Anyone else hate metroidvanias? Every single one is like the exact same game.
I don't hate them. But they are a bit stale for me. it happens in every genre though. Extraction shooters are barely different, the same for kart racers, survival horrors, hero shooters, mobas, tower defense games, overly spiked indie platfomers, sidescrolling beam em ups, etc.The concept of having parts of the map locked, having to find the key, elsewhere, then going back, etc is old as time. Silly example, but if you think of older id games like Wolfenstein3D, Doom and Quake they all did that. Metroidvanias change keys for new movesets. It's ok.Tbh I can't come up with new special moves or other interesting stuff to spice them up myself so it's difficult to complain.

Fun physcis based combat, absolutely chaotic and extremely fun Poseidon bossfight thanks to physics and the best portrayal of greek gods in vidya.Currently playing Steamworld Dig games. They're simple, short and straightforward. However the second one already bothers me with the ammount of dialogues and cutscenes compared to the first SWD.

I always found them a downgrade of traditional platformers, I hate backtracking a lot.
