It's super comfy. The environment design contributes a lot. You got marshes, hills, plains, desert, and a volcano with lava fields that I've seen so far. I think when I get on the boat finally I'll wind up in a real big city, and I finished all the side quests, so that's where I'm headed next.

Oh also there's a lot of dungeons and you can just find them, or wait for a sidequest to send you there. Good if you feel like doing a lot of fights fast. Fuck the sewer level though I'm not doing that until endgame.

The whole main story is handled poorly imo. It's a big tragedy, but then 95% of the content up to where I am is chill side content, fishing, etc. Noctis' father is DEAD, but boy is he excited to fish. Oh and his kingdom is conquered and occupied and his fiance is dead/missing. It's kinda the opposite of how they fucked up FF13's story/exploration balance, but at least here the option to focus only on story missions is there for the player.

I would have liked to see a little less side content open without any gating by main game content. The pace of the game is too variable for the story they're trying to tell, even if I like it. Alternatively, they should have made the story a bit more chill, and woven more cosmogonic shit into the side content with impacts for the main story later (like some of the gods are on your side or not depending on side questlines completed).
