The REmake mansion makes no sense for two reasons. First it was built in the 60s, not in the 1800s, and two it was only recently abandoned(two weeks to be precise), not decades ago.

And you think nobody in RC has a clue that there are dozens of people working at the umbrella founders mansion? Groundskeepers, guards, servants, janitors. And it wouldn't be really suspicious if the place is run down and dilapidated? No. It's just Mikami who wanted to redesign the architecture because he likes the idea of a spooky victorian mansion better.
