What do I need to know?
>>

The real meat is custom campaigns
>>
>>727731649
So do I just skip the main campaign then?

>>

it's suggested to skip the original campaign (OC) because it's fucking garbage made as a test drive for marketing. Shadows of Unrentide and Hordes of the Underdark are progressively better. character in the cover might show up in these campaigns though and you might not know who she is if you skip the OC
>>
>>727732384
Why?
>>
>>727731465
Do absolutely anything within in your power to get an item with permanent haste on it as soon as you humanly can and the longer an adventure can keep you away from perma-haste is a sign of a more difficulty adventure

I got bored out of my mind and stopped playing swordflight in act 3 after the gameplay got reduced to fight > rest > forced rest encounter > loot 3 gold and a +1 cloak.
does anything interesting happen or should I consider it done after act 2? that one had its flaws but it was absolutely amazing.

I feel confused. Is the main story not important or something?
>>
Play A Dance With Rogues
Play Gladiatrix
Play DemonHeart
>>
>>727734593
It's not that it's not important, it's just very bad.
Also, this game uses RTWP combat if you're into that
>>
>>727734753
Are the other campaigns connected to it?
>>
>>727734593
The middle part of the main campaign can be a bit repetitive and dull. It's not terrible though.
That said, SoU and HotU are much better and more consistent.
And there are many great community modules.
>>
>>727734791
No
>>
A Dance With Rogues is legitimately one of the best RPGs of all time
>>
>>727732115
It's not as bad as most people make it out to be, but you're free to jump straight to user made modules if you want.
>>
>>727732738
The first campain fine. It's act 2 is actually pretty good but the second campaign is overall better but not by much. Honestly you need to think of this game as a sandbox to enjoy D&D to your hearts content. There are tons of recreated modules and lots of different characters you can make and enjoy. Just go find a module you like and have fun. If you want to do the campaign then go for it as well.
>>
>>727734118
My most fun playthrough of SoU/HotU was a Druid. You can talk to pretty much every animal in the module and Druid has answers to pretty much every combat challenge.
>>
>Dance With Rogues

I looked it up ...What's with all these guys shilling this porn mod? Wtf is this
>>
>>727734791
The first campaign is loosely connected to the second main one.

This anon >>727734857 is a perfect example of the main complainers of the first campaign because they legit gave up at its weakest point which is act 1. Most of them just parrote what they read or hear and don't actually try it. The campaigns get nothing but better after you finish the first part.
>>
Oh yeah, and as for where to get user made modules
>https://neverwintervault.org/
This mod manager is highly recommended, you basically just point it at any neverwintervault page and it'll automatically install the module and all dependencies.
>>
>>727735248
It's a module made specifically for female rogues. It's story is decent but it's mostly a story campaign that didnt' get finished. The reason most people like it is it is mostly based around smut writing.
>>
>>727735248
Dance with Rogues has a weird reputation because its writing is disgusting even if you're into sex modules, but it genuinely has top-tier thief oriented gameplay and takes place in a huge hand-crafted city with a gorillion side quests and unique NPCs.
>>
I think you should try the OC, but know that you CAN skip it if you're not enjoying it. SoU and HotU are both better.
For a user-made module, I'd suggest The Prophet series.
>>
>>727734540
I think act 2 is the strongest and he got lazy after that. That being said act 2 is probably one of my top 3 modules.

