WAY AWAY AWAY FROM HERE I'LL BEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>727664967Finally a good thread.Did you guys ever learn about monster tricks in this game? They make getting the freestyle platinums so goddamn easy.
>>727664967WRITE IT ON THE WALLS AND READ ITBRIGHT RED SO YOU CAN SEE ITDON'T FAIL ME NOWkaori best girl btw
>>727664967>got a copy of the gamecube version the other dayI didn't fuck up by getting this version, did I?
Spending 20+ minutes riding down the peaks WAS peak.
>>727665761peak is doing that IRLhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5g00z4_8QI
>>727665670The GameCube version was fine. But since it only had 3 shoulder buttons, tricks were different... some might have even been missing.
>>727665670>I didn't fuck up you didsome textures are replaced with nintendo shit
There was a yellowcard song in an SSX game? Doesn't seem like it'd fit.
>>727668279>some textures are replaced with nintendo shitsuch as?
>>727664967I bought this on my series x time ago to play in 4k. Bad mistake. I forgot the original Xbox had only 2 triggers and no bumpers, which completely fucks the control scheme of the game. Back to pcsx2 it is
>had the PS2 online adapter>racing other players and had some top leaderboard times>people started finding all the gay teleports to cut some race times in half so had to start using those to even stay relevantWas fun while it lasted.
There will eventually be a spiritual successor, right? There's no way nobody even tries at some point, even if it's shit.
I love yellowcard
>>727669335Sorry but the extreme sports era has passed. Hopefully there may be a resurgence/
>>727668495nvm OPs pic is 3theres a chance your expirience is untainted
>>727664967>been slaving away getting the platinums on all courses>suddenly a /v/ threadcrazy! anyways SSX 3 is one of the greatest games of all time.
>>727669335>every major snowboard game since on tour has been simcade cringe>project powder never had a chanceit is over sisters lets cut our dicks>>727671665frequency illusion
>>727665080I made one by accident after like 20 hours, then I realized they are a thing. What a fun mechanic.
>SSX was a product
>Fixes On Tour's most retarded mechanicactual fucking game changerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg38SsIZVVU
The radio guy was Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing
While I think SSX 3 had great maps, I'll forever cherish the zany maps and vibe of original SSX>Tokyo Megaplex: a track thats huge pinball machine>Aloha Ice Jam: a iceberg brought to Hawaii you ride down complete with Tiki theming>Every map has so many shortcuts I'm finding hidden ones even years afterward>The "abandoned movie one-liners" when entering hidden areas + callouts for tricks
>>727672420never really got that far in og but>aloha ice jam in tricky is a fucking unfun nightmare to go through>tokyo megaplex can be skipped entirely by going on the rails the entire courseI found the "wacky" courses to be the least enjoyable. Ironically, the most fun course in tricky is garibaldi. Those courses were good ideas, but were executed poorly, and tricky's jank didn't help make them any fun. SSX 3 is more consistent with its courses.
>>727667847For tricky there is a romhack patch to restore the moves and fix the controls.
>>727670975I hate that the only modern over the top extreme sports games are ubishit, and even those like steep aren't nearly as fun and ridicolous as stuff like SSx3 and Downhill Domination
>>727669335https://store.steampowered.com/app/3082730/HYPERyuki_Snowboard_Syndicate/ at least looks somewhat SSX like. Could be good ,maybe shit. Who knows
>>727669335>>727674289Tricky Madnesshttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2743850/Tricky_Madness/also the SSX creator Steve Rechtschaffner is working on a spiritual successor 'Project Gravity' sicne 2020 but I doubt that shit will ever come out

>>727665670iirc its missing some grabs from the ps2 version and has some weird slowdown problem where the framerate dips on certain tracks even on emu
>>727677137>has some weird slowdown problem where the framerate dips on certain tracks even on emuI thought that was only an issue with ssx tricky...
>>727672686Shame you didnt enjoy them, while I think the "normal" maps like Garibaldi or Elysium Alps were stellar, gimmick maps were my favorite, Aloha Ice Jam especially with its ballbusting turns and ramp pacings. However I agree that in general SSX3 has objectively better tracks, my love for gimmick tracks is just a subjective preference. As for "you can skip whole map in Megaplex by grinding"; yeah that'd be correct. This is one of the things I love about original SSX: the maps are essentially "choose your difficulty" in themselves which I think is very unique approach. Pretty much every map besides the first (Garibaldi) can be "skipped" by adhering to shortcuts only. Shortcuts cover nearly 100% on every map and AI doesnt use them. If you stick to the main track you'll have ridiculously difficult opposition, but people who want an easier time can pick as many shortcuts as they want. It'd be great to have "AI uses shortcuts" mode as well though.
For me? It has to be Tricky.
Surprised SSX never got the RETHAWed treatment. Would love to tackle Tricky or On Tour maps with 3's physics
