I love dual screen handhelds, but it’s just not the same anymore when software isn’t built around it. If I’m going to play a game on dual screens, I’d rather have it slap the map, weapon loadout, or menus on the bottom screen so I can have a HUD free view on the upper screen. Without that, they’re just two phones stacked together.

it's a device trying to evoke memories of the 3DS which had different screens, when you touched a 3DS screen and it responded, it felt different. This will just feel like a touch screen on a phone. People play emulators on their phones and it's not quite the same tactile feeling
>>

I will only convince you to buy the most expensive model. It's cheaper to upgrade from 256 to 1TB than it is to buy a 1TB microsd right now. I'm dreading the email asking my to pony up another $100.

Screen latency
All-glass surfaces
Capacitive touchscreen instead of resistive like the original (3)DS
>>

Oh and also get the cheap "4PX" shipping. It takes a couple weeks to arrive but they lie about the value and you won't pay import fees (maybe).

>>727650865
This is tendiefag cope. There's input lag due to latency, yes, but resistive screens are objectively inferior in every way. If they used resistive screens there would still be input lag but they would also be imprecise and need a stylus.
>>
>>727652278

Look up price of microsd, you tell me.

Also it'll be internal storage so much faster.

Also also, more RAM. Important for emulating PC games.

I got the expensive one because it was the only logical choice.

>>727648910
The bottom screen is capacitive instead of resistive, which sucks. Plus dual screen support on Android emulators is still kinda iffy.
Also
>another fucking full-glass chinkheld
Fuck no, China. Stop this shit. Full glass is the only reason I don't give a singular fuck about the RP5/6 and why I'm still sitting on a 406H instead of jumping to something stronger, every damn company's been using full-glass fronts as the "premium option", which is just bullshit.

I'm waiting for the RP6. The ds form factor is uncomfortable to hold for long, and the emulator touch input lag is supposedly pretty bad. I would probably only get the Thor if I was super into jrpgs, because that's the strong suit of the ds/3ds libraries.
RP6 has a similar OLED 120hz screen, comes in some much nicer colors, and runs a bit cheaper.

with half a second of input lag. The screens aren't the right resolution for DS games, either.
>>
>>727660804
Yeah honestly fair point, 3DS emulation is still a bit rough, but that's the case on any platform. Still, plays most 3DS stuff that matters and plays basically everything else handheld/console that matters, and even plays Windows games in increasing numbers day by day.

The thing I was waiting for was solid GameCube/Wii emulation on a handheld, and this not only does that it also does DS and 3DS.

If you haven't been keeping up, the reason people are shilling this so much is we've largely been stuck playing "up to PS1" on chinaman handhelds for like 5 years unless you wanted to go super-super expensive and even then the hardware quality and user experience was kinda shit. It seems like with Thor they really hit a perfect sweet spot, and it uses Android so there's a lot of freedom in what you run on it. Plus it's not some trash SOC either, it's a legit Snapdragon. A couple generations behind, sure, but that's not the end of the world.
>>
>>727662627

Android is just a shitty platform, it doesn't matter how much things improve they are all far from being close to what proper PC software can do

Yeah, you can "run" PS2 games in most of those chinkhelds until you run into shit like Sly games, that require a specific fork version to run properly that you can't install without uninstalling the current version that works for every other game, let alone say stuff like CEMU and Dolphin that run okay but are outdated and way behind the current mainline version

So at the end of the day more than being the ultimate console they're just an okay device where you gain some things over original hardware but lose others
>>
>>727663228
Sly games run fine on Odin 3. The problem is the input lag. Emulation causes unavoidable input lag and Android seems to as well since it's always worse on Android.
>>
>>727663228
SteamOS for ARM will be out in 3 months anon and revolutionize chinkhelds forever. A proper linux distro with perfect x86 emulation.
>>
So how's GameNative on these things?
>>
>>727663352
They run fine, yes, if you do what I just said
>Input lag
On PC it can be as low as like a couple of extra frames of lag which to any non autistic fuck is more than good enough

As I said, these things aren't perfect but they're serviceable and if that's also good enough for you then great, but they aren't the final solution to hand-held gaming
>>
>>727663489
Don't kid yourself, that won't be viable until several years from now

>There's videos of them playing sonic on it were it's very visibly tearing between the screens
That's the RGDS from a 40hz idle mode kicking in from lack of touch which, supposedly, has been fixed. Thing's pretty shit regardless though. And this is unreliable hinge wise as well. Still, if you want your 30 seconds of 3DS you should get one without thinking before the RAM jew takes down the entire chinkheld market, there won't be a revision any time soon.

>>
>>727666237
Typically but it's so miniscule you wouldn't ever notice; something's dangerously wrong with your controller if there's notable input latency. Even on super cheap controllers and phone controllers this shit should just werk.
>>
>>727666402
Personally, I'd still rather have a device with active cooling for emulating higher-end stuff.
>>
>>727666402
I bought two 8bitdo controllers, because everyone says they're the best (and I hate the dpad on the switch pro controller) and they are both unusable. The input lag is insane. I don't know how people use these things without going insane, let alone recommend them.
One of the two controllers even came with a 2.4Ghz "low latency" wireless dongle (probably because they know Bluetooth sucks) and while it's better and actually usable, there's still noticable input lag compared to just the standard Switch controller.
