This game is at 80% discount in the eShop, would you recommend?
noNot only this port is uglier, they rebalanced the entire game for babies.
>>727716418It's alright for cheap, just don't bother going for 100%, huge fucking waste of time
>>727716570Is the story good?
>>727716958I don't really remember desu, which kind of says a lot
I heard that the difficulty got rebalanced to babby bitch mode so you should only play it if you like the story but the gameplay was already easy before they adjusted it so now it's just a snooze fest; not that the game has really aged that well to begin with to be fair.
>>727716418Emulator it.
>>727716418Yeah.>>727716958I'd less say the story and more that the characters, especially the MC are pretty entertaining. There's some other stuff like the in-universe forums which are really good.
>>727716418If you have played the first 4 games of .Hack//IMOQ, it's worth a shot.
>>727717478That you have alzheimer's? GU was the most meme centric 2000's edgy design teen angst game to come out of that decade.
>>727716418Gameplay was already easy and they made it even easier for this re-release.Character/drama story still makes it worth picking up on a steep discount though
>>727716418Yeah do it just fo remember or see what the internet was like before social media and indians ruined it.
>>727716418Is there a physical version for switch?
>>727724423Everyone makes fun of Nomura for his belts and zippers but Haseo's outfit was literally all belts except for exposed midriff. I dont remember the plot either except he was the edgy kid from sign.m which makes the edge make sense Inguess. I think I only played part 1.
I love .hack// so much, bros.
>>727722457If you haven't, the title screen has "terminal disc" which has 4 short videos that summarize IMOQ in a pretty immersive way. I like the way they made those.
>>727724782I bet you do, butt rice
>>727724518>Gameplay was already easy and they made it even easier for this re-release.I compared ps2 and the remaster on release. It's almost the exact same. You gain slightly more EXP in the remaster. They should have made it so you gain more SKILL exp instead though lol
>>727724680That was the style back then. Personally I went with 7 belts.
>>727716958I played the original .hack games infection/mutation etc is this worth it?
>>727724881QUIT CALLING ME BUTT RICE. IT'S OHM RICE!
Yeah it's a sequel 7 years after.Elk, Wiseman, Piros and Natsume are in it as party members again. Sieg (from the Liminality OVAs) returns as Kuhn. Haseo is Sora from //SIGN.
I don't recommend it.And I've 100% it. Took me more than 100 hours.First, the battle system is very barebones and rather basic. Don't expect a lot. Characters are ok, but the ones introduced near the end are better.Plot is nice, but don't expect anything awesome. The "mystery" is solved rather early and you expend 2 games worth of following crap around. Now, the bad part is the quest system. See, those 3 games were released a few months apart from each other, so they all have the same quests. And you need to do them in all three games to get 100%. The quests are crap like finding sub-bosses, finding a fucking robot 50 times, talking to all NPCs in the game, finding all random animals and so on.Vol 4 closes off the whole tale, but honestly it's not very good. It's just a dungeon dive to save a friend, a new form (with new voiceovers), but it's over very soon. I think I've finished vol 4 in less than 1 hour and a half.
never ever...
>>727716418the story, atmosphere and characters are way better in IMOQ but this one's alright too I guess
>>727725040The gameplay is a major improvement but the story and tone is completely different depending on what you liked about the original. GU is basically a shounen anime down to the tournament arcs. It does have some of the most meme worthy scenes, lines, and designs. Just know there's also an anime that sets up the story to GU called .hack//roots. Some recommend skipping the final episode as it spoils a major reveal in the games. If you really liked the original series then its worth picking up. Its different but it manages to etch its way into being a major part of the franchise.
>I'll RAPE Tri-Edgeit really was a different time
>>727725760
I always liked reading the news in the games, it's interesting how they predicted most stuff of today.>>727724680He stops being Edgy after the first volume.
Did you know Haseo was in Tales of Rays?
>>727724954You gain WAY more exp in the remasterBasically all of the messages you get telling you to go level up in the ostensibly filler areas are totally unnecessary in RecodeAlso when I say the game is easier that's all it takes because you take exponentially less/do exponentially more damage based on level
>>727716418I personally recommend it. However, I am biased because it is one of my favorite games of all time.
>>727726098>Basically all of the messages you get telling you to go level up in the ostensibly filler areas are totally unnecessary in RecodeThey were never necessary to begin with.>Also when I say the game is easier that's all it takes because you take exponentially less/do exponentially more damage based on levelThis was also a thing in the original versions. It was to encourage you fighting in areas within your level.
>Game doesn't give you a single heavy blade party memberwhat was THAT about
>>727725491I don't know that I'd trust them to come back to IMOQ after the mama horseshit in Versus.
