Why are most of horror games never give player any weapons? People keep telling that game is not scary when you can kill or at least fight monster, but this is bullshit, any horror game at some time stops being scary once you play it long enough

Nosferatu on the SNES is supposed to be a horror game but you can beat the crap out of everything there, including with spinning high kicks. The game isn't scary at all for me. Meanwhile Clock Tower still terrifies me to this day.

Net being able to fight back increases the horror a hundred fold

Pic related was pretty scary despite giving you revolver and shotgun, it's not about being able to fight back, it's about atmosphere, sound design and monster

Because it's a way for 'indie' devs to pad out content by making you die all the time. It makes the game seem longer than it actually is. Horror games are only popular because of the reactions they get out of youtubers.

Cool game but like 70% of it are robots and dolls

Nosferatu is one of the funniest game I've ever played, dudes confronted by all kinds of abominations and horror movie monsters, a wolfman, dracula himself, and he just beats the shit out of them with his bare hands.

>Get to the end of the game
>Get told the whole trial was a bunch of lies to lure people to them
>Find out you are one of many that have been getting tricked
>Get sucked dry and thrown into the pit with every other suckered dead male
I guess I go for the other ending instead?

In my opinion horror and fear comes from having to make decisions under stress, so taking away decisions is probably not great. What I mean by that is the ability to fight back, but having limited resources, turns every encounter into a flight or fight response. If it is just flight or just fight you don't need to make any decisions.

I think RE2 had a really great idea, just not executed perfectly. You have limited supplies, so you can't just kill every zombie and have to avoid some of them. Unfortunately, there are still too many bullets and basic zombies are so dumb and non-threatening that once you understand how to easily circle them, you stop caring. Then when the actual scary monsters show up you're forced or incentivized to fight them anyways and you have tons of supplies.

This. It's more effective than jump scares. Add the right atmosphere and you have things like Silent Hill, however even non-horror games can give you the creeps like survival games. I was playing Astrometica and Planet Crafter and the way you need to manage your resources, specially Oxygen, is absolute nightmare fuel in the first steps of the these games.

For me it was masturbating with the nun's panties and finding the loli nun who's hiding in the closet watching you masturbate and fucking her

Run and Hide horror only sucks for a hiding part. You take the hiding part out and it unironically becomes great. Horror enemies that you know are always out there after you can be really creepy.

If you want to give the player a weapon but make it about ammo conservation that's fine as well but a lot of the time people complaining about not getting a weapon just come across like they don't actually want to play a horror game but a horror-themed action game.
