I'll sometimes throw some stuff out but I'm aware it's leading a horse to water. It can be a little tricky innately because some games are on consoles they don't have, or are pretty niche in of themselves. I like playing touhou, and I know that none of my friends are going to sit down to play a shmup. I'm also self aware enough to realize that I rarely check out things they tell me to as well so no harm no foul. Same concept applies to movies and anime and what not.

I used to but I kinda stopped trying to get them into games. One of my friends doesn't like stepping out of his comfort zone and it became too much effort to try and get him to play something new. The most I'll do nowadays is ask them if they ever thought about playing the game or whatever
I usually don't, but mostly because we each have our unique tastes that don't often overlap too often. What's great for you might end up being average for someone else, and that sort of disappointment is usually what happened back when we recommended games to each other.
