It's not that woke ruins the game, it's the pattern everyone's noticed: when a game has "woke" elements for no reason and it's obvious to everyone they're just pushing an agenda, the rest of the game is usually shit as well. Logically it makes sense as well considering they're prioritizing their agenda above making the game good, so they're probably not that invested into the game to begin with.

Expedition 33 is the most obvious one. I think my biggest grip with most woke media is absent in it, which is the blatant lack of understanding of your fellow man. There's no life experience baked into it, in spite of the protestations about being so smart for getting away from "straight white guy saves the day." E33 is nuanced and subversive in a smart way. There are good guys, but they have selfish, self-destructive motives. There are villains, but they're lost and don't know what to do aside from force things. The world's all fake, but it's thinking and feeling all the same. It doesn't have a right to exist, but the painters don't have the right to destroy it. That's properly "woke" in my mind, the idea that you're fucked no matter which way things go, so you do the best you can.
