We have interviews with former Retro staff who have said that the fetch quests in 1 and 2 were added last minute because Nintendo felt the games were too short. That's almost certainly what happened here too.Retro is definitely at fault for the hyrule field like idea, but Nintendo is probably responsible for the worst aspects of prime 4
>>727689771The worst thing about Prime 4 is the absolute dogshit level design. I could tolerate the desert and the stupid fetch quest if the rest of the game let me get lost in it. The most open-ended it ever gets is when there's a locked door and you have to walk down two branching hallways to open it. There's no interconnectivity, next to no optional rooms, none of the expansion items have any actual puzzles to solve... It's just godawful
