Why are millennials so ambition-less?
>>
>>727704586
>we want more cutscenes to distract you from the fact that what you're playing is not a video game
Why are europeans so useless?
>>
>>727704586
corporate bloat is the reason why gaming is in its current state retard
>>
>>727704586
why are you attempting to gaslight those who tried and were opposed with the full force of trillions of dollars of full spectrum domination research? we were victims of those who were supposed to lead us and help us. why did everyone with money shake hands and decide to destroy everything and everyone that upholds them? do they all stand on their own? did they all build with their own hands? did they use you as well as a tool to harm those they don't control like animals in cages? wingless bats?

>5 hours of cutscenes in 50 hours
>it's not a videogame because people like it ok!
>>
they're gonna sell to EA or activision soon. gotta keep the workforce small so there aren't too many layoffs.
>>
>>727704586
That’s actually based. Studios growing too big kills them.

Because we've seen the trap:
>earn more
>you start to pay more taxes
>more taxes -> government has more money
>Israel demands that your government replaces you with even more brown people
So we work less so that they don't have as much resources to exterminate us

I never played the game, never will, because it looks like shit to me, but this is the right choice if you want to keep creative freedom and not end up like ubishart, which they left because of the very reasons they're keeping the studio small. When you grow you inevitably lose the community and then you lose creative freedom because the HR lardwhales then control who you hire.
Good on them. Poor things probably are shellshocked from the grotesque shit they saw at ubishart and said never again.

>we are using the pokemon development budget playbook and want to put as little effort in as possible, like heavily using the asset library and outsourcing all animations to a small group of gooks that we pay pennies for. don't expect the quality of our games to ever improve, in fact, you should expect it to degrade over time as we make more and more money.

Recycling E33 again will still be better than 99% of games
>>
>>727704586
Why try if you know that you are meant to fail?
>>
>>727705086
You were dropped as a child.
That's the exact opposite of what they're doing. Even when a Studio does the things you faggots want, you complain.
>>
maybe they can come up with a coherent story and proper worldbuilding this time.
>>
I hope their next game is something totally different from E33– a different genre and everything.

Not because E33 is bad or anything, but because I don’t want them falling into the trap of milking one formula forever.
>>
>>727706002
how do you milk a racecar?
>>
>>727706002
They specifically designed the game to make Clair Obscure a franchise exactly like Final Fantasy.
>>
>>727704586
Based. Their next game and ILL are the only games I'm probably going to give a fuck about. The rest is worthless corposlop.
>>
>>727704586
they split from ubisoft for a reason retard
>>
I don't think E33 really executes on their art direction all that well and accusations of it being 'unreal slop' aren't complete exaggerations.
What I'm saying is they could stand to hire more people to do better visually.
>>
>>727704586
Ambition does not equal greed you corpo-cock sucker. You are poisoned.
>>
A quick look at all the big studios should make their reasoning quite clear.
...but you knew that already.
>>
>>727706213
The artstyle of the monsters and backgrounds is enough for it to be it's own artstyle
>>
>>727704983
but they could make more money and worse products????
>>
Name 5 formerly small game studios that did not get worse after expanding.
>>
>aieeee why aren't they going public and chasing shareholder revenue!!!?!?!?
This confuses and frightens shitbag lizardmen

Expanding the studio can lead to more trouble than positives, especially if a company is just starting out. I work at a studio that went over 100 employees this year and about 10% of the team fully understands the current state of the project while the new hires are yet to realise what a mess they’re working on.
>>
>>727704586
They sound pretty based to me. Uncontrollable growth for the sake of growth isn't ambition, it's cancer.
>>
>>727704983
>>727706445
I mean, the good old John Riccitello publicly said that he considers every game developer who does not put monetization first in game development a fucking idiot while he was a CEO of Unity. That is the default mindset about business "humans" who work in vidya and vidya adjacent businesses. They cannot understand why someone would not chase maximized short term profits all the time.
>>
>>727706096
Yeah, but they can surely make more than just Clair Obscur.