>>727725026His belly tattoo not being centered with his belly button pisses me off.
>>727726252Apparently Blackrose was planned but never got in.Could have had Gabi at least.Oh well, enjoy your 20 Blade Brandiers.
>>727726098Correct. You cannot do any side missions if you want to stay within 3 levels of story fights. I did 1 field area and gained 5 fucking levels and was dealing 150% extra damage to Alkaids group. Its insane the exp growth - thats why there is a mod to change modifiers.
>>727716418Watch .hack//sign if only for the god tier soundtrack, then emulate IMOQif you want even more, then play GU, you'll probably be pretty disappointed with it
Fuck man I remember back in 2005 when the first GU trailer was revealed. Coming from IMOQ, this game had the hypest trailer to come out on that system if you were a fan of the series. I used to watch this trailer on other video game sites outside youtube(they were barely a thing back then) probably over a million times. I remember all the speculation and debates of people going>"is that evil kite?">"holy shit, we get to use new weapons">"holy shit new classes">"fuck yeah, we can pvp now!"Coming from IMOQ, this game's trailer was like going from Metal Gear Solid 1 to Metal Gear Solid 5 trailer. If only I could find a better quality video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R5ZoOZ1ZWM
How come I must knowWhere obsession needs to go?How come I must knowWhere the passion hides its feeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINHS
Has Steam Cloud support been re‑enabled for the PC version?
>>727727207GU also has good soundtrack, specially the Lost Grounds
>>727724680>I dont remember the plot either except he was the edgy kidHe tones down a bit and everyone else around him is more of an edgelord or an emo whiny baby. which they explain it's because of AIDS but it's still grating as hell
>>727716418>do 3 fight>30 level ahead of enemyIt's a VN
For me, its IMOQ Mac Anu
>>727716418IMOQ is better but it's alright. It's missing one important thing
>>727725491I want it so bad bros.Just the shortcut-system from //Fragment for skills/items and updated texturesPlease
>>727734227A bigger storage space to make item hunting at the end would be good too. General QoL like the ones in //GU.
>>727731243That definitely wasn't how the OG was. If you avoided monsters you were ending up underleveled and a few good points in the game.I remember doing the heavy blade heavy attack to stun-lock lots of enemies since one hit from them would kill me.
>>727734381It's also not how the remaster is, he's a shitposter that spreads misinformation about all remasters and remakes. Ignore him.
>>727716418I genuinely don’t know what they were thinking with the difficulty adjustments, if you do like 2 sidequests you’re just overlevelled for the rest of the game
stupid faggots turned off cloud saving
>>727726045>all that>thing didn't dieThe fuck?
>>727735159I don't know anything about the mobileshit games but Tales games have lots of neat combos you can do, and a lot of games give you skills to reduce your damage output so you can practice combos.
Would I like this game if I hate reading thousands of hours of dialogue?
>>727734227Replaying the original series myself and just got to Mutation. So glad I know a bit about actual code hacking because this game really needs a the QoL features it can get. Started working on making a infinite buff time codes because I got so sick of always needing to rebuff each and every skill every time retarded AI dies and some of these monsters hit like a truck without buffs.
>>727735812>a the all the*
>>727729995Yeah I agree. they all have top tier soundtracks. Though I think I like IMOQ's moreI just mentioned the anime ost specifically since it doesn't do much else to stand out
On one hand, the remaster SERIOUSLY broke the game balance so badly in favor of the player that it became kind of pathetic how easy it is to steamroll everything short of the most insane shit the game can throw at you, or the Avatar fights if you never get the hang of them. On the other hand, both .hack series are guilty as shit of enforcing padded grinding times so players don't just briskly force their way through the games, especially with virus core gathering, so I dunno, it also saves time I guess? At least GU past part one gets some decent combat, whereas the IMOQ bunch are damn hard for me to play again..
>>727735956>On one hand, the remaster SERIOUSLY broke the game balance so badly in favorNo it didn't.
>>727735956Didn't someone make a PC mod to fix the difficulty for the remaster?
>>727736021https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo8JKkvbXkU
>>727716418I mean at this point it does not hold a candle to something like genshin impact, and the story really is not that impressive anyhowIf you played it at the time like me then you have nice memories of it but I would really not replay it now desu
>>727736372>I mean at this point it does not hold a candle to something like genshin impact, and the story really is not that impressive anyhow
>>727736372>stolen chinkshit assets >impressive
>>727736191Then don't make accusations lol.
>>727716958It captures early 2000s internet culture well. Probably a good way for Zoomers and Gen Alpha to see what message boards and MMOS were like.
You know when people were meming calling out "Curse you bayle!".For me it will always be "Skeith!".All in all its not a very fun game but the MC being an edgy unkillable prick like a real teen and him actually growing out of it was very well done.
