placed on him in the form of Grand Guignol, who can just reset the timeline if Grimm escapes. So we start DLC3, where Grimm escapes through a different Garden (Crimean Nursing Graveyard), beats GG and finally escapes with the help of Prickett. I'm unsure if there's a timeline merge (a term used by Mabel after the VN) here, meaning that Alice Hargreaves and Lewis Carroll are free like after ending G, or if he's still stuck with Grimm.

Note that some of the stuff I said is speculative and contentious, in particular the Lewis-Grimm order. Some lorefags and the Japs believe that it was Grimm who was in the original tea party with Alice-01, but I have no idea how that's meant to work timeline-wise.

I think DLC3 having "Alice" dialog options is meant to show that Carroll is still there.

>Alice Hargreaves makes a wish and it reaches TCO (Nyarlathotep)
Alice in G says she was just sleeping, we never see her make a wish in the memory flame or hear her mention making one in G.
>(Prayer Master is a red herring and didn't influence Mary Sue entering)
Every source we have across both games points out his involvement in it, including him. The most you can say is that Prickett also shares in the blame, not that she's solely responsible.
>Of course, TCO can't really die
TCO can die, almost every niggerman can die hence why Mabel is wanting Grimm to revive some of her niggermen in the future. We do actually kill it in G's timeline, it just doesn't stick thanks to GG's bullshit yanking us into a timeline where G never occurs.
>and begins its own tea party, a fucked up Alice in Wonderland reenaction where Grimm fucks his niggermen daughters to produce more daughters he'll fuck for the upcoming war
Yes, but it's pretty important to note that for TCO the war isn't something they actually care about, they were just using Grimm as the carrot on the stick to draw other niggermen to take part in TCO's endless love play.
>>727582160
>In the meantime, TCO went insane and lost itself in the role of Alice
TCO's still in full Alice mode for BS1, I think it's fair to assume that they were already more than lost in the role by then.
>but he has an additional shackle placed on him in the form of Grand Guignol, who can just reset the timeline if Grimm escapes
It's more of a secondary effect of Grimm having a soul bond with GG that causes his ass to be tossed into another garden timeline than anything GG actively does on its own part, Grimm cannot leave the garden where the Power to Change resides in without it.

>I think DLC3 having "Alice" dialog options is meant to show that Carroll is still there.
Lewis is present during the main part of DLC 3, but 99% of DLC 3 also takes place in the "distant" past according to the Chaos Dungeon. It's the bit after GG that's up for debate, as you have a post-G Red holding onto Grimm with one arm on the cliff, and post-G Jabber/Jubjub/Bander in their Alice vessels.
>>727582595
>the fact you can do ending G again and see him walk off with Alice a second time means he's stuck as long as Grimm is
Not quite. Red is a good example to use as a comparison here, because even though her "canon" pre-H ending for BS2 is her being outside in reality thanks to the events of G (and thus she never actually enters Wonderland beyond the Little Girl's Nightmare), the in-garden timelines don't seem to care about this as long as the garden is still standing and the cycles are ongoing. By the time we meet Red in Lutwidge on a normal cycle, G has already transpired in another timeline and Red is outside of the garden, yet the Red inside of the garden doesn't disappear at all, in fact she's present for the entire game, all thanks to the cycle point being set to a time where she's already present inside of the garden. BS1 operated similarly with Red's personal ending resulting in her leaving the garden and how she'd suddenly vanish after summoning her for BS1 D's fight with Shub, along with her having no apparent knowledge of D. Likewise BS2 Red should have no knowledge of anything but G (and later H) despite being present inside of the garden in non-G timelines.
I believe Lewis's outcome in H hinges on him being intrinsically linked to Grimm's soul in a manner like Grimm is to GG, or not. Given we know the author souls are due to break free when Grimm's vessel shatters and what happens in G I'm inclined to believe he's not.

Hopefully this makes any sense at all.

I take it as literal, yes. I believe that Alice was stargazing and ended up falling asleep shortly before shit went down. I feel like if Alice had made a wish then EMMM would have made it amply clear given how many opportunities he has had to do so and with how many others have done so in the series.
>IIRC TCO was still relatively clear in its speech in ending D, while by the time BS2 ends it's a bumbling mess. But I haven't played the game in years, so I might be misremembering stuff.
TCO's actually quite coherent in the reverse route before you deny it and then fight it. TCO's also fairly coherent in BS1 D too, it's not all SENspeak and blackface all of the time.
>What caused TCO to start the original tea party?
Prickett calls it simple curiosity while observing, a flight of fancy. Jabber also says she played Cupid between (You) and Alice, which admittedly is a statement open to some interpretation especially given the circumstances surrounding TCO's bloody fall to the Earth and Jabber's own little rape dungeon. I don't know if I'd call it a very good explanation necessarily, but it is an explanation all of the same, coming from people who were there.

