Why did Cereza's game fail?

Nobody plays Bayonetta for the story, surprising as that may be. If you remove everything that makes Bayonetta fun, which is the action gameplay, then there's nothing left for people to enjoy.

>>727643985Here's the thing:Tying a new game to an existing IP is really only a benefit when you're consistent with what people liked about the original. If you don't do that, you get the worst of both worlds where people who played the original don't buy because it's too different, while new customers are wary of entering an IP midway, and are turned off by the previous games. The only people it brings in are the very small subset of people who are genuinely invested in the story and world of Bayonetta, and both of them would have bought it anyways.Adventures with duos/escorts have done very well recently (God of War, The Last of Us, etc.), and having a unique stylized look helps to stand out. This would have very likely sold better if it was an original IP. Barring that, they should have at least removed Bayonetta from the title and marketing material.

I boughted it to play with my gf because I thought it had coop multiplayer, so we just use one joycon each. The game is pretty good.
