What's the alternative here? Is this just corporate seething because they can't compete with a model that isn't obligated to blindly increase profits every year for the shareholders? Does steam not sell enough advertisement space? Is it not being enshittified fast enough for epic to keep up? Should I have to pay an additional membership fee on top of the actual price of games so I can play without in game popups? Maybe steam should limit my gaming hours or my internet connection speed on MY fucking PC to extort me for more money?
