I bought a cheap dell monitor around 2014 and it has never given me any issues. No dead pixels, nothing. Best money I've ever spent.
I bought 144hz moniter and within a month it had a giant blue strip running down the side. 1080p60fps4lyfeI've never had these cheap piece of shit moniters crap out on me

the solution to your problem, op, is to go to the electronics store and rip open each box of the monitors you are interested in. plug each one into a demo or retail computer there and check for dead pixels on the RGB color space. buy the one that works. if none of them do, cuss out the employees and leave. that's what I did at least when I was shopping around for $1k displays a couple years ago. they all had issues out of the box.
