Let me buy it already Gabe you fuck
>>
They're not priced or available yet, because as you may have heard, everything is going sideways when it comes to RAM and computer parts
>>
>Gabe let me suck your nuts already
>>
>>727706418
Steam must have had production orders completed already before the prices skyrocketed
>>
>>727706307
It's worse and more expensive than quest3
>>
>>727706549
And I'll happily buy it anyway. I'll never spend a dime supporting meta

I cannot wait to watch my two lifetime subscribed VR porn websites with this

Would've easily been less expensive than the Quest 3 if they didn't fall for the standalone meme.

The controller doesn't seem as nice as the Index's to me. The little groove to rest your thumb in was comfortable, and this lacks that entirely.

Only way it's known to be worse is that passthrough is monochrome and that only tells you it doesn't have color, it doesn't mean it might not be of similar or better image clarity.

Passthrough is an important feature but, for example, it not being color might actually mean that other aspects work a lot better than Quest because you can get a lot more light from image sensors if they don't have color filters. This might mean, for example, much more accurate tracking, less tracking latency, or better reliability in dark environments.

You now realize this is going to be higher priced due to memory chip costs.
You also now realize that this is going to be scalped up to $3000 until 2027 at the earliest.

There is also a possibility that it might be higher priced simply to even out the revenue loss from steam machine. Base on hype, if they really paying attention, the steam machine is borderline failure even before release because of the pricing, while everyone hyped for VR. What they can do is price VR higher and price cube similar to what people expect, VR cucks have no problem tossing 1k+ into a burner anyways..

>>
>>727711878
It's true, I was in a Seattle Best Buy the other day and I saw Gaben with a shopping cart full of RAM. He was in a hurry, I think he's clearing them out one by one
>>
>>727706549
I'd probably still pick it up.
Being able to use native Linux programs instead of needing to fuck around with locked down Androidslop just fits better with how I want to use it.
>>727706645
I guess they just lost faith in trying to get separate wireless add-ons to work.
>>727711582
I'm not even running anything from the Meta store on my headset other than WiVRN, I do not care about it, it's just another dead end ecosystem that will not outlive the company's current hyperfixation, just like every other corpo walled garden.
>>727707648
I can't believe that after Microsoft managed to get Corsair to patent troll Valve, Microsoft pumped up AI to create an artificial memory shortage just to fuck over Valve again.
They really aren't letting this vendetta go.
But I think I'm OK with waiting a while just to see if it gets good add-ons, since at the very least the headstrap is probably unusably shit and just a marketing prop.

skill issue, I only use the meta link wireless
>>
>>727723445
Nope. They genuinely broke the installer recently, every time I attempt to install it now it gives an unknown error in the log file, and I've tried quite literally every troubleshooting method under the sun. Even Meta Support has no idea how to resolve it since the installer's error logging is also broken (yay!), and I'm not the only one with the same issue. Meanwhile, Steam Link just works straight away.

Guess what Meta? I ain't going to buy shit from you if you can't be bothered to fix your dogshit PC app.
>>
>>727723940
They recently renamed Meta Oculus Link into Meta Horizon Link, probably fucked something up in the installer
>>
>>727725172
It's still called OculusLink.exe and still has Oculus branding, yet it's still broken beyond belied.
I'm not joking, I've tried fucking everything and it refuses to install. Countless people have had similar issues with it, especially recently. It generates a log (as a .txt file) but it's useless in my case as the installer terminates due to, and I quote, "unknown error".
I've been in contact with Meta support about this for weeks now and gotten to the point of advanced troubleshooting like checking the registry keys, combing through fucking system event logs, as well as random barely-related bullshit "fixes" like disabling secureboot/TPM, disabling and re-enabling location services (or other MS services). You name it, I've tried it. The installer is just fucking broken, never in my life have I seen what should be a straightforward software+driver package installer be this utterly broken. God knows why it isn't working by this point as Meta themselves clearly have no clue given all the random bullshit they made me try.

Steam Link? Just worked straight away.
Meta Link? Won't even install to my system for no discernable reason whatsoever.
When I used Oculus Link on my old PC I remember it being a janky piece of shit too, but it's mandatory if you own Meta store games that you want to play via PC.

Pirating games is wrong. Especially pirating VR games is super wrong. VR is a small niche so even big developers are having hard time. Who is going to make new games if no one pays for them? Also picrel is what pirates look like in modern times.

No. Win 11 pro on a modern system.
A lot of people have issues with this installer, its code must be held together with hopes and dreams.

>>
>>727728180
A quest 2 or quest 3s would be the bare minimum to try it out. You can get used ones of the former for dirt cheap, just make sure to replace or ay least wash the padding if buying used.
>>
>>727728669
>That still exist?
Yeah, it's 90% of /vrg/ so I have to rely on rare /v/ threads to discuss VR. Right now they are having a meltdown over a tranny who was kicked 8 hours ago because he couldn't name a single 4chan board
>>
>>727728180
VR is a niche thing and nobody can say if it will be a regular activity for you or not. All the quest headsets are bang for buck, be it a $150 used quest 2, or the $500 quest 3 that I think you can get refurbed for $350. Also if you are doing PCVR like you should, you're gonna spend $80-$120 on a good dedicated wifi router, a battery headstrap, knuckle straps, and possibly a facial interface that gives you more FOV. $500 sounds good for the quest 3 until you realize you have more money to spend. All this and none of the quest head sets are terribly comfortable and 500 grams on your face is still too heavy. I would feel much safer just saying "get the quest 4" in 2027 because it will surely respond to the frame and BSB being so light weight.
>>
>>727729367
I asked a question about a VR game with the solid snake meme on /vrg/ and my post was deleted within a minute and I was falsely banned for sitewide for 30 days probably seconds before that. I was easily able to appeal it but if I didn't check archives I wouldn't even suspect why someone tried to ban me. And in a few days no one discusses the game anymore just like all new VR games. Fuck that place
