It was boring compared to TES and Fallout

U WOT MATE?

I really don't understand how Bethesda and Microsoft looked at Starfield and expected a success. Did they even look at the gameplay? They definitely didn't play it themselves and find all the loading screens to be fun....

Who says they expected success? At some point you have to release the shit you spent a decade working on

>What went wrong?
20 year old game engine
TES6 will fail for the same reason
>>
>>727636675
it isnt that they looked at it and expected a success. the studio had been working on it for 14 years and they needed to just wrap it up. they were hoping it could turn a profit as-is, which it did.
would they had hoped for a blockbuster? of course, but that wasn't the goal for the release. they just wanted to get it out and make money
>>
I like it, but I don't talk about it here. I don't even share pictures here like I did when Starfield was still basically brand new.
>Where do you go?
Not saying shit. Also no, not Reddit or Discord. Absolute hellholes.
>>

Bro, Sarah Morgan
She's disgusting I know but some Starfield fans seem to genuinely love her
>>
>>727637163
The engine was the least of it's problems. It's major problem was that it was made by empty people, with no imagination, soul, drive, or vision.
>>
>>727636263
it made a nice profit for Bethesda, was generally well received by critics, and is mostly forgotten by general audiences whom they will fool all over again with TES 6 or Fallout 5.
it didn't get them another franchise but it was far from a defeat.
>>
>>727637690
The problem is that no one at Bethesda neither like nor read science fiction. This inhibits a "creative" team greatly.
>>
>>727636263
>interesting new mods come out each week

What went right?
>>
>>727637801
it flopped commercially if you don't count gamepass.
>>
>>727637905
which pronouns do you use in starfield?
>>
>>727637801
So this is modern day success. Feels like a lukewarm kiddy pool.
>>
>>727637908
So the best selling game of the generation flopped? lmao
>>
>>727637970
why do lefty troons like you to bring up pronouns umprompted?
>>
Reminder that they made this hundredmillion dollar project without a single design doc because Emil felt like it.
No exaggeration the people who depend on Bethesda for their 9-5 wagie employment should hatch a scheme to get him into a car crash. What a fucking retard.
>>
>>727636675
I am pretty sure neither ms or Bethesda understands why those games sold well and got so autistic community. " It just works " until it doesn't
>>
Just think about it. All of the questlines, item stats, descriptions, notes regarding the models and animation, level design, writing and speech trees, all of this with admittedly bethesda-level scale without a single design doc.

I would fucking hit him.

Starfield wasn't great, but it didn't "flop" if you have to have caveats.
>>
>>727636675
Bethesda knew they had a turd in their hands and just wanted to release it early but the retards at Microsoft believed in Todd and forced them to keep polishing the turd for another year
>>
>>727638304
>and just wanted to release it early but the retards at Microsoft believed
I thought it was the opposite? microsoft wanted to release early to juice their annual revenue but the studio talked them out of it
>>
>>727636263
It's boring
>>
I woulda played it a lot more of the base building stuff was deeper. I wasn't too captivated by chasing the quests around but I liked the idea of building out galaxy-wide infrastructure and extraction. I was hoping modders would rebuild the base building but
>>modders don't want to touch it
is the truth. its just dead, jim
>>
>>727638525
Nah, just compare what they showed, Ms gave them gazillion of dollars to make it look better in one year
>>
>>727638070
>unprompted
I'm talking about starfield and you're talking about transsexuals.
>>
>>727636263
>average to negative reviews from critics
80 on metacritic is very respectful considering how divisive the game was, much like Death Stranding
>diehard bethesda fanboys can't defend it
I will, especially against deceitful talking points like NPCs being ugly, when in reality its just the crowd tech being poorly implemented. Or jeets being exclusively involved with this, when most AAA studios outsource dumb shit to them, FromSoft/Elden Ring included
>modders don't want to touch it
Yet it has some of the best mods/tools, Watchtower alone mogs the entirety of the skyrim mod scene.

emil writing combined with incredibly boring gameplay

>pajeet subcontracted labor didn't know how to do anything so devs had to train them for basic tasks essentially just having them go through schooling out of their own budget
>product is worse than the average graduates portfolio in the US
It's actually a bit wild for a low iq fraud to get into a studio to be trained from nothing, paid above average just to have his work redone and cleaned up by his team lead and others just to be let go so he can fraud another studio to repeat the process and its all incentivized by tax breaks.
>>
they should've taken the limiters off the Daggerfall procgen and let AI go wild.
Instead they outsourced to 1000000 pajeets who made approximately 12 Points of Interest which were the 12 Points of Interest spammed incessantly across every single planet. Do you remember The Witcher 3 and how everyone talked shit about Skellige for all those boring-ass "Points of Interest" which was just a chest tied to a buoy? Starfield was that shit.
Emil's retarded main story quest being directly at-odds with the "NASApunk" theme didn't help. He gave you Skyrim Dragonshouts but rejected having aliens?
>>
>>727636675
they saw all the third worlders hyping up the game to be a star citizen, elite dangerous killer. then when it released its was shit elder scrolls in space
>>
>>727637905
>interesting new mods come out each week
For example?
>>
>>727641352
>He gave you Skyrim Dragonshouts but rejected having aliens?
After I saw that stars shouts use a mana-like resource I thought it'd be possible to make a Phantasy Star conversion mod. The framework for everything is there, from laser guns to space magic. Then it turned out the base game itself is so bloated that not only it can't support too many mods, it's already beginning to crumble under the weight of DLCs.
>>
>>727636856
It's clear it was just pushed out the door to stop Bethesda wasting any more time on it.
>>
>>727636263
It's ok to make games that appeal to the 90th percentile. It's also ok not to belong to that group.
Me? I'm at 336 hours of Kino in Space.
>>
>>727637690
The engine is why there's 50 loading screens to do anything
>>
I'll give you the Slyrim map except to fast travel anywhere you need to open it once select your location and confirm and then open it again select the location now that you are closer to it and select yes to fast travel again. And you have to do this 4 times just to get to Windhelm and back. What a shitshow of game design.
>>
>>727636263
Lots of interesting ideas and concepts, dismal if not atrocious/buggy implementation. The writing is so bad that it is not worthy of being displayed in fanfiction.net.
>>
>>727636263
Your shitpost.
>>
>>727636263
its main issue is a shit setting
otherwise the base game itself is fine and what you expect from a bethesda game
if modding fixed it like other bethesda games it would be great
no bethesda game is ever going to be successful now however since modders dont want to leave skyrim
>>
>>727637030
she is pozzed by molag + is a massive retarded whore

It's the most recent Bethesda title lol
>>
>>727637647
>She's disgusting
She's a massive cunt, more importantly. Just the cuntiest fucking person Bethesda has ever saddled on the players for compulsory missions, every time she opened her mouth I shot her just to end the voice line
>>
>>727636263
Have to open a menu to explore.

>>727636263
I was enjoying it until I realized the cowboy dude's daughter is a mulatto but both he and the mother, his ex-wife, were White
That and everywhere being filled with mystery meat brown subhumans
That and ESO beijg a complete piece of greedy shit made me drop bethesda for good. I have no expectations for TESVI.