>>727735956Agreed. I’d go even further: the collection was flat‑out terrible compared to the PS2 OG games. They cut cloud save support post‑release with zero explanation, stripped names from the arena (https://youtu.be/Isw1DjV5QP4), and Vol. 4 pulled a retcon that doesn’t even line up with the novel or established continuity. Absolute downgrade across the board.
Carlos are you here? I remember this being one of your favorite games of all time when you were in high school
>We can't have a single thread on videogames anymore without some sperg screaming "censored" or "demake" or "downgrade".>If IMOQ ever gets remastered or remade, we'll have nothing but shitflinging in the threads from people who never played the games to begin with calling them a downgrade.incredible.
Where do i start on .hack? Games or anime
>>727739917anime 100000%
>>727740001Any games worth playing?
>>727739917reminder the game discs also included a few OVAS that are connected to the first game
>>727740153.hack//IMOQ if you emulate.hack//G.U. has been remastered. You can start on GU and go back to IMOQ if you want, it doesn't look like IMOQ will ever get remastered because of Bamco fuckery.
>>727739917Sign is a slow burn mystery sort of deal but it's the prequel to the IMOQ games. You can jump into them first, but there's elements that aren't fully answered without seeing Sign build up to it. There's also some accompanying anime episodes with each disc of those games that happen concurrently, best watched after you play each game through.>>727740153Well, the better way to look at the main two game series is that you're playing one game stretched between parts. IMOQ is clunky, requiring you to attack by selecting a target per action (ie, be next to an enemy and press a button so long as the interaction box is on them, rather than independent combos), and a relic of the classic MMO era with some conveniences for being a singleplayer game. But it's basically the heart of the whole damn series in design, tone and narrative, even if it's not exactly the most driven experience. Kind of one large mystery thriller tied around a JRPG. The GU games are more presentable and playable, with better combat (though you wouldn't think it too much in part 1) and dynamics, but the story is a lot more esoteric at times, very character-driven instead and cliche starting out early on; much more shonen with a mystery on top.It largely depends on whether you can get into the gameplay and want some very unique RPGs for their time, as well as a rather distinct approach to their narratives, but are tough to get into for people more used to modern systems and conveniences.
I've actually restarted the game because I did the first 2 disc back in 2020 and kinda stopped playing, so I forgot about everything.Still, GU is so full of soul, I like reading the forum posts, the art posts, even reading the news and playing the game, going in and out from time to time, getting emails from my party members and stuff.Really make you feel like you're playing a MMO.I want to look up some stuff but I'm a bit afraid to get spoiled.
I've tried to play it a couple times and it hasn't hooked me and I'm moderately interested in .hack
>>727740680not even mmos were that fucking good btw still aren't
>>727735159Welcome to Japanese Action RPGs, hope you like destroying your thumb for basic enemies that never stood a chance of damaging them
>>727740904>that never stood a chance of damaging youFixed, I should go to bed
>>727740680Spoilers are everywhere. Careful where you tread.>>727740791Agreed.
>>727740791Post WoW MMO felt extremely like this.Word of mouth was everything.Auction house weren't a thing, if you wanted a item you had to talk to people or go to a specific part of the world where people would sell things.instanced dungeons weren't a thing either, open world dungeons were the norms. You could get PK anywhere, heck PKK were also a thing, don't get me started on TK pull full bus of mobs for "fun" or to steal their spot.It wasn't exactly the exact same, but a lot of the roots show in IMOQ or G.U were things that happened pretty often back then and made those old ass mmo memorable for old fucks like me.>>727741019>Spoilers are everywhere. Careful where you tread.Yeeaah...I tried to just look up if there was anything I needed to watch out or trade early in the first disc of GU and I almost got my ass spoiled on every party members + story end
>>727739917Its a long list to explain but to put it as simple as possible, its a huge multi media project where each piece of media acts as a small piece of a much bigger world. Just saying anime doesn't really give you any details as there's several dozens of anime along with manga, games, novels, movies, OVAs, etc. Pic related is the best concrete way to explain the series. Because of how this series is told, all of this is not all mandatory and more like cannon spinoffs/side stories. Its just there if you want to know more about the world as this series tells its story from different perspectives. For the most part the core series is >.hack//Signs(anime) -> the original PS2 games IMOQ and squeezing in .hack//Limitary as each game disk came with a anime OVA DVDThe sequel series is the GU era and it goes>.hack//roots(anime) -> .hack GU(games)Roots sets up the story for GU but its best to skip the final episode as it spoils a major reveal in the games. If you want to watch the epilogues after the games you can. They don't really add much. Lastly we don't talk about Link.
