If they hadn't ruined super moves with the hyper mode button + rock paper scissor mechanics it would be 10/10.

Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 lets you customize your character's moveset and abilities, can be played like a very simple button masher but still strategy involved; it isn't overly technical like Infinite World and doesn't have any shit rock paper scissors mechanics like Budokai 3, soundtrack is the best of any DBZ game, stages are really pretty and varied, story mode is a fun condensed version of the anime story but has loads of opportunities for the player to trigger "What If?" scenarios and unlock lots of secret content

Mortal Kombat is the textbook example of a good "bad fighting game series". In terms of pure combat mechanics games like MKII or UMK3 were inferior to even 2nd tier 1990s Japanese fighting games like Fighter's History, Asuka 120% Limited or Advanced V.G. 2.

Mortal Kombat's atmosphere (more so MK2 than MK3 / UMK3) was fucking amazing though.

Not even true fighting games, they're multiplayer action games like that get included under the fighting game umbrella, Smash is pretty much Poy Poy's side view cousin.

MK9 is just a really good feeling ass game. It has a nice simplicity to it while it also doesn't take long to be able to pull off crazy shit, it's like Smash bros in that way. I don't know what it's like to play at top level but if you're a casual or average player it's a fucking fun ass game
