Why was 2000s vidya culture so much more soulful than today's?
>>
Because it was your childhood. In 10-20 years we'll have tons of lil' niglets crying here and nostalgiaing about the good old days of Fortnite and predatory gacha games, and how their biggest problem was niggers and trannies in games, man those were the good old days.

Why's Master Chief so insecure about his height? Got some Spartan platform boots each year or something?

People cared about playing games and sharing their moments with others. Now everything, EVERYTHING is about baiting you to feel something and keep your attention.

Clan Battles in 2004 had a Playlist.

Because the technology had finally reached the point where we could realize pretty much anything we wanted, but the corporate side hadn't fully caught up to the medium. We've been stagnant on every front since. Every major game is going to become either a 2 weapon FPS game or a third person over the shoulder shooter. And make sure not to forget the parry mechanics!

In all sincerity, I don't think we're making any games these days that couldn't have been made on a PS3 (and arguably even a PS2) with just worse graphics.