Q:アリスの外見を作ったのはリィフ?
Was it Leaf who created Alice's appearance?

A:真似たのはリィフだよ。彼女はあくまでメアリィ・スー。二次創作しかできない
It was Leaf who imitated her. She is Mary Sue after all. I can only create derivative works.

MTL butchery aside, keep in mind how the tea party ended. Prickett ends up splatted. Mary recreates the vessel for Prickett to act in for the start of BS1 before recreating the end of the tea party because the original vessel got fucked. Prickett's soul still exists post-splat, which is important. Like EMMM mentions, Alice isn't an original design of Mary's, she just imitated the original design for use in her own play.
Also, hollow puppets cannot perform, they need souls to properly act out their roles, hence why Mary and TCO both use actual fuckers with souls to act out roles in their plays, from the major ones to even the minor ones like the fairies in BS1. We never see actors substituted by puppets either. It's also exceedingly unlikely that Mary pulled anything with 01 like she did with BS1 Victoria either, BS1 Victoria has an entire area dedicated to that fact along with multiple bits of dialogue referencing what happened in both BS1 and BS2 while 01 has absolutely nothing pointing to something like this happening in either game.
There's also no reason for GG itself to cite 01 as one of her creators if 01 did not actually exist or was just a creation of Mary's, and saying it was a lie or just bait does not pass the smell test.

It builds up one stack per turn if you attack with it that turn, and no you can't build multiple stacks in one turn no matter how many bonus actions you're rocking. It's mainly useful if you're a complete statlet and have the time to burn to build up stacks, otherwise you're better off with Hans most of the time as it has a higher hit count and doesn't need to ramp up at all.

I should start mentioning skills too, because I seriously hope this isn't your actual gameplan for the end of DLC 3. The VN was always just puppets, even when Mary Sue and the Bluebirds were originally torturing Lewis it was just puppets, there were no actual actors there that we know of performing any actual roles. Fuck, they even shoved Lewis into a puppet, fucker still has trauma over that. It's a very limited and very tightly controlled setup where there is no need for actors or acting, unlike a formal play like BS1 or BS2 where you do actually need fucking actors. The opening of BS1 is no exception to this, it is the very start of Mary Sue's play.
>They need souls to have a will, to act on their own, to not be boring. Creators are capable of making automatons that can only repeat what they were designed to do.
Is the scene where you input Grimm's name at the start of BS1 not a dead giveaway that it's not a mindless puppet blankly repeating whatever Mary Sue wrote? Grimm isn't supposed to remember his name here, he's supposed to have had his memories altered by Mary Sue and say some other bumfuck name. Alice reacts to this and mentions how he remembered, starts to say something about herself before Mary splats her, followed by Mary wondering how the fuck the memory alteration failed before trying again. That's not according to script at all and I'm sure as shit that Mary didn't add this bit in as part of some intentional design in case shit went off script considering she redoes the entire setup again to try to make sure the play goes off right this time.
The non-Grimm name variant also ends with Alice explicitly talking about how her part is over, and how you'll meet again, and it's sure as shit not her that you meet in Wonderland later on as that's 02. There is no fucking chance that this is not Prickett playing the role of Alice here at the start of BS1.

>Alice
Alice Liddell (real)'s soul presumably leaves the garden due to the events of G. Even if she somehow doesn't leave in G, there's nothing that should be containing her soul in H with the complete destruction of GG and the garden, so it should still work its way back to her original body unless it somehow died during all of the chaos, in which case it'd return back to the cosmos. We see very little of her directly in BS2, it's primarily from the memory flames and meeting her in the white space in G.
>the original soul
Not sure who you mean by this.
>01, 02
Pairing these together, 01 is said by 02-A in BS1 to have been the first Alice that we met, to have made 02 before her death, and that 01 was the original Alice. BS2 expands on this with a line from the Alice Doll in Oxward about how 01 created it, this ties in with multiple lines of dialogue throughout the rest of the game and DLCs, and culminates in Prickett = Red Queen (which we know from Prickett stating it herself) = 01 due to the Alice Doll (02-D) actually being Grand Guignol in doll form, and the Chaos Dungeon specifying that GG was created by the Red and White Queens (Prickett and Node respectively).

thanks for the responses I'm just wondering in theoretical BS3 situation in which Grimm does come back in full force to rescue Alice, what exactly is our motivation for Alice, followng that line I mentioned in ending H?

