It does have a cool practice feature for bosses though so its really not even needed for that. Overall yes, the monetization model is pretty good. Let the whales pay for us all to play. It's a fun game with fun combat and some unique cinematic quests. I'm just hoping they keep adding more mystic arts and weapons and open up more stuff for online mode. Not being locked into a specific build is great. It is much more in line with Nioh than any Souls game.

For example, the open world exploration some nay say it's ubishit but ubishit tells you to climb a tower and then everything on the area is market on your map. In this game you see a tower, you heard from an npc about a quest there and that's market on your map, on your way there you find a wounded man that hints you to the healer questline, you see a meow meow puzzle, you see a bunch of flowers, an enemy camp, a bear, you see a cave with a whole dungeon inside of it, you see some lore dumb npcs and then you get to the tower and you start a quest to fix a pagoda that send you into another questline on another side of the map and you do the same fun there. All without having everything pre market on your map, so it feels rewarding to find that meow meow or that cave you didn't saw at first but you noticed it when trying to catch that purple flying bug
