Do people actually enjoy these games? There's no way, right? I'm not talking about the dudebros and the normies, I'm talking about here. I couldn't put more than 2 hours into this.
>>
I've heard absolutely nobody talk about these games. They're the Avatar of vidya.

I played it when I got it for free with my ps5. basically I changed the controls in game so melee was set to square and triangle and never used the bow unless absolutely necessary. I never finished it, I thought it was going to be more like zelda but it was just a 3rd person shooter.
>>
A literal industry plant franchise lol.
>>
It got bundled with every Playstation console sale so Herman could pretend his game was popular.
the absolute hilarity of how both it and its sequel was utterly overshadowed by FROMsoft games will never stop being funny. dude really thought his inorganic hypershilled game could beat Dark Souls.

The franchise's most viewed video on YouTube has only 15 million views in all. That is NOT normal given how many copies were sold. It's an industry plant franchise.

I'm not sure about this. How many views is an exclusive game supposed to have? These games sold like seven million copies which isn't nothing.

I don't think so. I have never played it, not even thought about playing it. I don't think I know anyone who played it. I only know about that game because of memes about protagonist woman looking weird.

Played it a couple months back. Gameplay was kinda ass until you get overpowered and a lot of the quests were pretty run-of-the-mill standard fare but the world design was beautiful and I liked how the overarching story unraveled. Also hacking the machines and exploring the areas was pretty fun.
The hate for the games in here is literal drone behaviour, most people just try to fit in which looks pretty pathetic in turn but w/e.
>>
>>727676168
I played it and it should have been a fairly linear action game rather than open world slop. I got it literally only for the gigantic robo beats didnt care that the protagonist is an ugly dyketroon.
>>
>>727676168
The gameplay's fun. But it's one of those rare few times where story and characters are so bad they drag down the overall experience when otherwise I'd at least be able to ignore them.

I like them. They aren't incredible masterpieces or anything. You get a pile of goofy weapons and run around killing robot animals. I think they are pretty neat. Story for the first one is so-so. Second one isn't as neat but has a couple fun ideas.

It has something genuinely interesting in difficult robots which require you to prepare an approach and execute it quickly and precisely. But they saddled it with all of the "obligatory" shit - open world and crafting and skill progression and a really fucking long tutorial prologue. It starts out implying that stealth kills are the way to go but you very quickly stop being able to actually get stealth kills because the bots have more health than the sneak damage. And they train you to hit the explosive canister on an enemy but after you've done that ten times or whatever they start slapping armor over it with really poor visibility that they've done so and without telling you about it.

Also I don't have a gyro controller so I was doing open world stuff with a controller and swapping to mouse and keyboard whenever I anticipated needing to make accurate shots. And the slowmo mechanics (sliding and jumping slow mo) just didn't seem to want to work for me both because they probably expect that you upgrade draw speed to fit shots into the window and they just didn't want to trigger.
>>
>>727676168
I played the first one when it came out. I enjoyed it at first for the most part, this was like 10 years ago though so I was a lot more receptive to storygames. It's one of those games that's fun for a little while until you put it down one day and never experienced the desire to load it up again. Just no hook at all and the story was fucking dire.
>>
>>727676168
I liked it. It's great sci-fi, if you're into it. One of the best looking games I've ever played. Pic rel, unmodified screenshot I took with the in-game editor.

I haven't played the sequel but I watched the entire playthrough of it on YT, and I didn't like it too much. I think the story took a nosedive in the second game, kinda felt like the writers/devs gave up and stopped trying after seeing the first game receive such a positive reception.

>>727676842
>But it's one of those rare few times where story and characters are so bad they drag down the overall experience when otherwise I'd at least be able to ignore them.
I find this to be my experience with most Sony exclusives these days. I'm not sure if I'd like some parts of this game's story and characters either if I played it today. I just finished Ghost of Tsushima a couple days ago and have very mixed feelings about it. There's some parts of the story, character choices, motivations, and dialogues that I find really retarded and off putting. But same as Horizon Zero Dawn, the in-game world is really well crafted and absolutely gorgeous. Story-wise, there are parts of these Sony games that are really shallow and braindead. They're obviously meant to appeal to normies and teenagers.
>>
The good aesthetics of this game start and end with the dinosaurs. Everything else looks fucking terrible.
>>
>>727677581
>difficult robots
It's actually really fucking weird. The game is supposed to be for casuals but it has a pretty high skill ceiling and the difficulty settings barely scale the way it's difficult. Are the casuals just dumping arrows into the robots on babby mode?
>>
If you've played any of the nu lara tomb raider games or that ghost of tshukima shit you know exactly what this game is like. They managed to add robot dinosaurs and it's still incredibly generic and forgettable. First post anon has it right but I remember avatar more actually

Just outside the reserve/human encampment where that screenshot with the orangish-brown theme. Different areas in the game have a different color scheme/theme, which is what makes the overall world look so nice and varied. I don't have a screenshot of that specific area from the cover art but I found pic related online and I recognize the area in it, and it looks almost exactly the same in-game as it does in that pic.

You do realize that cover arts tend to be slightly exaggerated and stylized, right? I played this game many years ago and I don't remember there being deep blue skies like that but I may be wrong. But what you actually get in the game is pretty close. Here's a video of the kind of area that the cover art is depicting.

You get away pretty fast with a mount and it just makes sense that machines are more or less relentless since they don't function on regular stamina. You can also take them out quickly with some bombs which is what I did most of the time. The most annoying part to me was how quickly reinforcements arrive every single time, even if you only want to take out a single nuisance it suddenly becomes a horde of giant mecha bisons if you're not fast.
I guess it makes sense in the world but sometimes I just wanted to explore. That's why stealth hide and reinforcements are the goat.
>>
>>727679291
Yes, but is that what you want? The way it actually looks in the game looks more natural with softer tones, because cover arts, as you might know, tend to be a bit exaggerated. But you can always change your monitor settings to make it look more vibrant like that.