Just Grimm + Alice01 that fell in love with eachother if we can hope that Carol and Alice got their happily ever after? It feels very slay the princess esque in that way and I can just leave it at that.

Yeah the practical distinction between Alice Liddell (real, that got sucked into gardens together with Lewis) and "Alice 01" as characters is what confuses me really hard.

So what events led to original tea party?
Which Alice was at the original tea party?
Which Alice black rabbit got jealous about, leading to said Alice's demise? What happened to that dead Alice after?
Also do we ever meet 02-A after BS1?

>>
>>727598934
At this point into the plot Grimm has enough motivation to save or "write back" every girl that suffered from ongoing events, in any capacity.

I don't think we need any motivation from events prior the game, like souls or IRL love, for this cause anymore. "Our" Grimm saw enough suffering already, and with how BS2 ended, BS3 kind of feels like a "counterattack" part of the story.
Like NG+ in Astlibra, when protagonists go "fuck it, we ate enough shit already, no time for doubt or despair - time to risk fucking up everything even more to try properly, and save everyone."

Mabel basically jumped the ship before she got too immersed and became an issue for Grimm in a same way TCO overstayed and got Alice'd. We will probably see her once she somehow "resets" the immersion, probably by picking a different role next game.
Will it be same Mabel or not is a really difficult philosophy question.
>>
>>727599679
I always found it rather amusing how obsessed MC was with Anulis for how small we knew about her good sides. Really gave off Alice obsession wives.
Like I understand that author decided to just not elaborate on it, and make protagonist's love purely an established character trait (without attempting to make player 'love' Anulis), but from the player perspective, given all the gorgeous women thowing themselves at him, it really hit a bit different.

>So what events led to original tea party?
That's still a bit of a mess and left somewhat unexplained, I believe it's been intentionally done so thanks to DLC 3 further adding to the idea that there's some majorly important information in our past that's necessary for saving the universe. We know some parts right now, like how the blood raining down in the memory flame there is from TCO and how TCO's fall to Earth seems to have been caused by a god (niggerman) hunting Ghoul (pic related for a still incomplete version of that, I need to finish this shit eventually), the fact that TCO was searching for love, their observing apparently being the result of a flight of fancy, and Jabber having an unspecified role in how it all shook out pairing (You) and Alice together and so on. However it's certainly not the full picture. For Mary's side of things, Jabber's monologue in the reverse route pretty much spells it out.
>Which Alice was at the original tea party?
01, AKA Prickett as we know her in BS2.
>Which Alice black rabbit got jealous about, leading to said Alice's demise? What happened to that dead Alice after?
Still 01/Prickett, go see Tea Party for Three in Queensland if you haven't yet. As for what happened after, my basic understanding is that Alice's soul was taken by Mary Sue for use in Mary's own little play, along with many of the other denizens and surroundings.
>Also do we ever meet 02-A after BS1?
Not that I know of.
>>727599245
Alice (real) making a wish, while it would make sense with her own unresolved feelings on the matter, is still something that hasn't been shown or mentioned at all that I know of, which is a glaring omission when we see wishes from multiple other parties including Lewis himself. 01 is definitely Prickett, and it was definitely Prickett at the tea party.

And thanks, I've mostly got a 'timeline' in the head now, last question would be..
So IRL Alice made a wish, her soul got dragged and.. effectively was put into Alice 01, then whole tea party happened? Or was Alice 01 some sort of IRL Alice recreation already, thus the number? If she was a recreation, where IRL Alice was trough across both games?
I am kind of lost here because we know Pricket is a part of TCO, but she is also the one tied to IRL Alice soul somehow..

NTA thats the questions i was asking about Pricket in >>727575867
but I didnt really get the clearest answer, besides up to interpretations because you have to consider ending G too where the Alice soul escapes but its clearly not Pricket. Pricket is Alice 01 so we can assume that Pricket is at least modeled off of her.

IRL Alice probably was just floating around inside TCO and escapes in Ending G when TCO got bonked hard. Then Pricket being modeled off Alice just starts falling in love with you/becoming more human like Mabel did and other Outer Gods.

