not sure if /v/ is aware, but I got glowing lightsabers (dynamic lighting) to work with KOTOR 2 Xbox version on original hardware

emulated or xbox is the only way to play kotor 2 in 2025. the aspyr version has dialog, graphical and music glitches (music is too loud or too quiet during cutscenes), and the original version rarely works on modern hardware.

Why would you lie on an anonymous taiwanese basket weaving forum like that?
>>
>>727647248
the fuck am I lying about?
>>
>>727647307
You already know, no need to pretend otherwise.
>>
>>727647431
not sure what you think im lying about.
ASPYR's KOTOR 2 patch introduces
-invisible water
-dialog skipping due to catastrophic memory leak after 1 hour of playtime
-music during cutscenes is broken entirely or too low
-no fog on Dxun or the sith tomb
-crashing during video playback

The original PC version also has the memory leak, but it is far worse on the Aspyr version.

I've been playing the aspyr version recently and I haven't had any issues yet. Just got to the polar region of Telos
>>
>>727648691
nice anon. glad it's working for you. what hardware u running ? (youll inevitably see the other problems later)
>>
>>727646862
OG ME1 is the same way. People talk about the demake but nobody realizes that the pc port of ME1 has a lot of broken elements
>>
>>727649162
KOTOR 2 has always been broken on PC. It was never fixed because Obsidian never uploaded it. Now with TSLRM ported to Xbox, and with native controller support and the perfect UI that the XBOX has, there is literally no reason to play the PC version anymore. You can run original hardware or emulate it with Xemu. The music being too quiet during cutscenes is enough reason to not touch the PC version. Factor in the memory leak and graphical problems and no thanks. Someone actually fixed the water recently though, haven't tried it myself.

Has Xemu finally reached the point that you can play full games with no glitches? I find it hard to believe the emulator is flawless, but I hope it's good.

I've only beaten it on PC and was even aware of this. It is a genuinely inferior version

what's so wrong with the steam version?
>>
>>727648691
You got that far on aspyr's version without having the dialogue skip glitch or a load crash?

This isn't true at all, I just booted it up to wander around Telos like an hour ago. The GOG version is fine, plus you can mod the shit out of it.

What if I have a period correct PC?

>Memory leak
Does the Windows 98 compatibility mode trick fix it? I know it does on Empire at War, which is another Aspyr title with a memory leak.

>>727660431
no there is no fix

Why would you rip open a blind alien's vestigial eye sockets? She's already blind.

>>727646748
The first KOTOR was specifically made for Xbox, then got ported to PC later.
