I'm not saying they're the best years in gaming (that'd probably be 2004-2005). But there's just something about games that released during the Great Recession/early 7th gen games that have this quality to them. It's somewhat adjacent to the whole "gritty brown" aesthetic everyone shits on, but I still get the same vibes from Mirror's Edge and FFXIII. I don't feel the same way about 2007 or 2010 games, it's only these two years

yeah thats when all the actual ps3/360 games were coming out instead of being multiplat with last gen.

7th gen was newer at that poinnt so there was more wonder to it.

Only 3 good games in the pic.

What, 3? I’m guessing dead space, demons souls and ninja gaiden 2.

Gen 7 had a lot of cancer and a lot of the good games had it in spades but at the same time, there felt like there was more innovation and variety with releases. Not to mention games were coming out frequently.

That shit was the beginning of the end, ninja gaiden 2, demon's souls and dead space were good though. GTA 4 was a stinker, mirror's edge just didnt click for me.
