Metroid is one of the few Nintendo franchises that aren't catered towards casuals/families, yet even it can't gain their interest. It seems like that's been par for the course for Nintendo for the last 10 years. The only thing they've put out that has wowed casuals, Nintendo fans, and traditional-gamers alike has been Breath of The Wild. But besides that, nothing they've done has been an Elden Ring type sensation, a BG3 type sensation, nor even something smaller than those like Hollow Knight. Nothing they've done since BOTW has been praised from all over, nor have been considered the best in anything.