Anons have any of you made your own modules?
>>
>>727735532
I've never tried that one. I'll give it a shot next. I recently did Pool of Radiance for nwn 2 and really liked it.
>>
How much did EE end up fucking up old modules? I assume there are a lot that never got updated.
>>
>>727735612
>6
I'm working on one but it's slow going and I'm short on time. But honestly I just do it for fun anyway.
>>
>>727735683
Some modules have broken triggers but 99% of the time it's fine and they're compatible with no changes
>>
>>727735683
At this point the community has fully embraced it and for the most part everything has been moved over. Now Nwn 2's piece of shit rerelease is a different story.
>>
It's not a real NWN thread if it doesn't have an argument about ADWR in it. I happen to be on the 'ADWR is kino' side of the argument, but if you're bothered by the erotic aspects you probably shouldn't play it. Yeah you can avoid all sex scenes aside from the fade to black rape in the prologue but you can't avoid the whole tone of everyone wanting to fug the princess, even if there are ways around it.
>>
>>727735806
The best part about ADWR is a legit girl (not troon) made it and she just had to put tons of rape in it.
>>
who should i take as a companion
>>
>>727735925
I'm partial to the cleric chick in the first campaign but it depends on your class.
>>
>>727735248
Smut aside it's a really good low level rogue module with a shitload of equipment, areas, sidequests, and places to explore. Also the smut actually ties into the game really well where you're not just using your rogue skills to sneak around and steal shit, but you're also using your feminine wiles to manipulate people get ahead.
>>
>>727735925
There are a lot of locked chests and traps, so Tomi has value there. Daelan or the monk are the best melee characters, with Daelan maybe being better if you can buff his weapon with fire as a mage or cleric. Fire-buffed weapons are also a good way to bash open chests without picking them.
Mages can also use a pixie familiar to replace Tomi.
>>
>>727732115
rather than skip, play through it with full knowledge of what it is: a demonstration of things you cam do with the engine. There's a story attached and it's alright, but as far as official content goes, the expansion packs Shadows of Undrentide and Horde of the Underdark are where the real game is
>>
>>727735920
ADWR is so old that no one doubted Valine was female... plus, Vico exists and there's a 0% chance any man would ever create that character.
>>
>>727736343
>Mages can also use a pixie familiar
brb downloading this game right now

I ran a hack and slash server back in the day

women writers are absolutely devious
>>
>>727736793
I played Witcher 1 and this was recommended as something similar
>>
>>727736959
well it uses the same engine but beyond that it's not very similar at all
>>
>>727731649
This. Fun though I played through all of it 2 summers ago.
>>
>>727732738
Honestly the OC isn't bad, it's just not great.
>>
>>727736452
>plus, Vico exists and there's a 0% chance any man would ever create that character
For me, it's Tony, the biggest female power fantasy in the game.
>dude here's an extremely wealthy attractive man whose sole desire is to pull you out of poverty and buy you pretty dresses and let you live in his big mansion and he doesn't even need to you to have sex with him
>>
>>727735248
Dance With Rogues is a near legendary mod made by (iirc) a very "womanly" woman, when it comes to crpgs. Basically it was like this dark romance type shit but 15 years ago before it became a thing. At the same time, it's also popular for having a decent quality. It's not just shock value with rape and all, it has some degree of actual crpg quality on it.

>>
>>727736793
can you even blame zoomzooms for getting into ancient CRPGs when games take 12 years to develop now and the games that do come out are DEI slop
>>
>>727735006
No its not, you are just a brain rotted incel.
>>
>>727737657
>Basically it was like this dark romance type shit but 15 years ago before it became a thing.
I think part of its popularity comes from the fact that it has strong romance options for both male players (Pia) and female players (Vico).
>>
>>727738018
who even makes posts like this
it cant be a normalfag, because normalfags are obsessed with sex

its possible to play this game as a party based rtwp if you grab PEPS or OHS mod.
>>
>>727738017
This one has 20+ years of community made content, too.
>>
>>727738798
Is it not already that?
>>
>>727739479
You can't control companions without mods.
>>
https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwnee/module/shadows-darkmoon-echoes-109-ee-only
I'm not all of the way through it, but this is pretty good shit if you're looking for a fiendishly difficult module to test your build autism against. I knew when I threw a Summon Monster IX scroll at an early boss and the boss killed the elemental that I was in for a good time.
>>
>>727731465
>apparenrly this game is solo, no party
I think this is the only CRPG that's done this. Doesn't it feel lonely traveling by yourself?
>>
>>727741510
You heard wrong. There are companions. Only one in the OC but many modules give you multiple companions simultaneously.
>>
>>727741510
its way better, i hate having to control multiple characters in crpgs
also you do get a follower that is ai controlled and tags along with you, you can pick between various types. You can run with them all for a while and do their quests etc.
Note you do not have to actually play with them in your party to do their quests, just hire them on and have them chill as officially your companion, then they will follow you to the next act. The trigger for the stages of their quests are just your level. You can you can do them all.
This also means you can just solo if you want and not take a single companion with you, which does level your character up faster.
>>
>>727735612
I made a personal module based around a Blacksmith who lived in a remote area, and the PC was tasked to seek him out for one reason or another. It was just a backdrop for me making hundreds of custom items, weapons and armor that I carried into other campaigns.
>>
>>727742287

>>
>>727731465
i tried playing this again but after the first time it never loaded again, a shame
