It's a neat idea for a game but they leaned way too hard into telling the story as if the primary audience for the game was a child which shouldn't be surprising for the switch but is surprising for a bayonetta game. Certainly not a series I would expect to have a kid-friendly entry in the series, making me wonder who the real target demographic for the game was which is a real shame because the controlling 2 characters at once thing was kind of neat and felt good once you get used to the controls. I also got tired of most of the levels taking place in some kind of blue hall(I haven't played this game in awhile; I don't remember the names of the levels/zones) over and over and over. It's one of those games I genuinely wish I was capable of enjoying more, but I'm glad for the people who play it as it is and enjoy it. It's certainly fairly unique in design, I just don't like the way the narration/story was handled. I would have much rather had a story closer in tone to the rest of the series since that's a large part of the appeal of the original games, so it's kind of strange that they thought a game like that would succeed when the narrative tones and stylings are so much different from what the original fans of the game (who would care about the lore/backstory of Bayonetta) might enjoy.
I still haven't managed to finish Bayonetta 3, I know there's a good game somewhere underneath but it feels like between the long ass cutscenes, endless minigames and dogshit sidescroller chapters, only 25% of the game is actual core action gameplay and even that is kind of annoying because you have to use the devil summmons or whatever they're called

>>727716884Excellent game that is nothing like anything else in the series or really anything else Platinum has made at that, it does the "one character on each stick" gameplay better than Astral Chain. It feels more like a Clover game than anything else Platinum has made, if that makes sense. The director left Platinum and works at Housemarque now.
