Pvp tends to attract the worst type of player.
Dark Souls kind of did pvp right by making it about trolling your opponent and being chased around like a Looney Tunes character.

I always liked observing people in MMOs.
Also in Dark Age of Camelot, a notorious PvP/RvR game, I mainly played on Gaheris, a pure PvE server. Only place I ever joined a guild too. Guess I'm just a big gay voyeuristic carebear
>>
>>727699332
I remember another anon answering a similar question about how there are so many autists today. I agree with him that it's probably not the case that there are more auts/introverts, rather it's more widely noticed as we've moved more and more into a indistrialized society. Autists and introverts of the past were often labeled as exentrics and focused on research, science, writing, and other solitary endevours where they could express themselves naturally. Now however were trying to produce as many workers as possible to handle standardized work tasks. The auts/introverts do not fit into this standardized way of working and are therefore ostracized from society.

>>
>>727699649
everyone likes a spot of voyeurism
i wish souls games would allow 'invading' players to posses an enemy already in the level instead a bit more like L4D except the mobs aren't specifically made for co-op
giving actual intelligence to an already fair and balanced mob could be vastly superior to players having random mystery builds pop into existence mid playthrough

I think it's more that in the past it was far more difficult for an average person to be truly solitary, but now we not only have a thousand and one different ways for people to keep themselves occupied and a highly global communications network where people can talk about how much they prefer their own company.

We're just coming up new words to more adequately describe things that were always there. When you go back far enough in history you find that most cultures didn't have words for the color blue or orange until a very long time into their development. Those are late vocabulary additions, globally true. However the sky was always blue and the sunset was always orange. The idea that "people didn't talk about autism/introversion before so it must be a modern fad" is just as comically misplaced as thinking that making up the words blue and orange made those colors pop into existence. Since when has it ever worked like that?
>if those colors existed and people saw them everyday, how come they didn't talk about it, those colors must not have existed
>if introversion/autism existed and people saw it everyday, how come they didn't talk about it, those people must not have existed
Same level of stupid. It's just a language issue that is slowly getting patched out. The existence of very autistic people and very introverted people lead to the creation of words that made people pay closer attention to a lot of smaller things. Long ago some cavemen were 100% angry all the time, it leads to the creation of the grunt word "angry", and it starts getting applied to everyone who is angry on a day by day basis. Always how it starts.

I bet that even old school extroverts are just getting burned out by the overstimulation offered by modern society. An extrovert 50 years ago didn't have a modern day social circle enabled by travel and social media. So even modern extroverts that would've fit the mold back then find themselves mentally sapped by socializing like introverts do.

Funnily enough, my main in WoW was a Warlock, so absolutely. I loved that spell.
Also just because I find it cool, this thread made me go look for old DAoC photos, specifically Gaheris, and I found one from 2004 with me in it in that guild, which is nice since I saved nothing from back then

Half right. It started off with the Groundhog going into his garden, but the dude didn't want to kill it or relocate it. He tried to just make his garden secure, but that didn't end up working. He instead started putting excess out for him, but the dude wanted fresh stuff. So he actually moved his original garden and made Chuck and his family their own personal garden.

I crave a new pvp MMO but everything new is garbage. Only soulshit and extraction games can satiate my hunger, but it will never be the same as those early years of MMO pvp before anyone knew what they were doing. The ganks, the angry replies, the rage-logging main character. I miss it.

I started talking to someone even less social than me. I still barely know him but I'm the one to rant to about literally everything and basically be his personal therapist. I realize this is how I used to be when I only had like one person I regularly talked to but that's changed since. Do whatever it takes to at least have a few friends for fucks sake, spread it out some instead of dumping everything on one.

Back then you just had to go outside to get errands done and you often had to walk or use public transport, so you meet more people. Travel options were limited, so you stuck around your area more, building some sort of connection with nearby people without trying.
You didn't have endless entertainment in your pocket, so you had to go to clubs and parties.
>>
>>727715625
And you'd usually spend time within friend groups and meet people that way.

>>727715716
Yep. Unless you were bullied and ended up with no friends.

Is it one of those locusts that physically transform into a migratory variant in response to crowding? I suspect they have a powerful instinct to distance from each other and spread because of that.
>>
>>727721219
No, Green Locusts don't really swarm, they congregate a bit so theyre not completely solitary.

i never did pvp because i find it unfair that people who are already better at the game also have higher level and better gear than me simply for having played the game longer. it doesnt matter if i get gud if i also have to spend months/years grinding to stand a chance. in pve you can at least theoretically skip straight to more difficult content if you have the skill.
