OLED is too dim for pancake lenses (the best lenses)
Resolution is good enough
Mobile chip is great addition to VR headsets. If you don’t like standalone games for some reason you can just connect it to your PC like any other VR headset
I haven’t connected mu Quest 3 to PC ever and it’s currently my main gaming system. I think Q3 is better deal than Frame, even if they were the same price
>>
>>727670537
what none - LCD headsets have you tried with pancake lenses?
>resolution is good enough
no it isn't.
>mobile chip is great
no it isn't. It adds weight, heat and a short play time. You'll get 1 hour of wireless and then have to use a charge cable if you want to continue or add more battery weight.
Quest 3 is shit too.
>>
>>727671171
No one makes OLED HMDs with pancakes because you can’t see a thing through those lenses
I just keep a powerbank in my pocket if I’m planning to play a longer session. The mobile chip is also needed for wireless streaming so it’s a good thing. I haven’t tried wired VR but I imagine it’s annoying
>>
>>727671668
>I haven't tried it but it's bad
no anon. it's a much clearer image. A more stable image. A more smoother image.
Also there are 5 or 6 uOLED headsets with pancake lenses released
>>
>ooooh muh specs
>woah the technology
There are still no VR games I actually want to come back to time and time again. I really like the dogfighting in Elite Dangerous in VR but the overall game is a fucking slog. There are no good VR games. Its dead end tech. Nothing VR will ever be worth it. We got Beat Saber. Thats it. 15 minute novelty bullshit. The modern equivalent of newgrounds flash games, just now directly blasted into your eyeballs.

MicroLED screens cost an arm and a leg currently. It’s not a viable option for Valve’s headset in years if ever. They are targeting sub $1k price point
>>
>>727672092
They're really not that expensive. You can buy them factory direct.
>>
I don't think good OLED screens are very expensive at all, there are sub 400$ chinkhelds that have 7 inch 120HZ OLED screens that ass rape the steam deck's screen
>>
>>727672092
They could have made a uOLED with pancakes if they ditched the retarded "wireless gaming" on some shit mobile chip thing.

mech games and other similar cockpit sims are good
>>
>>727671171
Resolution is good enough if you just want HD, getting close to 2K monitors.
Batteries can be used almost indefinitely if you just hotswap continuously.
Mobile chip is necessary for video encoding, decoding and general wireless stuff.
>>727672078
>There are no good games made for widescreen 16:9
>I can stick with my 4:3 CRT forever, flat panels are dead end tech
>Ooooh widescreen, it's such a short novelty
>The modern equivalent of sitting in a cinema consooming buttered popcorn
>>
I'm getting one without a battery pack behind my head or wasting my GPU on encoding
>>
>>727672078
>We got Beat Saber.
Superhot is better.
>>
>>727672915
Yeah, sure, faggot. VR is totally the same as the inconsequential transition from 4:3 to 16:9. You unironically made a good point there. Nobody fucking cared about 16:9 except for movies and nobody fucking cares about VR for anything. 99% of VR is furry pedophiles in VRChat.
>>
VR isn't for VR-only games (waggleslop)
it's for GOOD games worthy of being made also for normal monitors
it's a deluxe viewing experience
>>
>>727672915
>Resolution is good enough if you just want low resolution shit
2160x2160 is a similar PPD to 540p on a 32" monitor. It's bad. You think it's fine because you're used to playing with your Quest, which is also bad.
>Batteries can be used almost indefinitely if you just hotswap continuously.
cables fix all the problems of wireless VR.
>Mobile chip is necessary for video encoding, decoding and general wireless stuff.
cables fix all the problems of wireless vr

Sorry OP. Not allowed to be excited. This is a hate everything board. Pack it up. gtfo.
>>
I can't wait to get my free Steam Frame just like I got my free Steam Deck OLED from Steambuxx from selling TF2 skins
>>
>>727674109
I was excited for it, until I seen the specs and realised it was a 2019 headset.
>>
guys will i be able to pair headphones to this
or is everyone gonna hear me when i'm watching stereoscopic porn
>>
>>727676032
>will i be able to pair headphones to this
Dunno but you can pair earphones.
>>
if anything this seems like a better purchase than the cube