Theres also a bunch of vague timeline stuff I'm not going to bother with if the author didnt make it clear themselves, it feels less relevant to the overall picture unless it was specifically a mystery detective game. We fuck girls that look like Alice and sometimes birds

>Wait, werent few "bad" BS1 endings describing similar looking events?
You're probably thinking of Glinda's diary that you can summon Dorothy for (and possibly Catherine's ending, but I'm hazy on it outside of Shub getting summoned in it as well). Sort of, but not quite. Glinda's diary describes the sky turning red and the world breaking in my old pirated version, as opposed to blood raining from the sky and monsters filling the streets. Maybe the Steam version has some updated translation for it, but I haven't played through the Steam version enough to get to it. Although this is also one of the few times you can actually see TCO outside of D I don't think it's supposed to be the same kind of event that we see in that memory flame in BS2.
>So IRL Alice made a wish, her soul got dragged and.. effectively was put into Alice 01, then whole tea party happened?
My current assumption is that Alice didn't make a wish as it's never stated that she made one, even if it's something that would add up with her feelings. Alice (real) and 01/Prickett are two entirely separate beings, it might have helped if I put quotation marks around original Alice back when I was describing 01/02's shit since it's meant in the context of the garden niggerman LARPing rather than reality itself. Prickett is the original Alice actor, think of it like that. But yes, the original tea party follows the events of that last memory flame, Tea Party for Three picks up sometime after entering the original tea party.
>>727602387
>IRL Alice probably was just floating around inside TCO and escapes in Ending G when TCO got bonked hard.
The white space we see Alice held in during G is related to GG. It's even got its own phase called "Pure White Prison" and it's something other characters like Jack and BS2 Victoria comment on. VN is also implied to take place in this space.

>Wait so why Alice's soul even caught in this bullshit if she didnt make a wish? Lewis's wish?
That's what I'm currently assuming. Again, it's not impossible that Alice did in fact make a wish, her memory flame even parallels Lewis's thoughts and we know he made a wish because of his feelings, it's just that to my knowledge we're never shown her making a wish to a niggerman, while we are shown multiple others doing so over the course of the game.
>And where was Alice in all that, just soul stored in.. somewhere, and then in GG-made prison for whatever Alice authenticity-replications reasons?
"Somewhere" is probably the best answer I have so far for where she seems to have been stored, GG/The Power to Change either utilizes the white space that's a part of the general garden design, or it flat out makes it itself for the creator to fuck around in. If G and H are any indications (and possibly the VN if we look at the hikki route) said white space seems to be close to the borders of the garden and are close to reality itself, Grimm passes through this space in G to exit to reality and does so again in H.
Why is something I can answer a bit better thanks to the useless nigger >>727587129, and some of Node's dialogue. BS2 Wonderland is a patchwork of multiple different gardens that all seem to be held together by a few things.
1) The Creator of the garden still existing. TCO's death in G causes a very rapid garden collapse.
2) GG still existing. With the destruction of GG, the garden undergoes a very rapid collapse.
3) The dreamers responsible for the garden still sleeping. This is one we have Node to thank for, as the awakening of the dreamer the garden is based in is also one of the ways that a garden can collapse (see: Azathoth for this on a much larger scale). My understanding is that it isn't just Grimm's dream keeping Wonderland afloat, but Alice's as well.

BS1 is basically the 15 hour tutorial to BS2. BS2 is just so much more game and mechanics. The black bar meme is because of people discussing BS2 lore and spoilers. Gameplay also gets much more interesting with the emphasis on bonus actions since you only rarely get access to companions/summons until end game. DLC3 (just the name of the update) is probably one of the hardest things Ive done in gaming, granted I dont play action games.

I'd definitely just jump into BS2 since you've already BS1, just know that BS2 is a direct sequel and that BS1 really doesnt explain their endings until BS2

BS1 lives and dies by its plot twist, that being ending C. You haven't reached that point, so it's no wonder you don't get the appeal.

Now that I've went back and read the teddy bears and other lore stuff I missed while getting reamed in DLC3, ending H does make a lot more sense to me now Pricket/Alice01 did infact develop closer to human and fall in love with you. The entire Library dream was her attempt to save you after all. And you as the player character also find all of this out if you actually took the time to read random teddy bears in Winterbell. So the relationship you did have as lovers was as real as it gets But also a bit of Caroll and Alice mixed in for sure.. So I do hope we get to save Prickett in BS3(tm) and Mabel

the Lewis and Alice both make a wish and diffrent god answer to them, for lewis its leaf and for alice its nyala, and nyalatophat meld alice into itself to understand love, while leaf combine various author including lewis to make grimm, since in the flashback grimm already loss his memory, so in this case, alice and lewis in the tea party is not entirely themself, right? then the rabbit pray to leaf and grimm get taken away then bs1 happen?

Yeah, I know a lot of people like to say BS1 is only fun to play as the prequel to 2 but I think everyone really underestimates how fucking obtuse BS2 is in its opening 10 hours or so.
I really hated it when I began and preferred the first game, the second spends so much time spinning you circles and being deliberately as opaque as possible about where to go or even how to unlock certain endings that it's really frustrating until you understand it.
I still think BS2 is the better game overall but it's actively hostile for players for the first few cycles.
