Same, Battlemages are the best.
>>
Avowed was the only game to make this archetype fun in an action format btw
>but dark messiah
rose tinted goggles
>>
What games even allow decent battlemages? Feels like 9 times out of 10 you're way better off to commit either full mage or full melee/physical
>>
I always go spellblade unless it's the kinda game that forces you to play some kind of charisma bard character to see all content (Persuade, lockpick, etc).

Skyrim with mods.

Guild Wars 2 Sword elementalist is pretty much the "best" iteration, sadly it's in Guild Wars 2.

Might VS magic is a false dichotomy propped up by BIG WIZARD to sell more useless first party books. A true-blue hero could always fight and cast and steal, because that's what a real adventure demands. But sadly, the human centipede of creativity has progressed so hard that some """people""" use videogame magic as a baseline even for conventional fiction.

That's the only character in GW2 I played for any extended periods of time but it gets boring fast

>>727696072
Can't be bothered to find 20 skyrim mods hoping one of them will make the playstyle fun and not just overpowered to the point I steamroll everything
>>
>>727694525
>shit melee damage compared to a true warrior
>shit magic damage compared to a true mage
What's the point?

Versatility.
If you're a true warrior you can't do shit against mobile ranged attackers.
If you're a true mage you can't do shit against enemies with anti-magic/counterspells.
If you're a battlemage you can counter both archetypes.
>>
>>727698297
the only quality that matters in practice is how good you are at killing shit
>>

In Dragon Age: Origins, you could become immortal as a battlemage by putting up every permanent buff in the game and killing everything with a death aura. I like my battlemages where I get to wear the best armor and use the most practical spells so the game plays itself. It makes me feel intelligent.
