PC gamer, thinking about getting a TV for my pc for media and vidya purposes. OLED feels excessive for browsing websites, 4k feels wasted on 27 inches.

If I get a tv I don't have to worry, I can just play games from my couch and watch movies. Any anons that made this move?

There's no game worth playing that doesn't require sitting at a desk and being focused. Just quit video games and find a new hobby.

Are we at the point where even playing video games on your couch or bed, looking at a big TV, is bad?

48" TV as a desk monitor has been lovely. But I find that I really do need a desk.

what is even the point of making a TV this thin?

You aren't enjoying games, the reason you need to be lying down when you play games is that they are so boring and shitty your brain is screaming for stimulation and now you have to take extra steps to shut it off.
>Gotta buy a portable, gotta play in bed, gotta stuff my face with junk food, gotta hit the bong, gotta be drunk.
Just play a video game that doesn't suck.

I ditched all physical screens including movie projectors for VR. You can get 3 virtual superwides as large as movie theaters with virtual desktop. Impossible to go back to old fashion big screens

The problem with TVs is that they are typically not meant for gaming.
What does that mean? 50-150 ms of input lag.
So make sure to get a good one.

They quite literally are the predominant way of playing games, though. I'm not arguing against you really but you can hardly call it an issue when it is what most people play their games on.
But obviously I'm not playing any competitive games online, but I don't think it'll be an issue for the average single player experience

I enjoy playing handhelds in bed because it's comfortable, anon. What's the problem?

You'd think so.
Also another thing of note, don't get a smart TV. It's just going to spy on you and probably even play ads.

modern tvs have VRR, Gsync and are 165hz, if they're oled they are probably competitive with gaming monitors in terms of input lag. Now a lower res monitor is going to more easily push more frames, but at 60fps they'll be about the same, past 100fps the gaming monitor will win, but we're talking like 5ms input lag vs 2-3ms input lag. Does this matter for non-competitive gaming?