Yes, that one arid desert area, amongst all the other varied biomes in the game, is brown. No, there is not a great deal of bloom. The game is actually exceedingly pretty for how well it performs. It's open-world with massively detailed enemies/NPCs, large view distance, shit loads of dense foliage, the lighting is really good, with detailed shadows, AO, highlights, GI etc on all objects all of the time, really clean and smooth looking too without typical ray tracing blur, and yet it performs smoothly and at high frame rates. It might well have the best graphics to performance ratio of any modern game from the last 10 years.

It's a flawed game of course, the gameplay is fun at times with some interesting ideas but gets repetitive and is ultimately pretty derivative open world stuff. The dialogue is wooden and all the characters bar Aloy are completely boring. But the graphics and optimization, at least in the remastered version, are outstanding.

I've never had a girlfriend as a teenager or a young adult. Truthfully, I've NEVER even talked to a girl romantically until I met her. I've been a shut in incel until last year. The fact that I have a girlfriend that pretty, successful, and "normal" is something I never thought would've happened to me. If she wants me to stop playing video games, I will accept that. Yeah, I can see there's a slight brown-orangish tone going on there still. But it's still markedly different from the encampment area. It's not exactly like the cover art, but that's something to expect. HZD isn't the only game that has a more eye catching, vibrant and stylized cover art. Games tend to do that, movies too. If you wanna call that false advertising or misleading, then I'd be inclined to agree somewhat.

Chinese women, like Korean women, are hilariously fake / plastic to the point they look uncanny. Just tweak your display settings if you want it more rainbowy you faggot. When I played the game, I didn't mind how it looked. Actually try playing it yourself and I don't think you'd mind it either, it's a really pretty game with very good lighting. But when I look at these pictures and videos, I agree that the brownish tint looks a little stuffy and that the game might look better without it.

The way you edited this pic however >>727679291 to make the colors pop does not look good. It looks cheap, and ironically something that might appeal to Indians. Lot of third worlders online who will post pics that look like that with the contrast turned high to make the colors pop, and they don't realize how unnatural that can make it look. Similar to how they post "AI enhanced" photos with overdone smoothing that makes everything look artificial.

She's an accountant and I'm the IT guy, so I helped her out quite a lot when she had issues. That's how we got to talking one day. They would be better if they dropped the terrible story and perhaps made Aloy a mute custom character you made with a creator, but simply running around for robots and shooting off their individual weapons to make a larger fuck you weapon is fun. At its best it's a more fluid Monster Hunter. At its worst it's like Witcher 3 and BG3 where you're stuck in a lame fucking loop of dialogue that adds nothing. I'd give both games an 8. You're a weeb on a weeb website. Avatar is a very Western gen X/millenial-coded movie directed and produced by people at least twice your age. No wonder your sensibilities don't align.

I tried to play this but looking at that hideous women just put me in a bad mood so I refunded it

We already know marketers for Playstation games come here to /v/ from that TLoU twitter thread, so I just assume anyone talking about this game positively is a paid shill

I like the first one even though the story is ass and I'm enjoying my current playthrough of the second one. They're woke as shit but the gameplay lets me ignore the woke.

My biggest issue with these games are the lack of enticing story and characters. The writers fall into the trap of setting their story in a post apocalyptic world but trying to TELL the story of the pre apocalypse. If pre-apocalypse was interesting, we'd start our story there. The audience cant get emotionally invested into a world that is already dead.

Adding on to this. Breath of the Wild avoids this problem by making the pre-apocalypse story optional which allows players to focus on the here and now. Its not important how Link got defeated by Calamity Ganon, whats important is that Link revived and is setting out on a quest to kill Ganon.

Fuck no. The games are literally the free shit you get with buying 50% of consoles and nobody cares to play them.

I thought GoT was one of the better ones stroywise. It didn't try to overcomplicate itself and most of the characters were pretty clear cut. The only one I didn't like was the bow guy who let his discipline go after spending so much trying to find and kill her.

>Advertise how woke your team and product is
>Get scared your white female protagonist is getting to close to BBC
>Invent a black female love interest out of nowhere for the BBC so you can justify pairing your white female protag with literally anyone else
This is exactly what happened with the nu-Star Wars movies.

The game is meant to be played in HDR. It's a lot more lush and saturated in HDR on an OLED. The fog is a lot less visible too due to increased contrast. Looks almost exactly like the box art when I'm playing it, though I am playing the remastered version.

>What even counts as feminine anymore
A woman's hairstyle is a massive part of their attractiveness and Aloy has one of the ugliest hairdos ever seen.

I played it cuz it was free, and it was alright. Like a solid 5/10.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first game for how nice the traversal and combat felt on the medium settings. Alongside only bloodborne, dragon's dogma, and mad max, it's one of only four games I have platinumed.
Normally, I play rts and multiplayer shooters with my bros, or the occasional rpg and horror game alone, but something about the whole package of hzd just really captivated me. Annoying too cos I went back to play the expansion and couldn't get back into it.

Why the fuck would Lego collaborate with this franchise? Don't they have people who look into if these things are feasible or not? Nobody is going to buy a fucking Lego Horizon game. It does not have that fucking strong of a fanbase. Nobody fucking cares about Horizon

first one had a interesting backstory but the characters, story, dialogue are mediocre, 2nd one is just straight up garbage with the only redeeming quality being some fun side quests and nice visuals, also they are very normie games, girls like them, my gf plays the first one all the time on my ps5 and owns the sequel on steam
