Currently easing my way into SHMUPS. If I say which one it'll out me as a Youtube watcher, as if that matters. Ordered a copy of Ace Combat 6 to play this winter. Pretty disappointed by Metroid Prime 4, hence got myself Ace Combat 6 instead. Besides all the meme complaints, it seems like they just didn't even bother to make a Metroid style map, and the item selection is really weak. You can say it's down to hyper casualization and pandering to a low common denominator, but I think there's also the issue of talent drain. At any rate I'm frankly incredibly disappointed. It's hard not to be bummed about it. Also I need to sayI replay the Halo series a lot. I holds a lot of replay value to me. Halo 2 has gotten better for me each time. Especially taking the game really slowly and giving power weapons to your AI Allies. It takes on the feeling of a stratedgy game if you approach it with an eye to keeping your allies alive. It's amazing to me that I'm still finding new ways to play this game. And I'm often finding new details, like weird character animations I've never noticed, rare dialogue, new weak points on vehicles. Having to concider attack range of both you and your enemies is one of the cooler and best aspects of it.There's not much too to concider really, just dive into it and keep pushing. The weapons I used (Powerstanced Smelter Swords) are the ones I loved the most until Elden Ring. I think part of the problem is that because of the ragebait society we're in, the pandering in games retroactively makes it seem normal to younger audiences because they have no frame of reference. This makes them not care a lot about it, thereby making it cyclical. Studios didn't need to pander to anybody in the past because the younger audiences only concern was what the game inherently offered. But the cultural shifts influenced the corporate choices to meddle in games.