>>727706213
IMO, the game looks fine, but its biggest issue is that only SOME of the areas look outstanding. Most of the game is the same brown and grey cliffs and caves. If more places were like Sirene or Flying Waters, it’d be kino.

Maybe in a couple of decades, sure. FromSoft did Armored Core 6, even though it was just mecha souls.

>ambition is unnecessarily increasing scale because ??? number go up or something
>>
>>727707003
That’s what I feel they should avoid. Every since From Soft made it big with Souls, every one of their games was basically a copy-paste and it became boring.
>>
>>727706096
In what way
The title? Is that it?
>>
>>727706510
>a guy who can do that on an actual guitar
Does not exist. The guitarist of Dragonforce can barely do this song live, let alone at double speed.
>>
>>727707318
The meta-plot with the painters and writers. Every new game will be in a different painting.
>>
>>727706213
getting some new art directors on board would be a good call
>>
>>727707494
>Every new game will be in a different painting.
That's stupid as fuck. The franchise will end up being another Assassins Creed.
>>
>>727706096
proofs?
>>
>>727708728
Assassin’s Creed’s problem was that the “outside the simulation” plot was abandoned when they killed off Desmond, so the plot became completely directionless from that point on.

My question is how they’re going to make compelling stories from that, because they can only pull the “it’s all a fictional world” twist once.
>>
>>727704841
Right here, this is actually a good thing, OP is baiting hard.
>>
>>727707494
I mean, they could, but if the audience knows that each subsequent game is in a painting, then there has to be some kind of progression with the Writer/Painter plot, making it not at all like FF

E33 is pretty clearly a single story. We might get a DLC chapter that brings more of the background plot to light but I don't think there's room for a sequel

>we don't want to turn into a shithole like ubisoft

>>
>>727709823
FF does have shared elements between each game, so maybe Clair Obscur will be the same and have some recurring things. Plus, even the term “Clair Obscur” is taken from painting terminology, so it’s safe to assume other games in the series will be about painting too.
>>
>>727710072
It being a series is a big assumption already
>>
>>727704586
Based frogs not selling their soul for easy profit
>>
>>727710231
They literally said in interviews that it’s intended to be a series.
>>
>keep doing what works and make a new game
>not ambitious
>get the success to your head, hire a bunch more people you can't manage, scale way too hard, increase the scope too much, start like 3 projects at once and fumble them all
>ambitious
>>727710231
For what it's worth there is a separate copyright for the game and a different one for the title so it may be reused in an anthology series
>>
>>727710338
Well I looked that up and
>Expedition 33 is one of the stories that we want to tell in this franchise. Exactly what it will look like and what the concept will be is still too soon to announce
You're assuming a lot thinking that future CO games will even be about paintings or set in the same universe or anything like that
>>
>>727704586
zoomers be like
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST HAVE A VISION YOU NEED TO SELL YOUR SOUL FOR ENDLESS PROFITS
>>
>grow studio
>hey investor wants this, we need to pay everyone after all...
>everyone that interviewed has bright hair, have no credentials, and wonder why you're such a nazi

>btw we're switching to UE5 to cut costs
It is an Unreal 5 game thoughbeit
You can dig old posts during production, they switched to UE5 from UE4 because there were grants for professional software they could use, and Timmy Tencent was giving new studios 20k I think? Or 90k I forgot.
>>
>>727704586
The bigger the something becomes usually the more corporate and shit it becomes
>>
>>727704586
>keep studio small
>next game sell 100'000k units
>still make a profit
AA is the future.
>>
>>727714208
Reminder that AAA inflation only happened because the Modern Warfare trilogy made a stupid amount of money, which made investors realise that games could outdo Hollywood in terms of returns.

Gaming would have never gotten into this state if it wasn’t for studios trying to imitate Hollywood.
