Redpill me on Isaac, I played it briefly once years ago and I couldn't into the combat. And which version do I get? I love spelunky and no other rougelike comes close to scratching the itch.

Don't like Issac that much, it's too much about stacking items and trying to break the balance. Spelunky is all about skill and knowledge, you can't trivialize the difficulty with item manipulation like Issac.

Spelunky is the closest thing to a perfect 10/10 game I ever played, literally (and I mean literally literally) my only two problems with it are

For me the biggest problem in Spelunky is that the black market can be a clusterfuck if some random enemy aggro's all the shopkeepers (2 fixed this) and I fucking hate the green glove that forces you to stick to walls and it cannot be enabled/disabled (2 is retarded for not fixing this)
otherwise yes, this game is as close as gaming gets to perfection
