CODENAME: S.T.EA.M. had Abraham Lincoln getting almost killed by cthulu monsters so Dorothy (yeah the one from Wizard of Oz) randomly jumps out of a portal and tells you all you have to take him to Oz to save him. You fight off cthulu monsters in the streets of The Emerald City (the place at the end of Wizard of Oz) and heal Lincoln who then pilots a giant mech which kills the evil space monster that was encased in ice in the north pole.

What's with the Nobunaga thing anyway? I know he was a little rough as leader but him being some sort of demon king in Japanese games seems a bit unwarranted.

>>727647820>Dynasty Warriors>Samurai WarriorsThat's kind of cheating, since they're all about historical figures.>>727647981>What's with the Nobunaga thing anyway? He was a big deal in Japan. Think like a George Washington who was a cowboy and took over the country after killing off a bunch of kings there, and you'll get some sort of sense of the Nobunaga legacy. Even if people aren't well versed on the history, they still have an idea of who he was so "japanese warlord" gets associated with him easily.>>727649128>why is it so common to demonize Nobunag"Demon" in Japan is a bit different from "demon" in the west. In western media, demons are literal evil designed to hurt all people and all good things. In Japan, demon is more like something with supernatural abilities that poses as a human. So demon Nobu is kind of like "he died but his spirit is still around this time as a POWERFUL DEMON" and it's basically superpowered Nobunaga appearing for a fight. It's not saying he's some sort of hellspawn here to possess and destroy the world.

>>727651350>>727651350>why is it so common to demonize NobunagIn addition to what was already said: because how he led is controversial to this day. And no, not controversial as in "REEEE he did bigoted things", but as in he's not easily pegged as a "good guy" or "bad guy". This is also another reason as to why he's so popular, and why it fits to make him a bit weird.

>>727659304>>727651350I don't want to speak for Japan but I imagine there's also an element of media taking influence from OTHER media, as in some notable Japanese media has used him as an arch villain, and some newer media is taking cues from that rather than from a specific historical beef with the man's conduct.

>>727647981>>727649128He was known as "demon daimyo" in real life too, which translates to being a literal demon in games and manga because it's cool>A letter left by Luis Frois states that in response to a letter from Takeda Shingen signed Tendai no Zasu Shamon Shingen (天台座主沙門信玄, lit.'The head priest of the Tendai sect Monk Shingen'), Nobunaga signed back Dairokuten no Maō Nobunaga (第六天魔王, lit.'Nobunaga the Demon King of the 6th Heaven'). Takeda Shingen cited Nobunaga's Fire Attack against Mount Hiei, the head temple of the Tendai sect, as the reason for his hostility to Nobunaga, and to emphasise this and gain support from Buddhist forces, he took the name of Tendai Zasu, indicating that he was the head of Enryaku-ji. In reality, however, Shingen was not a Tendai Zasu or even a believer in the Tendai sect, and it is said that Nobunaga may have referred to himself as the Demon King to mock Shingen's own choice of title.[97][56]tldr Nobunaga was supremely based and made buddhists seethe

>>727637281In a manner of speaking. "The Five" in Shadow Man, five serial killers important to the villain's evil plan, have four fictional serial killers that draw on both real and fictional murderers as inspiration, but the fifth one is Jack the Ripper himself, pulled out of the 1800s into Deadside and made ageless, thus explaining why the Ripper murderers stopped back then.He has a nice creepy level to find him in in the living world, an abandoned subway tunnel. >>727666381Fate on a surface level seems disrespectful to half the shit it represents but it usually turns out to have pretty fun and unique interpretations of what it does, and it's clear the artists have a lot of freedom.Dante being both the author and character because people so directly consider Dante's Inferno a self-insert story so the author gained the powers of the character is a fun idea. Albion/Melusine being a mecha dragon also feels like something very specifically Choco designed, and you can tell he loves her immensely from the fact that he still draws Melusine for unofficial content constantly even several years later. It's nice to see a game that big actually let its artists go wild with what they like.
